Hi everyone!

Another week of progress has been made in the website creation.  Initially, we had quoted a price of $15820 (226 hours x $70hr) for website creation. 

We arrived at that price by breaking the web project down as follows:
  • Design: 90 hours budgeted/79.2 hours used
  • Build: 94 hours budgeted/1.7 hours used
  • Content Migration: 42 hours budgeted/0 hours used
Which brings our current cost to $5663.

I'm not sure when in the process this needs to be mentioned, but to err on the side of caution, I wanted to ask if Diocesan was still able to host a new domain for our school website.

I just wanted to make sure I understand everything correctly.  When we spoke, we were going to be hosting the school and parish domains:

Will this new domain replace the existing school domain?  We would still be hosting two domains, but the school is now different.  Let me know if this is indeed correct, and also the address of the new domain.

I am not positive regarding hosting the church domain (ihmparish.com (http://ihmparish.com)). Jane, did you have a preference?

I do know we wanted to create a new school domain to replace our current one.

As for the domain transfer of each of those, Mary will usually wait until we are closer to the launch of the website to initiate the domain transfer to Diocesan. We simply ask that you make sure you have access to the accounts in which these domains are currently housed.

According to the domain Who Is lookup, the domain has already been purchased through GoDaddy by someone other than Diocesan:
https://www.whois.com/whois/ihmschoolgr.com

With this in mind, Diocesan does not have control of the domain, nor is it available for purchase. Your team will need to determine who has the domain (through GoDaddy) and obtain the login information from them in order to move email domains.

If you are unable to locate the domain holder, Diocesan can purchase another domain for you and help set up emails at that domain. 

Let us know what you learn and who the domain contact will be, as we will need their information for the launch as well.

Kelly, I've just sent over a Basecamp approval for the purchase of the new domain.  Once you've clicked the I Approve button, we will purchase the domain and can help you get set up. 

A quick DNS lookup shows that you are currently using Google email services. Do you plan on switching email services or remaining with Google and simply updating the domain/end of the emails?

The .com domain is already purchased through GoDaddy, which Kelly has informed me you have control of.

The .org domain IS still available for purchase, something Diocesan can do for you and help the launch process go that much more seamless.

Something I did notice and want to bring attention to is that when changing domains, any classic Google Sites are deleted, so before changing the domain for Google Suite, please switch any classic Google Sites to the new Google Sites.
