Content Migration Clarifications

Teresa & Maria,

The Site Build and Development portion of your quote included the migration of your existing pages and media into a single site. To accomplish this, Diocesan will be exporting each site’s current pages and importing them all into the new, single site. Any pages without a parent page will, on the new site, have the parent page of its original office’s homepage. This will help eliminate confusion since bringing together multiple offices will almost assuredly result in duplicated page titles.

Diocesan will also be exporting each site’s media files and importing them all into the new, single site. Each current site will, on the new site, have a media category with the original office’s title. This will help eliminate confusion since bringing together multiple offices will almost assuredly result in duplicated media file titles.

Since you have selected Option C (DOSP moves all content), Diocesan will not be editing any of the pages or media files beyond the initial parent page & media categorization. Any additional edits, reorganization, or creation of sub-categorizations will result in additional costs.

NOTE: Although the media files will be in their respective categories, the file names will not be changing, resulting in images/files being replaced on pages with whatever first of the name was uploaded. For example, if there are 4 photos of the bishop, all titled Bishop.jpg, combining them onto a single site will result in Bishop.jpg, Bishop (1) .jpg, Bishop (2) .jpg, and Bishop (3) .jpg. This will result in all 4 pages previously using those 4 different photos will all use the first Bishop.jpg photo rather than whatever image was originally used. DOSP staff will have to go through each individual page and check that the media on the pages correspond to the correct page.
If, alternatively, a specific office votes to NOT have Diocesan export/import their content, please make note of it in the attached spreadsheet.

This should clarify the content migration questions. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
