Development Link & Training
Good afternoon Everyone,
We have reached the point in development at which we share a link to the development site with you.
Training Sessions
The first training session typically takes ~2 hours and is done remotely via a screen share program. We will send over the meeting link and phone number in a later email.
During the training sessions, we go over:
- How to edit the homepage content
- How to edit the footer
- How to edit the menu
- How to create/edit inner pages
- How to create/edit posts
- How to create/edit image galleries
- How to create/edit online forms
Since this can be a lot, we break the training down into two sessions:
Session 1: Editing the site basics
Session 2: Editing the additional site features & answering follow-up questions
This is completely up to your learning pace and how much you feel comfortable covering at once.
Development Site Link
Something to keep in mind is that the site is not quite completed yet, with the largest thing being mobile responsiveness. That said, it is best to look at the development site on a desktop computer, rather than a laptop or smaller screen. Mobile development/responsiveness is something that the developer completes after the training so that he can update any changes along with the original development!
There are some other big items that we are still working on, such as:
- Ministry Cards (Parish)
- Landing Page
- Staff Page (Parish & School)
Other than that, if you see anything that alarms you (design or functionality), please let me know and we can address your concerns.
Development Site URLs:
Please let us know what dates and times work best for the training or if you have any other questions,
Have a great weekend!

Hi Cody,
The parish side looks great!
One thought I had was to add a COVID 19 section on the Main Home Page for updates to the parish and school.
Can you do this? Also, I emailed Veronica to let her know that we would like the Bios for ONLY Fr. Mark and Fr. Luis on the Staff Page.
Fr. Mark likes to post his homily separate from the recording of the livestream mass. So can there be a section for Fr. Mark Homilies and then a section for View Live Streamed Masses on the Parish Landing Page?
I am pretty open for training. Whatever works best for Jenny in the school, I can work around.
Thanks!
Cindy

Hello Cindy,
We can make a COVID 19 section on the homepage. I don't know if we could have it on the landing page for both, but it could be two pages (one for each site) and then linked on the homepage or something of each and have the same information or different (depending on what you want, just for parish and just for school).
I added the Bios for Fr. Mark and Fr. Luis, but the developer is working on showing them.
On the Parish Homepage, we can do a featured button for the live stream masses and another for the homilies, sure. Where are Fr. Mark's homilies now?
Thank you,
Cody Armock

Cody,
That would be fine for the Covid 19 as long as the information can be linked to both the parish and school. We will always want the updates to be posted to parish and school.Right now Fr. Mark's homilies are on the parish homepage under Message for the Week.
Thank you so much!

Hi,
Thank you - I am reviewing and will likely send a few emails as I see things.....when you say you are working on the landing page, is it this? The header seems to be too big with the buttons and cutting off the pics:

Hi Cody,
I am looking at things and overall appearance looks good, but definitely a few areas I want to address.
1 - What is the best way to provide feedback?
2 - What is the deadline for providing feedback? We are opening school this week for students and unfortunately, I can't dedicate as much time as I would like to for review. I want to make sure that we get this to exactly where we want it to be before launch. Can I have a week (August 24) to thoroughly review?
THANK YOU!

Good Morning Jenny,
When talking about the landing page I mean the initial page that loads and then directs you to either the parish or the school like the one now when you go to saparish.com.
The screenshot you sent would fall under the Mobile Responsiveness issues that we are still working on as well. Based on the screenshot you sent, I would say that you are looking at the website on a screen resolution of between 1240px and 1367px, quite possibly a laptop. This will be taken care of as we move closer to launch. I have also made a to-do for it.
To answer the second email questions:
1 - The best way to provide feedback seems to be to create a Google Doc and then send us the link once all the feedback as been entered. That way, we can go through and make comments answering questions or saying that to-dos have been made.
2 - The deadline for providing feedback is a tricky one, it is best to have it done soonest, but it would be best to have it before the second training if at all possible, so still some time.
By all means, take the time you need to review it thoroughly, we don't want to rush it just to get it out there and for it to not be done the way you want it. Just let us know when you would like to schedule the first training and we can also use that time to discuss anything further.
Thank you,
Cody Armock

Good morning,
I have finally had the chance to take a peek - it's off to a great start! Couple things:
1 - Will staff bios and the academic section be added?
2 - How do I best communicate changes?
3 - Where will the links for curriculum grade levels be?
4 - How do you want me to communicate the additional needed information?
I apologize for my delay in getting you this information and reviewing.
THANK YOU!

Good Morning,
I was able to review the webpage church site and have the following notes:
1. The Live Stream buttons should look like this when clicked on after the livestream is done.
https://www.saparish.com/livestream-mass/
Currently we are livestreaming on Facebook and Youtube. Beth has helped us set this up.
2. Could a Live Stream button be added to the Landing Homepage to make it easy to find. Like what we have now.
3. FAQ should be replaced with TESTIMONIALS on the Welcome page:
Martha Bravo - Father Mark and Father Luis and all the staff are very nice and you feel very welcome at St. Anthony of Padua.
Peter Varga - Great Catholic CHurch. Wonderful pastor, superior staff and great Parish with friendly members.
Shelle McGuire - Fr. Mark is a wonderful pastor. He led very meaningful funeral services for my brother and sister-in-law.
Greg Mucinski - The friendliest parish around. Everyone is welcome at St. Anthony's.
Angela Wolf - Very loving community! Fr. Mark always makes special events extra special and fun for the kids! We love our St. Anthony Community!
Colleen Dame Marihugh - It is a very welcoming church. All are welcome there.
Carol and Harry Guay - As a visitor, I felt very welcomed; wonderful choir, and very charismatic priest.
4. Our School Calendar is not linked to the school calendar on the Welcome Page
5. Under Parish STAFF: Lisa Mills title is Parish Secretary
6 Under Parish Resources: The homilies link should be a separate link than the livestream link. Fr. Mark posts his homily every week and it is not always the same one that is on the livestream mass. https://www.saparish.com/homilies/
7. Under Mass Times: Can you add Rosary is prayed at 3:45 pm on Saturday. (Before the 4:30 mass)
8. I don't see the Ministries Page.
Thanks for all your work on this. It looks great!
Cindy

Good Morning Cindy,
Thank you for your patience in my response!
1. I pulled the code from the current site and added it onto the dev site.
2. I am discussing this with Veronica and the developer. We will get back to you to see how feasible this is.
3. I have added those testimonials (you can see them on the Homepage. These can, of course, be edited later i.e. Category Labels). In the process, I found a bug with the site where it is not currently showing the right page for the Testimonial archive. I have added a to-do for the developer to fix it.
4. I added the school calendar link.
5. I added Lisa's title.
6. I made a separate page for the Livestream Mass Video Archives and added that to the menu and replaced the content on the Homilies page.
7. I added the Rosary section to the Mass Times Page.
8. I will be adding in the Ministries page. I think we were waiting on the functionality of the ministries when we sent the link, but that has since been completed, so I will be adding those in shortly.
Thank you and have a great weekend!

Hi Cody,
Thank you for making the changes!
Two more things:
On the parish homepage instead of Priests Homilies, can you change that to Fr. Mark's Homilies.
St. Anthony's also has a youtube page to view masses so we broadcast on Facebook and Youtube. Should we add that somewhere?
Under Parish Resources: Live Stream Mass - Video Archive
Down below the drop down, a box needs to be added for Live Stream Mass - Video Archive.
Thanks so much for your help!
Let me know if you have any questions.

Hello Cindy,
I have changed that box on the Homepage. I have also added the Image Button on the Parish Resource page. As for the YouTube page, we could put that in the footer with the other social media icons. If you have the link I can put it there. I could also add that link to the menu too if you want.
Thank you,

Want to view Sunday’s Livestreamed Mass again?
We will archive all of the Masses here (https://sap.diocesanweb.org/church/parish-resources/homilies/) so you are able to view them again.
Under Parish News:
When I click here the link to archived homilies appears instead of the livestreamed mass.

Hi Cody,
Fr. Mark was just reviewing our new site on his Ipad and noticed the following:
On the homepage:
Under Mass Times, Saturday is cut off on his Ipad
And
He said that on the homepage under the section where the school children are waving, FAITH STORIES the letter I looks like a small i on the Ipad. It must be the font.
Sounds crazy.
Once again, these two things only show on the Ipad screen.
Thank you,
Cindy

Hello Cindy,
I have made those changes. I will make to-dos for those things, but we will wait till after training to fix those mobile changes in case there are other changes that need to be fixed on Mobile as well, just so that it is all done at once.
Thank you,

We will actually be taking a closer look at the Mobile Responsiveness of the sites later this week actually, so things should be done sooner for that. I still have passed along the note about the iPad view issues! If Father could take a screenshot of those issues and send those along that would be helpful too to make sure we can diagnose things correctly.

Hi Cody,
We got the new website up and running internally in our offices.
Here are a few things:
Under Homilies - 2 duplicated homilies are posted. https://saparish.com/church/parish-resources/homilies/
Under Parish News - Can you bring over the posts that were on our old webpage but not transferred to our new site?
Under Livestream on parish homepage - We also stream on Youtube. Can you change to say we stream on Facebook and Youtube. And make it look like this. https://saparish.com/church/livestream-mass/
Under Faith Stories on the parish homepage - Can you make the PARISHIONERS comments first since this is the Parish site?
Under Parish Resources - please take off the Live Stream Video Archive and Homilies archived.
I have the parish staff reviewing the website also for anything I may have missed.
Thank you!

Hi Cody,
We got the new website up and running internally in our offices.
Thank you!
Cindy

Hello Cindy,
Homilies
For the Homilies, the duplicate was just that, a duplicate of the first to show what the two column method would look like with the heading and the audio files. Now, it just needs the media files to be loaded to that page. I have removed the duplicate.
Posts
I will have to talk with the developer to see if there is an easy way to do this, I think there should be, but we will have to see. I will check with him tomorrow.
Livestream on Homepage
This is a relatively simple content fix by editing the homepage "Featured Items" and editing the second one to add "YouTube". I will leave this for you to update, since this was covered in the first training.

Sorry, forgot to add these before sending it:
Faith Stories
The categories for the Testimonials are ordered alphabetically, so I just changed the title to put it higher in the order.
Livestream Menu Item
I removed that item from the menu. This was covered in the first training, if you need to remove something in the future.
Father Mark's Staff Link
I have removed the link under his staff image.
Thank you,
Cody Armock

Hi Cody,
I realized there is no place on our new website that has the info for our parish app. I am thinking this should go on our header and possibly under Parish Resources.
Can you add this?

Hello Cindy,
I have added a page for the myParish App on the site. If they click on either of the pictures on that page, it will take them (if on mobile) to the right app store and download the app and will make St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Community their home parish. I have added a link in the header links and the main menu under the Parish Resources.
Hope that works!
