Content Strategy
Good Afternoon Kendall & Laura,
I hope you have been doing well since you last spoke with Alan.
My name is Cody Armock and my role here in Diocesan's web department is as a content specialist. This means, that in addition to going over what areas of your current website are staying or going, I also help you find the most effective way to layout your website. I will be helping you in this process from now until the training before the launch of the site.
This not only helps us build you a website that is easier to edit and manage but also allows anyone visiting your website to accurately and consistently find the information for which they are looking.
Thinking about content before the design is important because it will make the design process easier and tailor it better to your needs. It is similar to building a house. Content strategy is figuring out how many bedrooms and square footage you need when picking floorplans. The design process is the customizing of the space (walls, flooring, exterior, colonial vs modern style, etc.). Content migration/creation is the filling of your rooms with furniture and your possessions. Without the content strategy process, the house may not suit your needs.
Below is a link to a live Google document of your current sitemap that you are able to edit directly. Please go through this sitemap and make the appropriate edits to display what pages you'd like Diocesan to migrate, as well as removing the items that you do NOT want Diocesan to move.
Once you have completed editing the pages you'd like Diocesan to migrate, please let me know and we will begin making a suggested sitemap for the new site based on your current sitemap. The suggested sitemap is created to optimize the flow and look of your site. We will then send you the suggested sitemap to edit and change as needed and when finished, approve it.
Once you approve the suggested sitemap, we will begin the design process. A designer will reach out to you to begin the design process when we have received the final version of the suggested sitemap. In order for the designer to provide the best design, it is important to revise the current sitemap.

Hi Cody –
Very sorry about the delay on this. We’ve been scrambling to pull things together since the Shutter order.
Over the past few weeks we have made several changes to our website so the site maps you did a few weeks ago are no longer current.
Let me know what the best way to go about handling this is – I don’t know if you want to redo the current site map and then have us get in and rework, or if we can/should just rework from what you have on the google doc right now.
I’ll wait to hear from you & we will go from there.

If it not too much trouble, do you mind changing the current sitemap to reflect the changes that are on your current sitemap? Otherwise, what I can do is make a Suggested Sitemap based on your site and the pages on it since I would imagine all the pages on the site now are the ones that you want to keep. You can revise the Suggested Sitemap, as I will send it to you to review.
