St. Anastasia New Website Edits

Hi Fr. Jim & Brenda,

Thanks again for taking the time to meet this morning, it was very helpful and we are excited to be moving forward soon.

I have finished making the edits we spoke about today, as well as creating the new ministries page.

Here is the link again to review the proofs:
https://xd.adobe.com/view/34f4edfb-8cfe-496b-6ccd-acd6646deef9-42c5/grid/

Take a look at these and let me know what you think. If you have any questions please feel free to let us know. If these all look good and we are ready to move onto the next stage of the project, let me know and I will send on the official design approval email.

We are looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great day!

Hi Blake!

First of all, your note says Fr. Jim … it’s Fr. Steve
(and Fr. Jake is the assoc. that was also on the
call yesterday).

A few things I noticed on the revisions:

1. Many of the ‘redirects’ go to the logo?

So when I click on the language, or the

Individual ministry, the logo connects

(ie Advent by Candlelight).

2. On iphone 6/7/8 … the picture is still showing

cropped. We would like that area, whether pictures

or videos to NOT be reformatted. We would like

the entire picture or the entire video visible, even

tho it makes it smaller. So, I think the lingo is

“full aspect ratio” not folded.

3. I don’t see the “back to top” arrow we discussed for

each page (Bishop Kennedy HS style).

(Fr. Steve may have more input!)

Thanks!

Hi Fr. Steve & Brenda,

I just wanted to reach out and see how everyone was liking the design proofs? Brenda and I addressed the questions in the previous email on the phone, by showing her where those changes were or if they would be handled during the next stage of the project during development.

If you have any questions please feel free to let us know. If these all look good and we are ready to move onto the next stage of the project, let me know and I will send on the official design approval email.

Hi Blake!

I hope you are doing well thru these unprecedented times!

We are settled and ready to get started again on our website.

It will, unfortunately, take a bit for me to catch up to where we
were - and I'm sorry in advance for any recaps you may need to
do.

We have a few questions:

1. The color for the background of the pages we are hoping can still be adjusted.
Attached is the exact preferred Adobe formula for the background color. Is it
possible to switch it over (the blue is still fine!)?

2. As far as the proportions for the home page - whether we saw
any of the buttons below the main pic.... we are opting for #3 - no
buttons .... just the arrow that indicates to scroll down.

3. Based on the importance of Social Media during these times, we have
realized the increased importance of making sure our parishioners can easily find
the icons/links really easily. Wondering - in addition to them down at the bottom
of the page, if they can also be added up at the top - like on the right side,
but to the left of the search button?

4. The different segments on the home page.
We are still trying to remember what the parameters are.
Are there maximums and minimums?
We have the buttons
We have the Events
We have the Happenings

So how many we can have (maximum) would be helpful to know.
Hypothetically, let's then say - well, you can have as many as you like -
it could go up to 20. And we say - well, we don't need 20 - how about
15. And we go with that. Could the additional 5, if needs changed,
be added in the future (we understand it would cost money at that time -
just wondering plausibility)? In other words, is there any flexibility on any of it?

I am working virtually for now - about 90% of the time. The best way to
get a hold of me is my cell phone (586) 246-1251 or by email.

Thanks again so much for all your patience and efforts as we resume work.
We really are excited!

God bless,

Hi Brenda,

Glad to hear from you!

Requests 1 - 3 were no problem at all. Those changes are all reflected in the proofs. You can see them by clicking on this new link below. If you don't see them just press the Refresh button and they should show up.

https://xd.adobe.com/view/ca0824e5-5e27-4437-bead-69ac66e391e1-9f5b/

In regards to #4, I will be able to answer your question.

Peramatures / Min & Max

Buttons:
As of right now the Max amount of buttons is 12 and the minimum is 4.

Those numbers respond very evenly as the screens go smaller.

Events & Happenings: As of right now the Max is 3 and the minimum is 1.

If you would like there to be more than that we can discuss options to have either a "Carousel" function or have another row of 3 underneath them. Carousel means they would be able to press and arrow and scroll horizontally to show 3 more posts. So the max with a carousel could be 6-9.

Let me know if you need any further explanation on any of that and I will be happy to explain more. If the proofs are looking good and we are ready to give design approval, Father Steve has an approval email already that he could say "Yes" too. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks! :)

Just in from Fr. Steve.

He does like the carousal idea. So - back to 3 with the carousal for
both the Events and Happenings.

As far as the mobile site, can we see what it would look like to have
(Events and Happenings) an arrow on either side of the picture to
do the carousel instead of underneath? Underneath could still be
the view more button.

We have a parish subscription to the Trajan Pro font. What do
you need from us to be able to incorporate it in so we can see that?

Thanks so much!

OK. If that is the case we should be able to embed the Trajan pro font to the website. We just want to make sure we have a fully licensed webfont to use.

I went ahead and updated the proofs to have Trajan Pro on them. If you refresh the proof link it should be there.

I don't need that kind of information during the design process.  When the developer is creating the live site he may need more information from you but I'm not completely sure.

We just try to make sure we are using correct licensed fonts so there is no copyright infringement. So at this time, I don't need any other information.

Hi!

Me again...

So - we decided to delete the Music for your Wedding page
at this time.

I think I successfully deleted it from the menu. I don't see it in the
dropdown any more.

https://stanastasia.diocesanweb.org/worship/sacraments/matrimony/

When I went to delete the button from the landing page, and then recenter the
other two that are left, it took the formatting off of the background ... sigh (and it didn't recenter it.

sooooooo .... can you please check it out?

Thanks!

Hello Brenda,

Based on the Category Archive proofs, that is how the image buttons need to work in order to keep the consistent styling across the site. This was carried over to the Image Buttons (Landing Page Buttons) as well. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to keep the box shadows for three buttons and then center for only two in a row. Sorry. I deleted the Image Button from the Landing Page to remove the music button there.

Great job removing the Music Page from the menu and the landing page!

Hi Cody,

Just so I'm clear - there's no way to center these two 'buttons' on
this page? https://stanastasia.diocesanweb.org/worship/sacraments/matrimony/

Also - another snafu.

Goal - to move the Food Pantry post up higher in the "Happenings" area.

I realize we talked about posts being in chronological order.

I was going to copy and paste the contents of the page ... into a 'new'
page (which is actually the same page - but would be a 'new' post).

The problem is - on the 'first' page you made ... there is a tool called
'categories' .... where it is directed to go to happenings.

Categories is not available on my new page - so there's no way that
I see to get it to "happenings". I put it in drafts. Any ideas?

Thanks!

God bless,

Brenda

Hello Brenda,

Correct, there is no way to center those buttons on the matrimony page unless you make another button/page to have 3 buttons.

As for the post, there is actually an easier way to move the Food Pantry up higher in the list. The ordering is done by the Publish Date, and we can adjust that in two places and both will work the same way.

1. When creating the post or editing the post, we can go over to the Document Pane and click on the Publish Date (see pic below) we can select a date more recent to move it higher up on the page, but it has to be more recent than the other posts you want to be below it.

2. The other is through the Quick Edit when hovering over a post in the list of All Posts. Once you click the "Quick Edit Link" you will see the image below and you see the date it was published and then change that to be more recent than others and then click the Blue Update button. This is easier because you can see when the other posts were published (or last modified for Drafts)

Let me know if you have any

To change a button on the homepage?

I wanted to change the "Happenings" button (which is
a big section below) to "Religious Education K-9"
with this link - and put it before Spiritual Growth with this link.
https://stanastasia.diocesanweb.org/faith-formation/religious-education/

"Get Involved" could take the Happenings place. So swap the two.

I went to the dashboard, appearance, menus but didn't see happenings.
I'm sure there's a spot for buttons - I remember you showing
us - but it was all so quick! And it will take me another hour to review
the recording! lol

Thanks Cody!

Good morning Brenda,

The website is set to discourage coming up on search engines' lists at all, so I'm not quite sure she found the website! I know we've seen this before when something is linked to the new website by accident, but I've never had someone find the hidden site on their own!
Wordpress does let us know that it is up to the search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc) to honor the request, something out of our control.

Luckily, you are so close to launch that any rumors should soon be confirmed as blessed and true once we make the site launched and visible!
