Content Strategy
Good morning Kelly,
I hope you have been doing well since you last spoke with Nathalie.
My name is Cody Armock and my role here in Diocesan's web department is as a content specialist. This means, that in addition to going over what areas of your current website are staying or going, I also help you find the most effective way to layout your website. I will be helping you, in this process, from now until the training before the launch of the site.
This not only helps us build you a website that is easier to edit and manage but also allows anyone visiting your website to accurately and consistently find the information they are looking for.
Thinking about content before the design is important because it will make the design process easier and tailor it better your needs. It is similar to building a house. Content strategy is figuring out how many bedrooms and square footage you need when picking floorplans. The design process is the customizing of the space (walls, flooring, exterior, colonial vs modern style, etc.) Content Migration/Creation is the filling of your rooms with furniture and your possessions. Without the content strategy process, the house may not suit your needs.
Below is a link to a live, Google document of your Current Sitemap that you are able to edit directly. Please go through this Sitemap and make the appropriate edits to display what pages you'd like Diocesan to migrate, as well as removing the items that you do NOT want Diocesan to move.

Once you have completed editing the pages you'd like Diocesan to migrate, please let me know and we will begin making a suggested sitemap for the new site based off of your current sitemap. The suggested sitemap is created to optimize the flow and look of your site. We will then send you the suggested sitemap to edit and change as needed and then approve it.
Once you approve the suggested sitemap, we will begin the design process. A designer will reach out to you when we have received the final version of the suggested sitemap. In order for the designer to provide the best design, it is important to revise the Current Sitemap. Once that is completed, they will reach out to you to schedule a meeting to begin the design consultation process.
Thank you for choosing Diocesan and we are very excited to work with you on creating a new website for you and the people at St. Joseph.
Let me know if you have any questions,

Good Morning Cody,
Thank you for your patience. I was away on vacation and am just catching up with back emails now.
I have edited the doc https://docs.google.com/document/d/15s4M31-h_sMiwtil8aRWjAVRhfkoZXWoF4ji02hZWCc/edit
and have a couple of comments/questions. First, I put in items that didn't have links but want them on the page. Was that wrong? were you just looking for just links? Second, will I have ability to add items/links after the site goes live? Periodically, my pastor wants to add different items. Should I ask for you to build in spaces to do this in the future? A couple of days ago my pastor was told by his parish council that making a website should not take months. Can you let me know approximately how long it will take to get our site to go live? Additionally, he wants to have an app for phones. Is that something that can be done while you build the new website? Lastly, if you see something in my doc that looks like a glaring error, please don't hesitate to let me know.
I appreciate you help with all of my questions.
Sincerely in Christ,
Kelly

Hello Kelly,
Current Sitemap
That is absolutely fine to put in items that do not have links. It was not wrong in the slightest. It helps us to figure out the best design for your site and helps us to create the most effective sitemap for you and your users.
Changing the site later on
The site is definitely not static and will always be changing, from adding new posts about upcoming news and events to updating pages and media, so there is plenty of room to add different items to the site. What usually happens is that the Main Menu items stay the same i.e. Home, About Us, Ministries, Sacraments, etc. and the things under those items may differ, Ministries may change or be added, something may be added under About Us.
Timeline
As for the timeline, we will have to get back to you on that, so that we can give you the most accurate estimate for the site to go live. Veronica, our project manager, will be working on the timeline and will get back to you with it soon.
App for Phone
As for the App for Phones, we have the myParish App, which is a way for your parishioners to stay up-to-date with Church news, a way for them to receive messages, have the Daily Readings at their fingertips, and all sorts of other helpful tools in one app. If you wish to inquire further about the myParish app you can call 800-994-9817 and ask for Marc, or Pamela, or you can email them at myparishapp@diocesan.com.
Mobile Website
The website we create for you will be available on Mobile and will be Mobile Responsive (meaning that it will look one way on desktops and laptops, and change to have it fit the content and design on phones and tablets. In the design process, the designer will create Mobile Mockups of the Homepage to give you an idea of what the site will look like on phones.
Site Process
Don't worry about any errors (if there are any) in the sitemap, as we will be creating a suggested sitemap that we will send to you soon, which will be a Google Doc just like this one. Once we send that, you can edit it in any way you like and get it back to us and once the design process is done and the build has been mostly completed, we will begin the content migration process.
I will let you know if I have any questions and please do the same for me!
Have a blessed weekend,
Cody Armock
