Design Introduction
Hello Julie,
My name is Maggie ONeill and I am the web designer at Diocesan that will be working with you on your new web project. I am reaching out to let you know that we are nearly ready to begin the design process.
In order to begin the design process, we need from you:
- A logo
- Any details about your branding, (example: font names and colors used)
Thank you for your cooperation as we work hard to deliver a beautiful new site for you!
Have a great day and I will talk to you soon!

Hello Maggie,
Thank you so much for reaching out to me. Our parish is so excited to begin this process of a new website.
As for a brand or logo, we honestly don’t have one. The only thing we use is a pic of our parish which is what I’ve attached below.
As for any fonts and colors….
Whatever looks more stylish but classy. Nothing too crazy but conveys a sense of class and holiness. Colors…. Maybe blues and greens, different shades but mostly deep blues/navy’s and greens, like what st Jude wears in any depicted artwork. We really don’t have a color scheme, but those colors would be nice. Maybe even some golds or browns mixed in. You choose what looks best. ❤️❤️ I’ll read your other email and respond as soon as I can. Thank you so very much for all you do and I’m so grateful for your help. Look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely yours in Christ,

Hello Julie,
Thank you for all this info! We can absolutely get you set up with a nice muted, classy blue and gold based color scheme. As for your logo, that's definitely something to consider. Your logo will be featured in the upper left hand corner of your site. It's almost always the first thing someone sees when they come to your website and it's a good way to make all communications from your parish instantly recognizable.
In general, photographs do not make good logos and for copyright reasons we cannot use any photographs that you did not take yourself on your site (nothing downloaded from Google). We have an in-house design team that can get you set up with your own personalized logo, although this will come at an additional cost. Otherwise, you can design your own logo for free at canva.com and send that along for us to use.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks and God bless,

Thank you so much for all of this great information. We probably are fine without a logo. We are currently looking for a beautiful picture that we could use of the inside of our parish during a Mass, that we can use as a main picture that you see when you first visit our website. Right now our website shows an empty church, and I'd rather show one that's full and alive.
Thank you so very much. Working on that site map now.

Good morning Julie,
Your logo is what makes first impressions and will give new people a way to associate with your church. Having an image of mass for your logo will be very cramped. That being said, the image of your church being full would be great for the 'Hero Image' area (the welcome area that is between the buttons and header in the first screenshot). The logo area is pretty small. Attached are screenshots of the Alphonsus Template and where your logo will go:

You can see how small the area for a logo will be. An icon is not needed - You can create just a word logo if you feel that would be best. Canva.com is a free tool that I used all the time as a youth minister. Below is a screenshot of the St. Alphonsus Text logo as an example. There are many text logos out there that are only word logos like Coke.

Arthur,
Thank you so very much for your email! That’s what I was thinking, but I just couldn’t remember what the actual area was called. Yes, I would love a picture of our church filled with people as the hero image. Our pastor doesn’t care for any kind of branding or logos, as long as it’s typed up there somehow that we are St Jude Catholic Church, that’s really all that he wants. I’m so sorry if I caused any confusion but I sincerely appreciate your clarification and help. Thank you so much!!!

Good morning! 😃
Hope you are doing wonderful.
My Pastor asked for an update yesterday so I was just curious how everything is coming and if we have an idea of a projected ready date for the website, that I can inform him of.
Were you able to successfully use the domain login info?
I still haven’t spoken to Matt, our other guy. I’ll wait until we’re closer to inform him.
Thank you so much for all you do! ❤️

Good morning Julie,
Thanks for following up! I hope you're doing wonderful as well!
I'm currently working with our developers to fix a couple things that are holding up the design approval process. Once those are resolved I will be sending along screenshots of your home page with the proposed color scheme and fonts for your approval, which you can share with your pastor.
Once the design has been approved we'll move you over into the content queue. When your site is at the top, we'll get to work on moving your content over onto the new site. This process usually takes about five days, depending on our schedule and how much content you have on your old site.
After your content has been migrated onto the new site we'll send you a development link so that you can see what your new site looks like and at that point we'll schedule an initial training session where we'll walk you through how to edit the site. Arthur, our Project Manager, has a better sense of timelines on our end and the macro-scale of all our projects, so if you want I can let him know and he can give you a more specific estimate.
As for the domain info, that becomes relevant once we have a date pinned down for launch, which will happen after we have you trained on how to edit the site.
Please let me know if you have any other questions in the meantime!
