We are really excited about all the edits and think they have vastly improved the overall design of the site. Please look over everything and let me know if you have any questions, or let me know if you are ready for me to send on the official design approval. Thanks, Blake! Fermin, did you get this message as well? Please look at the links below and let's touch base either today via phone (call my mobile) or tomorrow in person (I'll be in the office) and if you're satisfied, we can present it to Fr. John/Julie and move toward final approvals.

Fermin, did you get your questions answered about the videos? And did you have time to check on the online link info (ability and costs) that we all discussed at our last meeting? I believe that was on your "to-do" list.

Thanks, all.

Blessings!

Hi Blake -

Sorry for the delay, but I'd like to move forward on this asap. Father John has not reviewed it, but he said he's comfortable with whatever we agree we'd like to do.

Julie, I'd like to move to the final version and approvals. We can review the site with you now, or wait until we do so with approval capabilities. That way, we can get to the development site sooner and get this launched.

Fermin, based on the last meeting with the web team, you were going to look into the online direct link capabilities, and let me/Julie know about costs, so that we can create links that open directly to the videos rather than just linking to a site such as our YouTube page. Would you please get back to us this week with the info so that we can give the development team direction for the coding? Thx

Thanks!

Hi Christine,

That's quite all right, we know the end of summer is a busy time for everyone. We are excited to be moving on the project again.

Picking up where we left off, I had sent on a number of improvements and edits. Have you had a chance to look over all the changes we had previously made?

If you have, let me know if you are liking all the changes I had made. If you hadn't, please let me know if you have any questions about them and I will be happy to explain the design process. Talk to you soon! :)

Thanks, Blake! Yes, I’ve looked over the changes. I still need input from Fermin regarding the links (see below), but I think we’re ready for the final tweaks/approvals process.

Hi Christine,

Ok that sounds good. Also, I believe we were still trying to settle on what we wanted to do with the video dimensions with the mobile version of the site. We have a couple of different options.

Fold

This is what we currently have mocked up for CCTN.

Link to Current CCTN Mobile Proof: https://xd.adobe.com/view/c39d56c0-c892-4ee9-5f17-d39ab71336a7-b5ac/screen/3b7b5161-f215-4a12-9710-f053490e3876/iPhone-6-7-8-1

Other Things to Consider

  • Video/Images will always fill the same percentage of the screen
  • Diocesan will add fields for text so that it resizes on mobile
  • When used properly, videos/images are background/mood-setting images, not focal points
  • Text will use the same fonts as website theme
  • Video/Images will be cropped to fit screen
  • Does NOT use exact dimensions
Example Link:
https://spagr.org/school/
**Shrink the example sites down to the mobile size so you can see the video differences.

Aspect Ratio

If we chose to go with aspect ratio then we will have to recreate the mobile homepage design. Doing this would require us to quote out additional design time. We are currently at our quoted hours for design.

Other Things to Consider

  • Against best practices/not recommended since any text on slide would not be mobile responsive (so some text may be too small to read)
  • Video/image will keep its exact ratio & never crop
  • Items below video/image will move up or down depending on the width of device used
  • Best used if you plan on putting text directly on your video/image or specific images of people's faces
  • We would not be able to put buttons over the videos/images
  • DOES use exact dimensions

**Shrink the example sites down to the mobile size so you can see the video differences.

Please look these options over and let us know how you would like to proceed. Looking forward to hearing from you!
