First Proofs
Good Afternoon,
I have some proofs for you to look at. Like we talked before about the option of having and "coming soon" page. Here is what I have for you.

Some initial thoughts.
Could Mass times and email address be included on the “Coming Soon” page?
Saturday Mass at 5:00 pm should be added to the Sunday Mass at 10:30 am
The background picture of Mary. Would the Mary statue in front of the church personalize it more to St. Mary Pella
The email address listed at the bottom is incorrect. Should be stmarypella@iowatelecom.net. Or is it time to bite the bullet and go with pellastmary@diodav.org and what are the implications with this kind of a change?
Assuming “Our Mission” and “Parish News” will be in English when the time comes.

Sam,
This looks overall good to me. The notation about Sunday Mass
however, would need to read: Our Masses of Sunday: Vigil Mass of Sunday, Saturday 5:00 p.m.; Sunday Mass 10:30 a.m.. My wording here is not beyond editing but it is important to clearly state that at St. Mary Parish, Pella has at its church a Saturday Vigil of Sunday Mass and a Mass on Sunday morning.
I welcome Jon and Elisa to weigh in on this thought: St. Mary, Pella given its partnership with St. Mary, Oskaloosa has 4 Sunday Mass: Two at St. Mary Church, Pella, and two at St. Mary Church, Oskaloosa: 5:00 p.m. Saturday - Pella, 8:00 a.m. Sunday - Oskaloosa, 10:30 a.m. Sunday - Pella and 5:00 p.m. Sunday - Oskaloosa. If it can be clearly and easily understood I would favor noting all 4 Masses at their various locations as the Sunday Masses of St. Mary, Pella. In any event both the Saturday Vigil of Sunday and the Day of Sunday Masses need to be noted.

All,
Jon, you raise a good question as to email address. What is working but going to the diodav would be in line with the overall standard diocesan email format. If as I think, we could easily set the iowatelecom
to automatically forward to the diodav, I would favor this.

Hi -
Please note that these are just my opinions…
Jon’s emails:
1. Coming soon Page: I think the coming soon page (+ mass times) will be very lovely for the advent season.
2. The background picture of Mary: Yes, a picture of our statue would definitely personalize it – but it needs to be an artistic/professional picture of her.
3. “Our Mission” and “Parish News” is in Lorem Ipsum. It’s a fake non-language used for place holders for things like this.
Father John’s emails:
1. I think the Vigil Mass of Sunday on Saturday at 5:00 pm, while technically, unnecessarily confusing and could cause people to arrive on Sunday night.
* Can we, instead, list a mass times on Saturday and Sunday?
* Is there a material difference between the two that a lay person would recognize and then choose one way or the other?
* Sam: what do most churches do?
2. Relationship with St. Mary’s in Oskaloosa: how about instead of listing their mass times, let’s include a link or Icon to “Visit our Sister Parish – St. Mary’s in Oskaloosa”
My thoughts:
1. I really like the colors.
2. The layouts look really good.
3. Referencing St. Mary’s Oskaloosa: maybe we could put a link on about us page.
4. In the event there’s not a picture to go with a Parish news item, what would show in its place?
5. Father John & Jon: please review the old site (to you still have the webarchive.org link?) Is there anything on the home page on the old site that you want to make sure you get onto the new site?
Thanks!
Elisa

Good Morning,
Elisa is correct, the text is just filler for the time being as we work through the design. Content will come later, this goes for images as well.
As for the mass times, most churches present their mass times as Saturday and Sunday rather that Sunday Vigil and Sunday, it helps reduce any confusion for new or returning visitors.
We usually include some stock imagery with the site so you have the option to either fill that area with and for news it could be an image of a newspaper or a simple breakfast scene with a newspaper in the frame. We also have the option to not include an image but that would also leave a space. I will talk with the developers a bit to see what they usually do and see if we have a full proof solution.
I have to look through a a few more thing this morning before getting to some of this but I can make these changes and send them by the end of the day!
Thanks,
Samuel Lanning

Sam and All,
St. Mary, Pella makes use of the Diocesan Parish App.. In this time prior to our having a complete and working website could a simple information page provide a link to the St. Mary, Pella Parish App. This would provide a means of giving out parish information until the website is fully active.
