Good morning everyone,
This is just a reminder that we are looking to launch Holy Family's new website on Thursday, January 30, 2020, between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.
We ask that you do not log into the website during this time. Any changes made during this time may be overwritten or go unsaved as the URLs are updated, DNS updates propogate, and SSL certificates are issued.
Diocesan will send your team an email once the launch is complete and it is ready to log in and continue making edits.
I will check in with you on Tuesday, January 28, to confirm the launch and send over the information for your DNS update(s).
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns,
Veronica Alvarado

Veronica, is there anything else we’ll need to review – or you to have from us – before Thursday?
Also, is the Event Calendaring tool ready for Lynn to be trained so that we can manually determine which events from EMS are to be shown, and where? We’ll need to coordinate that training so that he’s ready by launch.
Thx

Good afternoon Christine,
Homilies Upon running through your website, we saw that the homilies hadn't been updated since September 15. We weren't sure if you wanted to pull those audio files from your current site and upload them to the new website before the launch.
Events Archive We are updating this page to be from today, into the future. Here is the page: https://holyfamilyorlando.diocesanweb.org/events/ (Please keep in mind that this is the Phase I archive page. Phase II will likely include a filter.) Would you like the All Events page to include the Location and Group as well? As for the "featured" events, would you want them on the homepage only or the homepage and the news & events page?
Calendar Import Training Our developer we able to get the test file and is currently importing it. He is spending the rest of today reviewing the events and making sure everything is working properly.
Would we like to go ahead and schedule the calendar training for tomorrow, Thursday afternoon (right after launch) or would sometime next week work best? The events already imported can be edited by you at any time after launch, but the actual import of the EMS query XML file will require a quick training that Kyle Sullivan will provide.
Thank you,
Veronica Alvarado

Veronica,
I input current posts for the Parish News segment on the front page. Those are good to go. (BTW, it was a pleasant surprise to have the capability to put a Page on the front page in the Parish News; we do have occasional need to do that).
As of now, I’m free morning or afternoon.

into an HTML block. That’s how I did it on our current site.
For some reason it isn’t taking. When I input that string into an HTML block, I hit preview and it said it could not find the page.
Any help? I deleted it in the interim.

Veronica, per the Homilies question below…
Can you update all Homilies to our new site thru this week? And we’ll need to give access/train Michael, the person who does the Homilies uploads onto our site now. What should I do to make sure he’s ready to do it on the new site next week? Besides, I presume, giving him limited access to the website backend. Would you please add him with limited web admin privileges to the Homilies tab? For some reason, I’m not finding where I can do it on my end. And please respond to all, including Michael on the cc line (his email is NOT his name, it’s AVTech@holyfamilyorlando.com<mailto:AVTech@holyfamilyorlando.com>. )

Hello Christine and Lynn,
I am out of the office now but haveschedule the 10-11 am training for tomorrow. You will receive the email with training information tomorrow morning.
We will look into the iFrame issue tomorrow morning as well.
As for the homilies, we are nearly up to our budgeted hours for content migration, but I will check with Cody and My schedule and see if we can figure something out.
Unfortunately, I cannot CC emails outside of our Basecamp project but tomorrow morning, I will add the new, limited user and send him (cc you) his new login information. What is Michael's last name?
Thank you,

Hello everyone,
As it turns out, there is no conference call line available between 10 and 11 am. Christine, Dan, and Lynn, are you available for a training from 1-2 instead?
Cody and I are busy moving those 70 homilies this morning and should have them done by this afternoon. I'll keep you updated on that.
I will be setting up Michael's account once the homilies have been migrated since that migration is time-sensitive.
Let me know if 1-2pm today works for you,

Christine,
I have made to-dos for both the Events Archive to include location & group, as well as making note of where you'd like the featured events to display.
The calendar XML import training had been planned for today when we go over the rest of the events. If this portion of the training will be done by someone else not in our training today, please let me know so that we can schedule a separate training.
Last, all homilies have been migrated to the new website.
Thank you,

Thx Veronica for everything. And, good, I’m glad we’ll get it all done today. Lynn, once Dan has you set up, since you’ll likely be part of the XML importing as well as event calendaring, it’s appropriate for you to be part of that as well. And in the meantime, while Dan addresses some issues per Julie, Dan may be doing the importing. We’ll discuss how, and how frequently, while on the call

Fyi…this is the screengrab for the News & Events page as of 12:34p today…I presume we’ll discuss and work through issues having to do with outdated or wrong dates, such as the valentine dinner dance? I’m presuming it’s an EMS XML-export issue?

Good morning Holy Family team,
Our developer has begun to complete the website's launch now that he is in the office. We ask that you please refrain from editing the website until we have completed the launch. Editing during launch could result in unexpected logouts and unsaved or overwritten changes.
Here are the items we discussed yesterday that have been completed:
Once we are launched, please be sure to set up some featured events. I have set the Men of Holy Family Pancake Breakfast (Feb 2) and St. Valentine's Dinner & Dance (Feb 15) as featured events for now as test items since they were prominent in your bulletin. I also added content to the St. Valentine's Dinner & Dance post to test.
Let me know if there's anything else that comes up and we send you a message once it has completed the launch process!

Veronica,
While I was cleaning up the events, I ran into this error. The 503 Service Unavailable error would occasionally come up when your techs were working on the site, but this is new.
I had another event open, so I clicked "events" to go back to the list. Then I got this.
According to Dan, the old HolyFamilyOrlando.com was constantly getting hacked (this was about two weeks ago when I discovered that), denying us access to the system for a couple hours at a time. When logging in, I'd run into something called WordFence.
I'm wondering whether you might be running into the same thing in your transitioning everything to HolyFamilyOrlando.com.

Good morning Lynn,
We are currently making the site updates, so you will be constantly booted out of the site and shown the maintenance page as we update links and configure routing and rerouting. The security risk you are seeing is because we have not set up SSL certificates yet.
We ask that you please refrain from editing the website until we have completed the launch. Editing during launch could result in unexpected logouts and unsaved or overwritten changes.
We sill send you an email once the website is launched and you are cleared to begin logging in.

Veronica, Cody,
One of our parishioners discovered that they cannot connect to EMS off their phone from the Facilities Scheduling page. I don’t know whether that’s a website issue or EMS issue (as I’ve never tried to connect via phone before).
Also, what size should we crop a photo that’s in a parallax? I’d like to re-crop the youth-ministries photo in a way that doesn’t show a sensitive area. Do I have the capability to redo that photo or is that something your techs would have to do?
Yours in Christ,
Lynn

Good morning Lynn,
I looked into the Virtual EMS issue and since it is hosted by EMS, there's nothing that we can do about it. However, when I googled the issue, a lot of other EMS clients tell their users to use a computer instead.
As for the parallax (cover block), the part of the image displayed will depend on a visitor's screen size and the amount of content within the parallax. There are not actually exact dimensions for this.
If you are not talking about the cover block, please give me the URL of the page and more description on the area of the page you are trying to fit the image. You may be talking about the page header or a different block/automated template than I have in mind.

The Ignite, Spark, Credo and Wildfire images were supposed to be Plinkos (alternating image beside text). Instead, the images go the width of the page with the text below.
Was that a concession to the mobile side? Or was there an issue? Our youth minister was concerned about the size of those photos.

Good morning Lynn,
The reason the plinko block stacks so soon is because of the Plinko blocks used on the Get Involved page (see here). Since this page serves as a list of ALL ministries, we didn't want the list to begin to be cut off. To solve this, the plinko block stacks on browsers below the standard Large Laptop size of 1440px wide.
If you are not wanting the content to stack until mobile phonze size, I would suggest using the Media & Text block. On this page, https://holyfamilyorlando.com/diocesan-test/, I have added the same content into both Plinko blocks and into Media & Text blocks. This way, you can see the differences between the two blocks, as well as the settings used in the Media & Text block to see how it was put together. To access the page, please use the password: test
Let me know if you need any clarification or if you would like me to go through the Media & Text block in further detail with you.
