Content Strategy & Sitemaps
Good afternoon Rhonda,
I hope you have been doing well since you last spoke with Alan!
My name is Cody Armock and my role here in Diocesan's web department is as a content specialist. This means, that in addition to going over what areas of your current website are staying or going, I also help you find the most effective way to layout your website. I will be helping you in this process from now until the training before the launch of the site.
This not only helps us build you a website that is easier to edit and manage but also allows anyone visiting your website to accurately and consistently find the information for which they are looking.
Below are links to Google documents of your current and proposed sitemap. The current sitemap shows your current site's menu structure and flow. The proposed sitemap is what we suggest for your menu based on our previous experience and what would work best in terms of usability. The proposed sitemap is created to optimize the flow and look of your site.
You can edit the proposed sitemap however you would like, adding pages, removing pages, etc. The proposed sitemap will act as a guide for the content migration process. Please edit the document directly to ensure that the same edits stay throughout all versions and that the content migration process is accurate. I have added a few comments throughout the document too and the red highlights indicate pages that were not found.

Thank you for choosing Diocesan and we are very excited to work with you on creating a new website for you and the people of St. Bernard.
Let me know if you have any questions,

Hi Cody, I was going through my email and can’t remember if I responded to your email. I’m sorry if I didn’t a response to you sooner.
Thank you for the site maps for St. Bernard. Yesterday we were able to review our current one and began to look at the names of each area and what we want in where. We also looked at your proposed map. Here’s what we actually would like to do.
First, we will be changing some of the titles and page headings both on the home page and on the inside pages that come from the menu dropdown. We are working on those now and what from our current map would fall under those areas.
What I’m wondering if it would be worth us having a phone conversation to talk about this? I was going to put together a new proposed sitemap with the new language and the old one as a reference. Also, will there be a project schedule put together so we know our timeline?
You can call me at 920-475-2204
Thanks
Rhonda

Good Morning Rhonda,
Not a problem with the delay!
As for the Proposed sitemap changes, please make any changes to the existing document to keep everything in one place that way there is one source of truth instead of the possible confusion that can arise from having multiple documents floating around.
May I suggest copying the proposed sitemap structure and pasting it below and editing that copy. Then when you are done with the old one (the original proposed sitemap) you can delete that.
As for changing the titles and page headings, feel free to do that to support your vision and mission at St. Bernard. Nothing on the proposed sitemap is set in stone and can be changed in the future. It is meant to be a tool for migration and organization.
If you want to set up a phone call, we can do that, but I do not know how necessary that is for you, so I cannot make that (proverbial) call.

Hello Rhonda,
I forgot to add a note about the timeline. I will talk with my team and try to get a tentative timeline put together for you. Of course, the timeline will be malleable and subject to change based on all sorts of factors, but you will be able to see a rough timeline of the process.
Thank you and sorry about the quick succession of emails,
Cody Armock

Hi Cody, thank you so much for taking the time to talk with me last week. You answered a few questions. I wanted to let you know that I did update the Proposed site map today. Hopefully you understand what I did.
I received an email from Danae and she will be contacting me soon. I also hope something can be done with the bulletin option we spoke about. As I indicated we were not aware or told that our bulletin had to be Diocesan in other to use one of the options from the Transfiguration Demo. Anything you guys can do, would be great.
I look forward to hearing back from you.
Take care and blessings,
Rhonda

Hello Rhonda,
I am glad that the sitemap is now approved and that I answered your questions.
There are a couple of options that can be done, but there are caveats to both of them. One way is to do it manually where you get the design from the Transfiguration demo, but you have to update the links and pictures every time there is a new bulletin. The other is to use the iframe that LPI allows to pull in everything automatically, but you don't get the design. Unfortunately, that is the only two ways to do it.
You can talk with LPI to see if they have developed a new integration system, but the last that I've heard, it was just the iFrame embed.
Thank you,
Cody Armock

Thanks for your email. I did speak with LPI and they indicated there was no other integration system. They did say they could send us the pdf so we will just need to set up something to do and see how we can work something out close to the option like in the demo site. I’m also working with Danae.

Good Morning Rhonda,
That sounds good! Yeah, once we start the content migration I can play with it a bit and show both options, and then you can pick one to stick with.

Hello Rhonda,
My name is Arthur Richardson and I am the Web Project Manager.
After further review, we were informed by one of our developers that we can create an account for you on our Discover Mass website. Once this account is created, you can upload a digital copy of your bulletin. By doing this, you will have the function and appearance you are looking for!
Thank you for your patience!
God bless,

Thank you for the information. Can you give me an example of a site as to what this will look like. Is there something we have to do? The bulletin will be a button on our home page, will that matter?
Rhonda
Rhonda
I have another question. I did look at the Discover Mass website and it appears that there are a few tabs other than bulletins. We want to just have the link on the homepage bulletin button to go directly to the bulletin, not the overall website page. It appears that the churches that have the bulletins activated are ones who use Diocesan for their bulletin. We use LPI. How will that work by us using LPI?

I received an email from Arthur Richardson indicating that developers could create an account for us on Discover Mass website and that would do the same thing we wanted. I don’t know much about it. I looks like what Parishes online is with LPI. I did ask Arthur some questions. Maybe the 2 of you can talk.
I’m not exactly sure who I am suppose to be working with. As it stands now, there are 3 people I am working with from your company, (you, Danae, Arthur). Do you folks work together and should there be a main contact? I am having a zoom meeting with Danae tomorrow.

Hello Rhonda,
Great question! You are working with all of us!
To simplify your confusion, we are using a project management program that allows us to communicate with you. The advantage of this is that the team knows what has been said and unsaid between you and us. When you reply to one of our emails, we all can see it. This way, no details are missed as we progress.
I will be overseeing the general progression of your website. Cody is helping you with content and Danae will be working with you on how it will look.
Does that clear up that question? As for your follow-up questions, I will be double-checking with our developer before I respond. I want to be sure we are all on the same page as we move forward!
Thanks again,
Arthur Richardson

Hello Rhonda,
I had a chance to double-check on your questions for the bulletin.
It will appear the same as if you had Diocesan bulletins on your website.
Our steps:
1. We will implement a thing called a 'plug-in' that we use for Diocesan bulletin clients
2. Create a user account on the DiscoverMass website for your parish to upload PDF
Your steps:
1. get a digital copy of your bulletin - PDF
2. Login to DiscoverMass and upload PDF to Discover Mass in your account
Everyone else's steps:
1. click link and be satisfied
Let us know if you have any more questions or this needs more clarification for you!
Thanks and God bless,

Cody, I have been doing some work on the web but am having a little problem with the following. Can you please help me as to how to do and/or correct the following:
1. Need to change the format on the Serve page to remove the accordion format.
2. In the about menu, the dropdown "Our Community" header seems off and a little larger. How can I make it look like the other headers.
3. I'm having a problem adding the other serve ministries to the menu of the Parish Life, Serve Menu
Your help would greatly be appreciated.

Hello Rhonda,
1. The 'Serve' page was serving no purpose and I forgot to change that to a Ministry Group and add the ministries underneath it, but that has been remedied. I added the "Serve" Ministry Group under Ministries > Ministry Group. Then I added each of the 6 ministries underneath it, copying the content from the accordions. After that, I removed the old pages from the menu and added the new Serve Ministry Group link and the 6 ministries below it. I also changed the link on the Parish Life page too, so that is now correct. Lastly, I drafted the old Serve page.
2. "Our Community" was a text widget in the menu and was a vestige from the old menu. I have deleted it and made a page for "Our Parish" and ordered them according to your notes. The "Our Parish" page has no content, but I didn't know what was going on there.
3. The structure of the menu is important and only a couple of the items were there. I believe I answered this in #1 above, but I will provide a quick review of this in the next training. Please remind me at the beginning of it, so that I remember to cover it.

Hello Rhonda,
I have migrated over the media from July 2018 and have changed the post images to be the 3:2 aspect ratio like we discussed.
Here is the support link I mentioned. https://robertdemo.diocesanweb.org/category/support/
Just a reminder that the "Robert Hybrid" support posts will be about your site (mostly, not everything might apply), as well as, those about Image Buttons, Accordion and so on. Those about Michael, Alphonsus, etc. will not pertain to your site.
Thank you,
Cody Armock

Hi Cody, would you send me the recording of the training from last Thursday. There are a few items I cannot figure out.
1. I am trying to change the images in some of the button links and cannot seem to figure it out. For example, on the worship an sacrament page, I want to change the button images.
Thanks
