St. Matthew new website launch

To: Heather King and John Poteat
Hi John,

As you may know, Diocesan has been working with St. Matthew on a new website, and we're planning on launching Easter Weekend. I was referred to you to coordinate the launch.

To facilitate the transition, all we need to do is update two host records for stmatthewcatholic.org to point the site to the new server.

You will need to make the following changes to your domain name host records: 

Change the www and @ host records to be A Name types that point to: 66.232.99.21

By changing only the www and @ host records, you will update the website only and not your email.

While the official launch is planned for 3/25, I'd like to perform the switch Friday, 3/23, while we're all in the office to ensure a smooth transition, if that's ok with everybody there. 

Please reply to this email or give me a call at (877) 923-0777 to confirm or if you have any questions.

As long Heather approves, let's plan on sometime Friday morning. Once the host record change has propagated, (generally within a few hours) http://stmatthewcatholic.org/ will redirect temporarily to http://stmatthew.diocesanweb.com/. I'll then update the site URL on our end to display stmatthewcatholic.org, do a search and replace of all internal links on the site, and install an SSL certificate. I'll be in the office until 5pm EST.

Daniel, I’m getting ready to make the changes but wanted to check in first. I tried to navigate to the 66.232.99.21 address and the new site is not currently up and running. Should I hold off on making the change?

We have a variety of domains pointing to 66.232.99.21, so it won't actually show the St. Matthew site by navigating there in the browser. When stmatthew.org points to 66.232.99.21 it will show what is currently viewable at http://stmatthew.diocesanweb.com/.
