Gray's hex is #f7f3ef
tan's color is #f7f3ee, if converted to hex (shown below)
so ever so slightly less blue 1/256th if I remember hex right, so no wonder that I don't see a difference there. Was this discussed in a desdev or something for this color change, I don't see a need for it if it is just going to change it the most minute amount possible or we change one of the colors. If you change the Blue value of the rgb for tan from 238 to 239 it actually becomes the gray color. Functionally equivalent.

which color are we looking for, the gray or the tan?

I think as long as either one is differentiated enough that would work. Maybe make the gray more gray?

I think the tan's hex is more the #F7F3EF and for the gray color I would use something like #F2F4F4.
