Content Strategy

Good afternoon, Jennifer,

I hope you have been doing well since you last spoke with Alan.

My name is Cody Armock and my role here in Diocesan's web department is as a content specialist. This means, that in addition to going over what areas of your current website are staying or going, I also help you find the most effective way to layout your website. I will be helping you, in this process, from now until the training before the launch of the site.

This not only helps us build you a website that is easier to edit and manage but also allows anyone visiting your website to accurately and consistently find the information for which they are looking.

Below is a link to a live Google document of your current sitemap that you are able to edit directly. Please go through this sitemap and make the appropriate edits to display what pages you'd like Diocesan to migrate, as well as removing the items that you do NOT want Diocesan to move.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kTmoqqkfG3lBv7TUC6lIywQP135DogL25QARGeaLByU/edit

Once you have completed editing the pages you'd like Diocesan to migrate, please let me know and we will begin making a suggested sitemap for the new site based on your current sitemap. The suggested sitemap is created to optimize the flow and look of your site. We will then send you the suggested sitemap to edit and change as needed and when finished, approve that one as well.

Thank you for choosing Diocesan and we are very excited to work with you on creating a new website for you and the people at St. Michael.

Let me know if you have any questions,

Hello Cody,

I apologize, this is confusing to me. I thought we were laying out the new site like one of the templates that was previous sent to me.

The link you sent doesn't reflect that.

Thank You,
TO THE CLIENT Cody Armock, Web Content Specialist at Diocesan

Good morning Jennifer,

I apologize for the confusion!

The look and function of your new site will be from the template that we showed you, but the content on the site will be yours to do with as you choose. The Current Sitemap that I have linked previously, is what pages you had on your old site. The reason why I sent it to you was for you to take a look at it, update it, and make sure that those are the pages that you want to be migrated over to your new site. This is not the end-all-be-all for pages. Pages and posts can definitely be added or deleted later if deemed so.

Once you have reviewed the current sitemap and any changes that needed to be made have been, we will go ahead and make a suggested sitemap. The suggested sitemap will show where we can place those pages and content you want to keep within a suitable spot on the new site. The suggested sitemap will be sent to you to review and changed as you see fit.

I hope that helps clarify this Content Strategy Process.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Hello Jennifer,

I was wondering if you had any other questions on the current sitemap and were able to edit it, so that we can put together a suggested sitemap (pages can be added and deleted later, as well as, moved around, if needed) for you, so that when the site is ready for content, we can begin moving that immediately.

With the suggested sitemap, I will include annotations about the potential or suggested design for each page, that way it will give you an idea of what the content will look like within the template site that you have chosen.

Let me know if you have any questions or if the current sitemap is ready to go.

Thank you,

Cody Armock

Hello Cody,

Thank you for reaching out. I plan to look at this today. Hopefully I can give you something to get started with either today or tomorrow.

Good Morning Jennifer,

Sounds great! I just want to make sure that we try to stick to the timeline as best as possible, so sometime early this week would be great!

Thank you!

All-in-all our new website will be a complete re-do. Not much from the old site will be incorporated.

There will not be much new content. It should be pretty simple, user friendly and pleasing to the eye.

In a nutshell, that's what we're looking for.
TO THE CLIENT Cody Armock, Web Content Specialist at Diocesan
Sounds good!

Thank you for those notes about the website! We can definitely make it simple, intuitive, and appealing! Just let me know when you are done editing the current sitemap and I will make the suggested one.

Thank you,

Hello,

I'm following up again regarding our website stmichaelctk.org (http://stmichaelctk.org).

We are getting ready to have new pictorial directories printed. I would like to publish our new url. However, I was hoping the site will be up and running once the directories get into parishioners' hands.

What is the estimated time frame of completion? Or at least a first proof/look?

Thank You,
TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan

Good morning Jennifer,

We have been following the timeline that Alan sent over to you, which has an estimated launch date of January 20 (see attached). However, we are actually about a month ahead of schedule on the development side and are set to go over the development with the developer this week and then checking the migrated content. The designer, however, would still not be able to begin logo design until December.

Since we do already have the domain, we can actually begin having the domain forward to the DiscoverMass bulletin page until the site is ready for launch (see bulletin page here). Then, once the site launches, anyone visiting the stmichaelctk.org URL would be directed to the new website.

Let me know if that is what you'd like to do and if you have any questions,

Good morning Jennifer,

I'm sorry that I was unable to speak with you yesterday but I am glad that Mary was able to help you. After relaying the conversation with me, we have decided to point your domain, http://stmichaelctk.org/, to a temporary "Coming Soon" page with the church's location, contact information, and a link to the bulletin.
Upon launch, we will have the same domain of http://stmichaelctk.org/ go to your new website.

You mentioned having the website up and running by the time the new directories were ready for distribution. Do you know when this would be? I'd like to make both of our timelines work, if possible.

Thank you,

Hello Veronica,

I wasn't necessarily thinking the final website would be ready for use by the time the directories were distributed. I was simply double/triple checking that the domain name of www.stmichaelctk.org (http://www.stmichaelctk.org) would be safe to print in the new directories so that when they are distributed and in parishioner possession for the next few years, it would be correct.

We are in the final proofing stage of the directories. I am not 100% sure when they are to be completed and distributed. I'm hoping by Christmas.

I like the idea of having a "coming soon" page if anyone were to head to the site prior to it being completed. I am perfectly happy with the originally proposed timeline.

Thank You,
TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan
Oh yes, of course. We purchased the domain http://www.stmichaelctk.org and will be using it for the coming soon page and the final domain once the new website launches.
