Good afternoon Tim,

Another week of progress has been made in the website creation.  Initially, we had estimated a price of $2590 (37 hours x $70hr) for website creation. 

We arrived at that price by breaking the web project down as follows:
  • Design: 10 hours budgeted/12.5 hours used
  • Build: 24 hours budgeted/27.5 hours used
  • Content Migration: 3 hours budgeted/0 hours used
This brings our current cost to $2800.

It’s looking great! We’re basically ready. A few requests:


· Reduce the button border to 1px

· I’d like to reverse the hover effect – make the button white and font black on hover.

· Reduce the top and bottom padding on the Connect, Find Your Place, Care and Counsel, and Sacraments panels

· The “I’m New” photo in the Connect panel has inexplicably changed to some ballerinas; that needs to be fixed.

· A new request: can you remove the “Shalom World” icon from the blue footer?

Other items to discuss as we prepare to go live:

· The video for the home page is ready, if that’s something we can discuss

· When we go live, I’d also like to update our menus. I tried doing that myself on my end, but apparently the menus need to be updated by y’all to avoid breaking them.

Regarding the menus: We’d like to scrap our current menu, and replace it with the attached menu. We have some tools on the backend of the site to do that ourselves, but we apparently can’t use them without breaking the menus and menu styling. The web team said y’all could update the menus for us when we go live with the rest of the home page.

What are your plans for the new menu? And when do you want to make those changes, post-launch or before we launch?

Unfortunately, changing the menu will change the scope of the original proposal and without knowing what you want from it, it's hard to say by how much. That being said, we are happy to move forward when you are!

Hi Arthur,

We might as well tackle the menus and the video loop, since they are ready, at the same time as the rest of the development.

Regarding the menus: We’d like to scrap our current menu, and use the menu proposed in the attached files.

Regarding the video: we have a video file prepared to replace the current photo at the top of the home page. We expect we’ll need to eliminate the copy – “We are called to know, love, and serve as Jesus did” – but want to see if we can retain the button.

I think the easiest way to take care of the video portion is to make a user account and have you upload the video to the media file. Due to Basecamp protecting everyone's emails, I do not have access to your email. And in order to make a user account, I need your email. Once you have uploaded it we can compress it if need be.

We had originally gotten rid of all the content on the Homepage Hero, but we had understood you to have had asked us to restore it all back in our review that you, Blake, and I had. If we had misunderstood you, we apologize. If you want us to remove that, we certainly can. I would like to mention that we have gone over the hours budgeted as it is and this will add time to the project. Do you still want us to proceed?

As for the video, I am having our developer take a look at it to see if it is a content issue or a code issue. If it's a coding issue and will take some time, we can take care of it during the two-week free support time, that way you are not charged.

Hi Arthur,

I haven’t heard about the budget recently. How much over the original quote are we?

Yes, when the page went live prematurely, I had asked your team to restore the hero content on our existing home page. That never actually happened – when you reverted to the current home page, the motto and button never reappeared with it, but figuring we’d launch the new page soon, it wasn’t a big priority and I had not mentioned it.

I mentioned wanting to scrap the motto, but keep the button in our first email conversations about the video.

Good morning Tim,

I hope your weekend was pleasant!

I got a chance to talk to my boss and discuss the project and hours. First of all, we apologize for the mistakes we have made along the way. After talking with him, we decided to keep to the estimate so you will not be charged the extra time.

As the hours stand now, we estimated the design to take 10 hours, we are currently at 12.5. We estimated the build to take 24 but we are at 31.7 hours. This means that we will be taking off 16.2 hours, and we will be adding whatever time is needed to fix the hero section to that 16.2 hours free.

Our developer will be working on the hero section today. Hopefully tomorrow the content and buttons will be perfect and ready for launch!

I didn’t see an Approve button anywhere in your email – but I have a few questions before we launch:


1) None of the content on the new homepage is actually linked to anything. The links are all placeholders like “Mass%20times” or “asdf”. Don’t we need to get those linked first?

2) Are the forms actually functional?

Hi Arthur,

This morning, I logged into the dashboard of the new homepage and found the Options menu. I see I can edit the homepage links there, and it looks like I can update the form fields too. Since I can do it, I will go ahead and update those links – but they won’t be ready in time to take these live today.

Is this something I was supposed to have done? No one has talked to me about the links, the forms, or how those get updated.

Let's take care of that and set up a training session for forms and how to edit the homepage. I apologize for my assumption that you were trained in that. If you are free, Cody can be able to train you tomorrow at any time after 11:30. The training will take about an hour. He has some time Friday early afternoon if that does not work for you.
