I've tried a bunch of different solutions that I found online for this, and the closest thing I could find was a method that disabled all page templates.

So, instead I bit the bullet and went with a hacky workaround—viz., I removed the offending templates from the parent theme.

This is not a very future proof solution, but it works for now.
