Training Scheduling

Good Afternoon Al & Fr. Jegar,


I had a talk with Al today about launching the school site on December 1st. We finished migration of the sites earlier this week and Arthur is going through the testing phase of the website right now to make sure things are as they should be. With that said, this is a bit of an exception to the standard procedure. Normally, we would wait until everything is the way it should be and then send out the development link to you both and then schedule training, but with a short timeline and the shortened week next week. I wanted to schedule at least the first training with you both before we go live with the school site. This serves a two-fold purpose. 

Firstly, it gives you user accounts to change and edit the site before it goes live and secondly, it provides the absolutely necessary information on how to edit the most prominent and important things on the website. In the second training, we will cover Forms and Envira Gallery. Fr. Jegar, I know Forms was a big area for your sitemap and things like that, but I do not know if you wanted to launch or would be ready to launch on December 1st and with no content on the Church side that may take some more time to get ready. You can always change/add/remove content after the site is launched as well.

So, with all of that said, I would like to schedule a training with you two this week to go over the Homepage, Pages, Posts, Theme Settings (things that are across the site), and Menus. The necessary parts of the site. The trainings will be about 2 hours each. I am available for training tomorrow and Friday 9am - 3pm (so latest start at 1pm), and Thursday between 1pm - 4pm.

colors seem to be off again for our site. And its not updating as it should be.

I have been messing around with the website and have a few questions. Also, the colors randomly changed and are nolonger the colors we had chosen.

As for the color changing, I saw dark blue on your website. Where and on what page are you talking about? It might also be helpful to send a screenshot of what you are talking about. If you do, please enter the picture into the body of the email because Basecamp does not always show attachments. I can then take a look at it and see if I can help you or have a developer fix the problem.

The colors have returned to normal. They were green and tan. It has randomly done this in the past as well.

There are things that I have been editing but then when I go to update it is actually not updated. I have refreshed the page many times. For example the pictures for the featured items on the home page have been changed but will not update on the site.

Hello Fr,

Our developer fixed the Image Button issue. Have you noticed if there are there any other places where it won't update on the website? 

As for the color randomly changing, we checked to see if we could make the colors change properly on our end and it seemed to work. The colors are back to normal from our test. There is not an easy way to track theme-setting revisions. Please take some screenshots and let us know what you did if this ever happens again. This will help us figure out what the issue is.

Hey Cody,

I was in contact with Alan about our meetings. It was very difficult to follow the last meeting via zoom. The mouse cursor was skipping around and the screen was moving so fast it was hard even to know where you were doing anything. If at all possible, we would really like an in person meeting.

That being said, I had also mentioned how frustrated I was with how under-developed the Parish side of the website was. I understand I had asked that we did not transfer any material from the old site, but I still assumed that the pages would be developed in terms of some sort of template. As of now, I am having to go in and create every page myself. We had discussed using part of next meeting developing the pages with you?

Here are three options for moving forward:

1. You receive a two-hour training in person. There will be a travel charge outside of the total that is covered by the bulletin credit.
  • (Travel Charge) 50 dollar flat charge
  • (Gas Charge) + 50 cents per mile both ways
    • (64 miles x 2 = 128 miles)
  • $50 + (128 x .50) = $114
2. We do a recording and send you the video for your own use.

3. We have the second Zoom training.

As you move forward and maintain your website, there are many resources on how to maintain a WordPress website. A mutually beneficial idea would be to get a student intern to help you. You would make a good reference and they would have something to put on their resume.

1. You and I will meet for 30 mins to an hour and work together to get a sense of how to stylize your content using the different Guetenburg blocks. This time will not be charged.

2. Cody will drive up to guide your second training. Travel coasts are not included in the bulletin web credit. The two hours of training are already apart of the proposal.
