Content Strategy & Migration

Good morning Nikolai and John,

I am Veronica, the content specialist. This means that my job is to make sure your content is as clear, accurate, and easy-to-find as possible. Also, I work to make sure that the editing side of the website is easy for you to manage.

As a former administrative assistant at a Catholic church (1 of 3 employees), I feel your struggle! So I also work to make sure that the editing side of your website will mean a website that requires minimal work, yet is completely up to date, once you have launched and are all ready to go!

Click here for the list of pages that I will be migrating.

Below are some items that I needed to get started on content:
  1. Sitemap
Here is the sitemap you proposed in the initial consultation, but here is how I have tweaked it, so that everything fits in the top menu, as well as the featured items (boxes) on the homepage and links in your footer.
Feel free to edit the Proposed Sitemap, as needed.
  2. Calendar
I know your calendar is managed through FellowshipOne and we were provided the link, but is there a login for this management system so that I can find how to display it on the website, or find an iFrame link to use on your website?
OR did we want to simply link to the calendar instead?
Once the sitemap is edited and approved, I will begin migrating each of the pages that are in the sitemap. Since Diocesan will only be moving ~30% of the content, this means that I will only be moving the pages in the menu.

Then, one the website is ready for you, I will get you trained right away so that you can begin moving the remainder of the content. This helps keep the cost of your project on track for the 10 hours of content migration, instead of 20+ hours for moving all your website's pages.

Let me know if you have any questions!

FROM THE CLIENT John West, St. Mary Immaculate Parish Staff
Hi Veronica,

Thanks for sending this along. I made a few minor edits to the Sitemap that reflected more accurately what I had talked with Blake about.

I changed the featured buttons to just 4. Mass Times, Calendar, Bulletins, and My Parish App.
I changed the titles of some of the parts on the homepage. I took out "Home" and replaced "Mass Times" with "Parish School" (which would link to the school site).
I changed "Education" to "Faith Formation" and the "Sacraments" section will go under Faith Formation. Since the school has it's own heading, I took that out of Faith Formation side. Blake and I had talked about the drop-down for each Sacrament and having them all listed on one page with a bit of copy on each Sacrament. I left the headings there as an indicator which drop-downs we wanted.

For the calendar, having it link to the calendar would be sufficient.

If there are any questions for me, please let me know!

Thanks,
John
TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan
Thank you for making the necessary changes on the proposed sitemap. They all make sense, especially with what you had discussed with Blake.
As for the calendar, we will be sure to link directly to it.

Thank you and if you have anymore photos you'd like us to use for the website, feel free to send them my way!
