Mary School and Parish - Metamora, IL

Project Update

Good afternoon Susan, Carissa, Rich, and Gerard,

I hope everyone has been well.

As we progress with your new website, we would like to give you an update on how the progress is going this week. Here are the three main stages of how your website is progressing.
  • Design is 100% complete
  • Development is 100% complete
  • Content Migration is 100% complete
In order to continue forward with your project, we need from you:
  • Schedule 1st Training Session

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out at any time.

Thank you!

Alan, Thanks for the update. I am seeking clarity...1.) When do we review the website for content/navigation approval? That "feels" like a step before "training" but realize I don't know your process.2.) We reviewed the church/parish site link provided and have a list of some needed edits, wrong links, etc. 3.) We need other stakeholders trained, not this team. We need to be involved/represented in the process but long term maintenance will be the responsibility of others. As Gerard shared via email earlier, this is somewhat complicated now because of the summer break for the school and the current transition to BOTH a new principal and new priest. And, the three of us are parent volunteers. 4.) Is it appropriate to provide feedback on the site we previewed for the parish? Can we get the link to do the same for the school?Thank you,SusanSent from my U.S.Cellular© Smartphone

Susan,

Thank you for your reply. I am the one who will be handling the training and process from here. I can hopefully offer some clarity as to our process.

We have set up your site according to the sitemap approved at the start of this project. We then migrated (created/transferred) content from your old site to the new. The link to that site (development site) is then sent out. This allows you to look things over and make note of things you have questions, comments or concerns about.

We then meet for a two hour (ish) training session where I empower your team to make edits to the site to smooth out any of those areas you notice that need improvement. Following this training session and after you watch a few pre-recorded videos we send you, we will meet again for a follow up QA session and we will answer any questions your team has; it is at this point we discuss launching the site(s).

It is my understanding we are launching the parish site prior to the schools that is why you only received the parish link. Training is the next step so as to empower your team to make edits as needed and have a deeper understanding of the backend workings of the site and we can help with those edits as well on a case by case basis.

Hope this helps, should you need further clarification or have additional questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out via phone or simply reply to this thread using basecamp.

Ryan,That does help and makes sense, but admittedly is not what I expected. In review of the parish site, I noted a link to a parish that was not ours, a footer with an address to a parish that was not ours, and copy referencing "Sunday School" which we do not offer and have not in the 25+ years I have lived in the community. Clearly, those things were not on our site map or within the copy we provided. That is the basis for my question and interest in the process and next steps. I don't feel like the link is a fair representation of the site map we provided. SusanSent from my U.S.Cellular© Smartphone

Susan,

Thank you for the response.

Are you able to provide me with the URL to the page(s) you mentioned? I can fix those for you, that's no problem. Alternatively, a screenshot of the page(s) would work too. These are the types of things we can easily change/adjust in the training together. That said, I be happy to adjust these for you now.

Thank you,

Afternoon,

I went ahead and ran the site back through our testing/quality control check and made some changes. Would you mind looking things over again and tell me if the issues you mentioned are fixed?
