404 and Maintenance page are done.

You can see the 404 by going to any ole page that doesn't exist, such as https://dioceseofvenice.org/notfound

As for the Maintenance page, I installed SeedProd Coming Soon.  To put the site in maintenance mode, simply go to SeedProd -> Settings, select "Enable Maintenance Mode" status, and click "Save All Changes"

I'm using the maintenance.php file to control the look, so that box must remain checked "Yes".

While the site is in Maintenance mode, visitors will see the maintance page.  Logged in administrators will see the site, as well as a "Maintenance Mode Active" status in the upper right hand corner of the admin bar, next to "Howdy".
