Holy Family Development Link & Training

Good morning everyone,

We have reached the point in the development process in which we share the link to the development site with you. First, I wanted to go over the missing content from the website and then get into the training and development site.

Training
Since you will be migrating your content on your own, I want to make sure we have the first training session scheduled soon so you have plenty of time to begin creating your new content!

The first training session typically takes ~2 hours and is done remotely via Diocesan's version of TeamViewer. At the beginning of our phone call, I will walk you through how to set up the remote access program.

During the training sessions, we go over:
  • How to edit the homepage content
  • How to edit the footer
  • How to edit the menu
  • How to create/edit inner pages
  • How to create/edit posts
  • How to create/edit/use image galleries
  • How to create/edit/use online forms
  • Any other questions that you may have
Since this can be a lot, we break the training down into two sessions:
  1. Editing the site basics  (pages, posts, menu, homepage)
  2. Editing the additional site features & answering follow-up questions (forms, galleries, etc.)
This is completely up to your learning pace and how much you feel comfortable covering at once.

Development Site Link
Something to keep in mind is that the site is not quite completed yet, with the largest thing being mobile responsiveness. That said, it is best to look at the development site on a desktop computer, rather than a laptop or smaller screen. Mobile development and responsiveness is something that the developer completes after the training so that he can update any changes along with the original development.

There are some other big items that we are still working on, such as:
  • Homepage Video to fit width 100%
  • All Ministries page
  • Stay Connected block on inner pages
  • Calendars
Since both the All Ministries and the Ministry Category page templates are going to be predominantly automated (all but top paragraph & image), I do not see any reason to delay the first training session.

Other than that, if you see anything that alarms you (design or functionality), please let me know and we can address your concerns.

Please let me know what dates next week would work best for the training or if you have any other questions,

Hi Veronica –
I took a look at the link and, just curious, looks like the sticky nav had not been updated with the revised copy, or some of the features with the hamburger menu. And links don’t work. Is that intentional at this stage? I thought it might be loaded with the pages already designed – is that my misinformation?

Thx!

TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan

Good morning Christine,

The pages have not been migrated, so that is why there is still dummy content and placeholders instead of actual links. So I've gone ahead and updated the top navigation menu to match the mockup and will show you how to edit this menu during our first training session so that you may switch out any links as you see fit.

Some of the pages, however, do actually display the information, such as Mass Times & Homilies (updated in menu) and News & Events (updated in menu).

Additionally, we are still working on making sure the sidebar menu works correctly. This kind of menu has never been used by Diocesan before, so we are having to build it from scratch and tweak out all of the imperfections.

Since we budgeted the content migration hours into the original quote, are you ready for us to migrate all of your content into the site and begin filling in those links? If so, please do the following:
  1. Check over this suggested sitemap that we will be going off of.
    https://docs.google.com/document/d/12j3QjwEStxySLO5p1Vu563EFq1JgjX84nt7ElkKObFc/edit?usp=sharing
  2. You have the choice of filling in this template or doing so yourself after training (easier due to Diocesan not having access to images)
    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ayK3MIoTzLjoS3xeOeMJu8wsd_kBPtGKg7DwnbpKmOU/edit?usp=sharing
  3. What is the administrative login information for your current website? Since we are migrating WordPress to WordPress, there is a feature that allows us to export your site's pages and images and import them into your new website. This can save Diocesan hours in Content Migration time.

Let me know once you have made a decision on these three items and I can have Cody begin the migration.

Thank you,

Veronica Alvarado

FROM THE CLIENT Fermin Toro, Director of Network Operations for CCTN at Holy Family Catholic Church Orlando Staff
Hello Veronica,

We still need to know the final specifications on the video Banner for the Holy Family website.
Based on the test we sent 2 weeks ago, what will be the proper frame rate p/second, size, length, and video codec in order to have fluid/smooth screening in our website.

Thanks and God Bless!

Hello Fermin,

I apologize for the delay. I was out Thursday - Tuesday but am back in the office now.
While I was away, I found some information online about industry standards but will be talking this afternoon with our in-house marketing team to see what they recommend since they film all of our commercials, app training videos, and other promotional materials.

I will let you know what we come up with and send this information your way.

Thank you for your patience,

Veronica Alvarado
