Quick Intro to Basecamp
Cynthia,
Thank you for giving Diocesan the opportunity to create your new website. I just wanted to take a moment to introduce you to Basecamp, which is the tool we use to keep our projects organized and on track. Along with a brief overview of our web development process. If you have questions about anything at all, don’t hesitate to ask.

We’ll be using Basecamp to manage all of the work we’re doing for you. It provides us with a singular location to place our to-do lists, needed files and important dates. From time to time we'll send you messages, questions, or project updates. You'll get everything via email. All you need to do is read them and reply to the emails as needed. Your replies will go right back into Basecamp, which helps our team stay on the same page and make sure everything keeps running smoothly for you.

Project Breakdown
Our development process is broken up into five stages. Below is a brief synopsis of each stage of development and what will happen.
Design Process
The design process starts with a short consultation involving one of our designers. Here, they will work with you to determine the look and feel of your site, what’s important to your parish, and the flow of your site. During the design process, the designer will be creating mockups of various pages of your site. Based on prior experience the design process commonly takes from 3-4 weeks, depending on the number of changes required, the complexity of the design, and the timeliness of communication back and forth. Once you’ve approved the design of your site, it will move into our development queue.
Content
One of our content specialists will reach out to you during the design stage to begin discussing the organization of your sitemap. This will provide a roadmap for the content specialists and open discussion for what content you will be migrating, as well as what new content you will be providing. Once a developer begins building your site, they will begin filling in your pages with the designated content.
Site Build
Once your project is assigned to a developer, they will begin creating your site using your final, approved designs. This process involves creating all of the necessary visual elements, layouts, and templates for your site. Your developer will be working closely with the content specialists, who will check for proper functionality as they migrate content and create new content.
Training
One of our training specialists will guide you through how to manage and update your new site. They will walk you through the basics of WordPress, from editing pages to changing your menu. There is a minimum of two weeks between the training and launch so that you and/or your staff have enough time to get comfortable with editing the website and can ask any questions that may arise.
Site Launch
Once you and/or your staff are comfortable editing your new site, we’ll launch the site, but the job’s not over yet. Be sure to update your site with new articles and content. Updating the site is key to making sure visitors find the site useful and parishioners check back often for news and opportunities.
