Content Strategy
Good afternoon Madeline,
For the content portion of the website process, you will be working with Cody Armock. I have included him in this email as well.
Cody's role here at Diocesan's web department is as a content specialist. This means, that in addition to going over what areas of your current website are staying or going, he will also help you find the most effective way to layout your website. Cody will be helping you in this process from now until the training before the launch of the site.
This not only helps us build you a website that is easier to edit and manage but also allows anyone visiting your website to accurately and consistently find the information for which they are looking.
Thinking about content before the design is important because it will make the design process easier and tailor it better to your needs. It is similar to building a house. Content strategy is figuring out how many bedrooms and square footage you need when picking floorplans. The design process is the customizing of the space (walls, flooring, exterior, colonial vs modern style, etc.). Content migration/creation is the filling of your rooms with furniture and your possessions. Without the content strategy process, the house may not suit your needs.
Below is a link to a live Google document of your current sitemap that you are able to edit directly. Please go through this sitemap and make the appropriate edits to display what pages you'd like Diocesan to migrate, as well as removing the items that you do NOT want Diocesan to move.
Once you have completed editing the pages you'd like Diocesan to migrate, please let Cody know and we will begin making a suggested sitemap for the new site based on your current sitemap. The suggested sitemap is created to optimize the flow and look of your site. We will then send you the suggested sitemap to edit and change as needed and, when finished, approve it.
Once you approve the suggested sitemap, we will be ready for the design process. A designer will reach out to you to begin the design process when they complete their current project and we have received the final version of the suggested sitemap. In order for the designer to provide the most accurate and best design, it is important to revise the current sitemap.
Thank you for choosing Diocesan and we are very excited to work with you on creating a new website for you and everyone at St Monica.
Let me know if you have any questions,
Thank you!

Hi Alan I don't seem to have Cody's email address can you please forward.
At this point I do not seem to find anything that can really be 'deleted' but I do think items such as ministry and or Formation areas can be condensed at some point.Do you need me to go thru page by page and take out items off of pages or is that down the road coming up?
I am a big fan of the Saint Jude Website by Diocesan and hope to follow along those lines in terms of layout and such.https://judeatl.com/

Good Afternoon Madeline,
As it stands right now, whatever pages are in the current sitemap, we will bring over to the suggested sitemap, which you will have the chance to review as well. The suggested or proposed sitemap will act as our list of pages that we are migrating. All content on those pages will be migrated over from the current site.
However, if there are things on the current site that you do not want to be migrated over, you can put a comment on that page in the sitemap and we will honor that when we are migrating the pages. So, to answer your question, we can start thinking about it now, but it doesn't have to happen until a little further down the road!
Let me know if you have any other questions, but as of right now, I will begin working on the Suggested Sitemap and will have it to you by the end of the week.
Thank you,
Cody Armock
