Good morning Barbara & Judy,

As we prepare to launch your website this morning (10:30am - 2:00 pm EST), we ask that you please refrain from logging into the website and making any changes until you receive an email from us letting you know that your website is launched. This way, nothing will be overwritten or go unsaved as we change URLs and add SSL certificates.

Please let us know if you have any questions, otherwise, someone from our team will reach out to you this afternoon.

Morning, We are trying to close our old website and the directions that were given to us are not making any sense. Can you close it?

Here is what he said to do? Thanks Barbara

To change the DNS settings on the domain you can go to the main domain console. Go to www.ChurchSquare.com (http://www.ChurchSquare.com) and then click on the support tab in the main menu. The last button on the left is the domain console login.

Barbara, I don't know what is meant by that.
Once the new website is live, you can contact ChurchSquare to cancel the hosting for the website for them (more instructions to follow) , since the new website is hosted through Diocesan (us).

I am not sure why they are telling you about changing the DNS Settings through them since that is currently done through GoDaddy, but we will be transferring the domain to us shortly (in the next few days once the site is launched, Mary will be reaching out to you for the GoDaddy code then) as well, so everything will be managed in one place.

Hi Cody,

Well, we did it!

Getting lots of great compliments of it!! Thank you!

I do see a couple of things and I am not sure if only you can make the changes or I can.

1. On the bottom, it needs to say. St. Mary’s Cathedral, too many St. Mary’s around here, one is 30 minutes away!
2. On the pages that have the wheat fields, (example bulletin page) The white wording is washout at least on my computer!. Again not sure who can do this.
3. Overlays on the front still need to be lighter. I do believe that is your side.
4. The last one is our font. I am trying to do the St. Mary’s in our new font and it's not working. I have Cinzel and Montserrat fonts but are not matching up. Can you help me? I can't get the fancy “M”.
5. Thanks, Barbara

Hello Barbara,

1. On the bottom, it needs to say. St. Mary’s Cathedral, too many St. Mary’s around here, one is 30 minutes away!
Response: This should be fixed and you can do a hard-refresh for it (Instructions)

2. On the pages that have the wheat fields, (example bulletin page) The white wording is washout at least on my computer!. Again not sure who can do this.
Response: There should be a text-shadow around the text that makes it more readable. This is what the image overlay/filter was for, but I also changed the default featured image to rainbow over the cathedral so it is less bright too.

3. Overlays on the front still need to be lighter. I do believe that is your side.
Response: I have taken the Overlays off pretty much everywhere. Are you talking about the featured items on the homepage? This was in the original design and you will run into the issue of text readability issues like #2 above if we take the overlay off.

4. The last one is our font. I am trying to do the St. Mary’s in our new font and it's not working. I have Cinzel and Montserrat fonts but are not matching up. Can you help me? I can't get the fancy “M”.
Response:
After figuring out what font it was, and loading the font on the site, we have figured out a way for you to use it without changing it everywhere (big issue with readability and design differences (would need to be quoted out). There is an example of it on the Styles page.

How to use it for those times that you absolutely want to use it on the inner pages or posts (custom pages such as Homepage will remain like the original proof),
  1. Create a heading block like normal using either '/heading' or the plus button.
  2. Add the text that you would like to say in the heading
  3. In the Block Attributes in the Sidebar Settings, open the Advanced accordion and add the word "decorative" to the Additional CSS class(es)
  4. Click the blue Publish/Update button in the top right.

I hope that helps answer your questions!

The changes look awesome!!! Thanks and I have the new fonts.

Our music director would like permission and directions on how to put our worship aid (Sunday readings and songs on the webpage. We use the parish app and she does that each week.

Kristen Schulte music@stmarysgi.com (mailto:music@stmarysgi.com) She would only be an editor.

I am not sure where we would put that. Do you?

Hello Barbara,

What would Kristen need access to in terms of the website, so I can set up the role appropriately? For instance, does she need access to theme settings, forms, envira gallery, access to editing other's posts/pages, the menu, etc.

Once I know this I can set up her account and send it out to her.

As for where to put it, I would think having it under the  "About Us" menu item would be fine labeled as "Worship Aid" and it would just be a post that is updated every week. Would the Sunday Readings and Songs be a PDF or an image or what exactly? That would help me know how to instruct.

Thank you,

Hello Judy,

Depending on screen sizes, the site will automatically wrap things.

I think I fixed the Mass Times wrapping thing, at least now, the whole time should go to a new line. I also just added a newline between the street address and the city for the address in the footer.

I hope this works!

Hey Cody,

Sorry I did not reply sooner. I had my 2nd shot on Tuesday and Wednesday I was out with a huge headache and achy but better today.

I like your suggestion “about us”! and yes that is what she will need. I will give her an icon for her to use. I believe that is what she does for the parish app.

Kristen will need only: Sunday Readings (Maybe she copy and paste the readings) and Songs a PDF or an image.

I can double-check her today and we meet tomorrow for staff and I will know the answer for sure.

Thanks, Barbara

Good Afternoon Barbara,

I CC'd you on the email to Kristen with the credentials. I have decided to make the Worship Aid a page that she is the author of and that she can publish. I have also set it up already in terms of formatting for what I thought to be the best layout of it. Right now, it is just a link to another page that I made for the myParish app where users can go to download it and automatically set their homepage to your parish.

All you have to do is when that page is ready/filled out, add the Worship Aid page to the menu (which we covered in the first training).

Let me know if you have any questions!

Question. In my dashboard, I see Fr. Jim's notes and I have been updating them but I do not see them on the webpage, or am I going nuts? Did we not add that to our webpage?

I found it once and not I can’t so I am assuming it was on our test page and not the reality?

Can we plug that in?

Barbara

Hello Barbara,

I have added the archive page under the About Us menu item. Feel free to move it. You can create new posts each week for each "Fr. Jim's Note" instead of updating the same post if you would like that. Otherwise, if you plan on just updating the same post each week and saving it, I would make it a page and just adding that to the menu and removing the category archive.

Have a great weekend!

Hey Cody

I trying to change the picture on the Prayer request, not the front page but once you click on it you see an altar at Christmas time. I do not know how to change the 2nd picture. I put a new image in the library already.

In the library, I see folders, when I put something in there it still stays on the bigger page. I am trying not to have so many pictures but in-group/file folders. Is this possible?

Thanks, Barbara

Hello Barbara,

Can you please send a link to the page with the Christmas Altar? I am not seeing that image on that page. (screenshot below).

To see the smaller version of the Media library without the files that have been sorted, you can click the on the folder that says Uncategorized. This will show you those files that have no folder as of yet and will not show those in the categories. (there are a couple versions of the 11_00-am-3rd-sunday-of-lent-m pdf, so that might look incorrect, but they are different files)

I did get the picture change on the parish news but still seeing the heart and hand. Screenshot this time:

This is what is showing for prayer list now, really bad image,

Thanks for the library notes.

TO THE CLIENT Cody Armock, Web Content Specialist at Diocesan
Hello Barbara,

So the news post has that Heart in hand image because that is in the content for that post. You can remove that image block and the picture will go away.

As for the Prayer Chain/Request ministry, that is the ministry featured image and the previous image was 107 wide by 156 pixels tall and it was being place in a space rough 1903x530, so that stretching of a factor of 19 will make the image bad, so I replace the featured image with the one of the woman praying and just added the photo that was used as the featured image as part of the content of the ministry.

I hope that helps explain what was going on with those images and I will not weigh-in on your computer's feelings towards you!

Both of your emails just came through, at about 12am (midnight), so it was probably the transfer of the site and that can cause some issues with email delays.

Where was the Worship Aid? Was it a page or a post or a custom external link that was in the menu? Where was it displayed on the website?
