By now, most of us are familiar with the slogans that attempt to remind us that reducing, reusing and recycling is an important part of our daily lives. With phrases such as “earth friendly”, “going green” or “eco friendly” we may or may not think about how we can do our part as Catholics to help minimize our impact here on earth.
As one of the nation’s largest publishers of printed Catholic Media, these words are more than just a slogan. This is how we do business. We believe that as good stewards of our faith, we must also be good stewards of the earth.
1. Soy Based Inks.
All of our bulletins are printed with 100% soy based inks. These inks are made with soybeans as opposed to the traditional petroleum based inks that are still being used by 75% of the commercial printers in the US.
2. 100% Recyclable.
The switch to soy based inks now means that our bulletins are 100% recyclable. All excess paper coming off our printing presses are immediately put into bins and prepared for recycling at the end of each week.
3. Digital Printing and Production.
As more of our printing and production process becomes digitized we are cutting down on the use of natural products to produce your weekly bulletin. Beginning with our website and ending with our email shipping notifications, we have made great strides in eliminating much of our paper usage. All in-house paper still being used is separated for recycling after its purpose has been served.
4. Digital Bulletins.
The electronic distribution of bulletins via TheCatholicDirectory.com and your CatholicWeb website has made it possible to deliver a paperless version of your bulletin each week.
5. Constant Evaluation.
We are always evaluating and adjusting our practices for better ways to reduce waste, improve efficiency and create a better bulletin.
