✅ myParish App Calendar
Good morning,
Before going into the two examples and their pros/cons, I wanted to reiterate (and confirm) our goal for a calendar choice.
From my understanding, we want to have a schedule/scheduler that can do the following:
- Viewable on web
- Viewable on myParish App
- Display Speaker Information
- Name
- Photo
- Biography
- Display Event Information
- Title
- Date
- Time
- Room/Building
- Event Description
With this in mind, I spoke with Andrea Perry (myParish App department) about what other conferences use for their calendar. She let me know that they are moving away from Google Calendar and moving towards posts and pages with the schedule on those pages.
Posts + Pages (NCCL Convocation)
Posts will appear on the website and the app. The pages will open in someone's internet browser.
NCCL has their daily schedule in the app as posts with the View All Speaker Information opening a web page with the images of each speaker. As you click on "Learn More," a pop-up window displays their information.
Personally, I like this option the most. By having the schedule as posts, it will put less traffic strain on your website the actual days of the conference.
I also think we would want to display different information in the posts (list the individual tracks' titles & links for each event open page with Speaker info & details). This is something that we will discuss when we come to look at the actual contents of the website (probably between the 2-3 design meetings).

Pages Only (Catholic Media Conference)
This calendar is completely web-based and is displayed through their website. Of course, we could make similar pages and determine what information is on the main schedules page and what is on a second page or popup.
For example, on the main page, we would probably want to put all session options (title & room) with links to get more information on topic & speaker.
This is something that we will discuss when we come to look at the actual contents of the website (probably between the 2-3 design meetings).

My Thoughts
As I mentioned before, I think the post/page mix would be best since it would be editable by you in case of any last-minute schedule changes, allows for customization of what's displayed immediately, allows for customization of information (font size, links, background color, layout, etc.), reduces server load during the conference, is viewable on the ICSC website, viewable on the ICSC myParish App, and would not be any additional costs.
So when they open the app, they would see something like this:
Let me know if you'd like to review this information or any questions over the phone,

Thank you for this information. However … I am a bit confused. I would like to have a phone discussion with you.
I have attached two documents from last year’s conference for our information. This might be helpful as we have a discussion.
Let me know when you’re available.
Thanks!

Hi Shannon,
Thank you for sending this over. I've started looking over it and it definitely gives me a better idea of what we're working with.
I will be out of the office tomorrow and Monday, but would you be able to talk on Tuesday? I'd like to get something scheduled out now before my week starts filling up again.

Hi Shannon,
I'm not sure why, but the default Zoom Meeting information it gave me to copy is mixing up the times.
It will be at 11:00 am, Mountain Time.
