Content Strategy and Sitemap

Hello again Julie,

I hope you've been well since you last spoke with Alan. I know you just received an email from me a few minutes ago about your site design; I'm going to be working with you on both the content side as well as the design side so I've got some more information for you.

My name is Maggie ONeill and my role here in Diocesan's Web Department is as a Content Specialist. This means, that in addition to going over what areas of your current website are staying or going, I also help you find the most effective way to layout your website. This not only helps us build you a website that is easier to edit and manage but also allows anyone visiting your website to accurately and consistently find the information for which they are looking.

Below are links to a Google document of your proposed sitemap. The proposed sitemap is what we suggest for your menu based on our previous experience and what would work best in terms of usability. The proposed sitemap is created to optimize the flow and look of your site.

You can edit the proposed sitemap however you would like, adding pages, removing pages, etc. The proposed sitemap will act as a guide for the content migration process. Please edit the document directly to ensure that the same edits stay throughout all versions and that the content migration process is accurate. Also attached below is a quick how to video on understanding how a sitemap is organized. I am available to meet via Google Meet to clear up any questions you may have as well, just reach out and let me know by replying to this thread.

Maggie,

Thank you so very much for reaching out to me with this beautiful site map. I'd like to go over this with my Deacon tomorrow and then I'll get right back to you. Just want to be sure we don't omit anything necessary and that we have everything in its proper place.

I can't thank you enough for all you're doing to help our parish out with our new website. We are so excited for this process and look forward to the end result.

Please keep me posted and never hesitate to reach out to me should you need anything.

Hello Maggie,

I went over the site map with our Deacon. He would like it to look something like this. I noticed it looked like the Ministries had been organized perhaps by category. If there's any way that we could keep them individually listed out, it would help out parishioners a great deal, if possible. :) Let me know what you think.

Hi Julie,

Looks great! We can definitely keep the ministries all listed individually on one page if that's what you would prefer.

Just so you know, when it comes time to migrate content over to the new site all we're able to do is pull things over from your old website. We don't create new content from scratch here. So if there's any info on your site that's outdated or things that you want to add, it would be great if you could assemble that and send it along. If not, I'll just pull over what I see on your old site.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks and God bless,

Sounds perfect! You've been a tremendous help.

I know it seems like a lot, with respect to the ministries, but I think our parishioners are used to seeing it laid out that way.

I just worked on a page yesterday for the Knights of Columbus and now that one is up to date. If there is anything else you can think of that I need to do for you, never hesitate to reach out. I'm very appreciative for all your help. :)
