Content Strategy
Good afternoon Fr. Alex,
I pray you had a wonderful Christmas break and a happy new year! I apologize for the lag before starting up with your new site's content strategy. Much of our staff was out in December and we are finally caught up. How funny that you reached out to Alan today, just as I had begun going through your current site's content!
Before we begin reorganizing your new website content, we ask that you please review what is currently on your website.
To help with this, we have created a sitemap of your website's pages and put them in an editable document for you to made additions, remove pages, or make any notations about the pages. This will let us know what pages are to be migrated, which ones are simply being left behind on the old site, and which pages don't exist yet but will be added in the future.
Current Sitemap
Once you have edited this sitemap, please let me know and we will begin creating your suggested sitemap for the final website.
Let me know if you have any questions,

Hello Father Alex,
Upon looking at the current sitemap, I see you highlighted items as yellow or red. What are these colors used to indicate?
Thank you,

Veronica,
Good afternoon!
I apologize for the delay – I’ve been working with the staff to create a solid initial site map. The highlighted sections are for my own reference – sorry for the confusion!
I have a few meetings this afternoon, but I will post what we’ve come up with to the Google Doc. We’ve cleaned it up a bit and streamlined things significantly – we think it will be a good start.

No worries at all! I'll check in with you on Tuesday if we haven't heard back from you.
In the meanwhile, let us know if you have any questions!

Veronica,
Apologies for the super delay in finishing the new Site Map. I updated our shared document. A few notes about the Site Map:
* As you can see, we are redoing the entire site map and site structure
* In developing the new Site Map, I treated it is a website outline / page hierarchy, not as a delineation of content nor as a “link tree”
* So, for instance, I envision that the “Becoming Catholic” page will have information and links to the pages of Baptism for Adults, RCIA, Confirmation, etc.
* Also, for instance: I envision that the main navigation page (the top-level links on the front page) will be different from the site map itself
* If you would like me to come up with a Main Menu hierarchy right now, let me know!
* I apologize in advance, but we may end up making changes (additions, subtractions, reorganizations, etc.) to the site map over time…
Also, a few “quick hits”:
* Just to reiterate, we don’t want to migrate any data over from the old site, so we want to create each page on the new site from scratch
* I spoke with the Rector and our Business Manager, and it was decided that they want to have some minimal form of an online storefront for our Gift Store. Is this possible?
* I have already been speaking with the staff about formulating page content and information, and some of their rough drafts are already in development.
Again, I apologize for the delay in getting this to you. Please let me know what I need to going forward and I’ll try to get it done in a more timely manner than last time!

Hello Father,
Thank you for taking the time to look at the sitemap.
Using this, I created the new, "Suggested Sitemap" that we will use for the actual menu layout, initial homepage content (once the design is approved), and for notation of content migration progress.
Please fill out the Main Menu [Lower] section (Main Menu Top Level Items & Full Main Menu) using the Full Site Map on the last page (copied from the sitemap you provided). Of course, this may change over time, and especially after launch. We simply use this to designate how to set up your menu initially and the order of page content.
I have also created a Google Drive Folder for you to begin adding your own folders, pages, documents, images, etc., as you and the staff begin gathering content.
Let me know if you have any questions or issues.
Thank you,

Veronica,
Thank you for this. We’ll get on this asap.
Quick, very dumb question though: what exactly do you mean by “Main Menu [Lower]”?

Definitely not a dumb question!
During our Deep Dive conversation, we discussed using a menu similar to the Diocese of St. Petersburg. On their site, they have 2 menus. The Quick Menu [Top] is above, in smaller font (no dropdowns) and the Main Menu [Lower] is larger and allows for dropdown menu items.
The Main Menu [Lower] is referring to this menu:

Not a problem! I always find visual aids the most helpful when it comes to websites!

Hello Charmaine,
I had gone over the sitemap with Fr. Padillia earlier this year, but wanted to share this with you as well and get your input.
Using the current sitemap, I created the new, "Suggested Sitemap" that we will use for the actual menu layout, initial homepage content (once the design is approved), and for notation of content migration progress.
Feel free to change or fill out the Main Menu [Lower] section (Main Menu Top Level Items & Full Main Menu) using the Full Site Map on the last page (copied from the sitemap you provided). Of course, this may change over time, and especially after launch. We simply use this to designate how to set up your menu initially and the order of page content.
I have also created a Google Drive Folder for you to begin adding your own folders, pages, documents, images, etc., as you and the staff begin gathering content.
Father had mentioned not migrating any current page content but instead using new page content. You can do this in Word or Google documents and upload them to this folder:

I look forward to talking with you tomorrow!
