Content Strategy & Sitemaps
Good Morning Magdalena,
I hope you have been doing well since you last spoke with Danae.
My name is Cody Armock and my role here in Diocesan's web department is as a content specialist. This means, that in addition to going over what areas of your current website are staying or going, I also help you find the most effective way to layout your website. I will be helping you in this process from now until the training before the launch of the site.
This not only helps us build you a website that is easier to edit and manage but also allows anyone visiting your website to accurately and consistently find the information for which they are looking.
Below are links to Google documents of your current and proposed sitemap. The current sitemap shows your current site's menu structure and flow. The proposed sitemap is what we suggest for your menu based on our previous experience and what would work best in terms of usability. The proposed sitemap is created to optimize the flow and look of your site.
You can edit the proposed sitemap however you would like, adding pages, removing pages, etc. The proposed sitemap will act as a guide for the content migration process. Please edit the document directly to ensure that the same edits stay throughout all versions and that the content migration process is accurate.

Thank you for choosing Diocesan and we are very excited to work with you on creating a new website for you and the people at St. Lawrence School.

Good Morning Magdalena,
While Diocesan will not be migrating content, we will be setting up the homepage, sample posts, and a style page before going through the first training session with them. I went through the sitemap flowchart that you sent over. This should help you in the content migration process and you can edit the document and use it for taking notes or cross off items that you have migrated.
Have a great weekend,
Cody Armock

No problem at all, I'm very comfortable moving content over, having been using the Parish site for months now.
The suggested site map looks great. I can start compiling a series of word documents from the current site to transfer when the time comes. Is that a good way to proceed with this aspect?

Hello Maggie,
The way that I find best is to just copy over from the current website, that way you are not migrating the content twice, once to the Word Doc and then from the Word Doc to the new site. However, if you want to style it out, you can use the Word Doc to do that and then just copy and paste into WordPress and that will usually configure it correctly. It is up to you though.

Hi Cody,
https://wpstream.net/
Can I please get the free trial of this Wordpress Widget installed on our Parish website? I'm looking to test it out as a possible alternative to VidLive. Thank you! 🙂

Hello Maggie,
I have added it. I will leave it to you to set it up and use. Let me know which one you go with, so we can remove the other one that we don't need.
Thank you,
Cody Armock

Hi Cody,
Sorry to backtrack, but without admin access to modify settings on widgets, i don't think this solution is viable. I didn't realize it would need me to go into the settings a few times down the line to adjust the account creditials, etc.
We can remove it from the site for now, so sorry. I will continue trying to troubleshoot the VidLive code for the time being.

Hi Cody,
I'm reaching out to follow up on an old issue. We're still not receiving notifications via email when one of the forms on our website is filled out. Could we schedule a time to revisit this and try to find another solution?
Thank you so much! 🙂

Hello Magdalena,
Is it just for a particular form or email that is not receiving the notifications or is it for any form and any email that you put in the Notification field? Just to make sure, have you checked the sendto email in the Notifications and/or checked that emails junk/spam folder for the notifications. There are often times ways to whitelist the email so that it doesn't send to spam again.
If you would like to, we can schedule a meeting to go over it more in-depth tomorrow at 1pm or next week sometime.
