Website Updates

Good morning Father Tyler and Lanny,

As I said this morning, you should have gotten emails regarding the login information for the new users (lvelasco, rcopeland, parishadmin).
If you did not receive these emails, please let me know and I will send you the passwords to the accounts (which may be changed at a later date).

Since we are planning on launching by the end of this week (December 21 or 22), we still need to finish several pages. Hopefully, these pages will be completed by the Mass announcements this weekend, so that the parishioners can see the site in it's entirety.

I have attached what each of the sites is missing and will be available if you need help with WordPress.

Thank you and I look forward to launching your site soon!

Thanks Veronica,

This is very helpful. So far I've been doing all the editing since Lanny is swamped with Christmas. Turns out we're doing just a soft launch with Christmas, etc. Then after Christmas I'm doing a training with all the staff so that we're on the same page for communications policies.

So the hard launch will be mid January giving me some more time to finish some of the pages.

Thanks,

Father,

I will make a note of this and let our developer know as well.
I can see how Christmas can be a little hectic, so no rush!
Since the website is already on the correct domain, all we have to do to launch is allow it to appear in Google searches (right now it is hidden).

I went ahead and put January 11 as when I will check up on how the edits are coming along and January 18 as the tentative launch date.

If this does not sound realistic, simply let me know and I can easily change it.

Veronica,

Just a short list of a few things I've encountered that I think have to be changed on your end. Questions for the developers:

1. On the landing page:

1. change Mi to MI
2. link bulletins to bulletins page
3. link Mass Times to calendar

2. Clergy/Staff page

1. When I added a staff person (myself) it created a problem where Karol (business manager) is on her own line. It looks funny. Not sure how to fix it.

3. Calendar looks great. Thanks so much!

I'm still working on the Funeral page and some of the sacramental information. Will get those up after Christmas.

Thanks so much for your help!

Also another problem I've encountered on a few of the pages:

Whenever I edit pages with special code (on the Formed.org page and on the contact us page) the special code disappears. Like my account doesn't allow me to add any special code. It seems problematic since some of those pages would need to be edited once an a while.

Also is there a way to secure our email addresses to prevent bots from spaming our email address? [Like something from this website: http://www.bronze-age.com/nospam/]

No rush on these questions. Will talk later.

Thanks and Merry Christmas

Good morning Father Tyler,

I have sent your changes to our developer, Micheal, but have run into some issues.
  • For the HTML editor or "Text Editor" on WordPress, we have not been able to find a solution. It seems since there are two sites and you are not a "Super Administrator," it is not letting you add the code.
We are still looking for a solution.
Until then, feel free to let me know where you would like to code to go and I can put it in for now.
  • To secure the emails, I will ask about the Javascript coding option, but then we still run into the problem of us having to go in and edit the emails each time they change.
As one last thing, do we still plan on taking the website live tomorrow?

Hopefully we can resolve these issues before the new year,

Father,

I do believe we have solved the HTML issue!

As for the emails, the only way we could do it is manually replace the @ symbol with "at", but then it wouldn't be a link. We are still looking into this, but this may be the easiest way.
