Development Link & Training

Good afternoon Fr. Barr,

We have reached the point in the development process in which we share the link to the development site with you. First, I wanted to go over the missing content from the website and then get into the training and development site.

Things We Need From You
We do still need some information from you, if possible. Otherwise, we can simply remove these items from the main menu and website.
  • Staff Photos for the Staff Page (preferably 2:3 aspect ratio, so Portrait)

Training
The first training session typically takes ~2 hours and is done remotely via Diocesan's screen share program. We will send over the meeting link and phone number to dial in in a subsequent email.

During the training sessions, we go over:
  • How to edit the homepage content
  • How to edit the footer
  • How to edit the menu
  • How to create/edit inner pages
  • How to create/edit posts
  • How to create/edit/use image galleries
  • How to create/edit/use online forms
  • Any other questions that you may have
Since this can be a lot, we break the training down into two sessions:
  1. Editing the site basics  (pages, posts, menu, homepage)
  2. Editing the additional site features & answering follow-up questions (forms, galleries, etc.)
This is completely up to your learning pace and how much you feel comfortable covering at once.

Development Site Link
Something to keep in mind is that the site is not quite completed yet, with the largest thing being mobile responsiveness. That said, it is best to look at the development site on a desktop computer, rather than a laptop or smaller screen. Mobile development/responsiveness is something that the developer completes after the training so that he can update any changes along with the original development!

Other than that, if you see anything that alarms you (design or functionality), please let me know and we can address your concerns.

Please let me know what dates and times work best for the training or if you have any other questions,

Good Afternoon Fr. Barr,

I sent you a previous email with the Development Link for the site and to schedule a training time sometime soon. I know with the current situation with the recent outbreak things have been difficult and a little chaotic, but we can still do the trainings if you would like to keep this process moving.

This basecamp thing makes things difficult for me. Just sent this message to the one who is helping me. I hope she has some time somewhat soon avalable. Hopefully everything is going ok with you.
My staff does not want their pictures on the web site, but mine and Fr Ospina's should be fine, but not necessary. I just took some pics of myself on my phone, for some reason I cannot access the one on my computer. I will send them in a separate email.

Hello Fr. Barr,

Thank you for sending those images!

I will make a note to discuss with the developer and the designer how best to display staff without images.

Please let me know when you would like to set up the first training on the website!

Let me know if that works!

If she is going to have admin ability, then having her in the first meeting would be the best. I didn't have her email, but I can add her to the Basecamp project, so she will be included in all future correspondence.

Alternatively, you can forward her the email with the training information.

Just let me know what you would like to do and we'll proceed from there.

Thanks, Cody -
I depend on the Launch calendar to know the plan for when things are launching and I check that a couple of times a month.

I like to try the transfers 1-2 weeks before launch at most because of the number of times making the move too early has negatively affected the church's email, etc.

Which link are you referring to? The login page is this one: https://stjosephstmary.diocesanweb.org/wp-login.php?itsec-hb-token=freeport

Or was it the recording from the second training, in which case, it is this one: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1sIMjQuKa055b4_74Fl2Hn-wSJqnWgHU2?usp=sharing

I could use both, thanks. Also, recorded the introduction video, I have a guy working on the green screen effect. Did come up with a couple questions:
1) do we have the ability to stream live? Info on that?
2) accessibility of archives for visitors. Homilies, mass.
3) needed that video to go over RCIA form started.
TO THE CLIENT Cody Armock, Web Content Specialist at Diocesan
Hello Fr. Barr,

Awesome news about the video, just send it over when you are finished with it.

1. To live stream, you would need to use another service for that, e.g. Facebook or YouTube, but you can link to it from your website, definitely.

2. In the menus, there is a category type on the right side under Pages and Posts, you can add one of those Post categories to the menu and name it how you want. You can then use that category to link to Posts that contain the links or YouTube embeds to your videos. Using YouTube(videos), Facebook(videos), Soundcloud(audio) for your media/homilies will save considerable space on your site. I would just name the post something like Mass - May 18, 2020 and then have the YouTube embed or Facebook video showing up. You can pull the embed code from Facebook too.

3. Can you please clarify this question please? I am not sure what this is asking.

hate to keep asking questions: on making the forms. I got it pretty good, but at the bottom woith all the marriage stuff, for each previous marriage they need to answer the basic questions. So if they have had 5 other previous, they need to list the names, dates places for each marriage. So how do i duplicate that with all the connections that those series of questions have? i hope you understand what i am asking.
TO THE CLIENT Cody Armock, Web Content Specialist at Diocesan
Hello Fr. Barr,

I think the easiest would be separating them into sections, so Marriage 1, Marriage 2, etc. with duplicates of the associated fields and then you can have either a number field asking number of previous marriages before the sections or you can have a radio at the end of each asking if they need to input another and then yes or no and doing conditional logic on the section that way. I recommend the number field method and then on each of the Section fields, doing conditional logic where you show the section if the number of marriage is great than one less than the section, while always showing the first if they are married.

I hope that makes sense.

Also, you may want to look into using the admin field labels in the advanced tab. They can be a big help and keep you sane instead of seeing 20 fields with the same name. Basically, admin field labels will only be visible to people editing or exporting the form, but the user/visitor won't see it.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

Cody, Looks like everything is going good on the video, It is rudimentary for now as Frank gets used to the program for the green screen. We will make something more elaborate later. COVID s constantly changing anyways.
Also, the RCIA form is almost done. There is one spot though at the "Marital Status" section. I wanted to have the question be made visible that says "Name of person you are interested in Marrying" when they choose yes to "Do you have plans of getting married?" But the pull down does not come up with that field. in the logic. Not sure what happened there.

Hello Father,

It looks like the field was renamed in the Admin Field Label and so I found it under that name for the conditional logic. If you want you can go ahead and switch them around, as I would imagine that Admin Field Label is a little misleading, but that was the issue. (See screenshots below)

got another thing to add. I noticed that there was no explanation for the examination of conscience. Here is a brief paragraph to lead into the link.

Examination of conscience

First, we start with what we call an examination of conscience. This is where we discern our relationship with Jesus. Have we done something that has offended Him? We typically use the Ten Commandments for this. This is the foundation which we start with. There may be other criteria, like forgiveness, gossip, anger or greed. There are many different reflections to help us through this process each time we go to confession. It is suggested to go once a month. Here is an examination of Conscience you can use.
Also with the COVID and events being limited to ten people, i was giong to make a form for people to sign up on. But this will be ongoing and be repeated many times. Can we keep a template?
FROM THE CLIENT Fr. Timothy Barr, Joseph and Mary Freeport Staff
I hope you can do this for me. I make a quick card under the Annointing. There is the word (link). put this card that people can print up for themselve. Surprised i could not find one online. Will start working on another form tonight.
TO THE CLIENT Cody Armock, Web Content Specialist at Diocesan
Hello Fr.,

I have added the necessary things onto the Sacraments pages for Anointing and Confession, this can be done by editing the accordion on that page for the appropriate sacrament.

As for the form, you can limit the number of entries to ten total entries and then you once you have that form, you can then duplicate it for each day of the week and then once the mass is done, you can then export the entries to a CSV file if you want, and then delete the entries to be used again for next week.

Got it, Don't know why i did not see it before. Weird. But i have been trying to get these linked to the respective pages.
TO THE CLIENT Cody Armock, Web Content Specialist at Diocesan
Hello Fr. Barr,

I am glad that you were able to figure the consent field out.

For the Wedding Policies, you can go to the Sacraments page and then open the Accordion for "Marriage" then you can go to wherever you want to add the PDF link in the text with your cursor, and then click Add Media button above and add your PDFs there, one at a time works best. You will need to add media once for St. Joseph's and once for St. Mary's. Then you can adjust the text of the link and I would recommend clicking the "Edit Pencil" and then the link settings (the Cog) and click Open in New Tab.

Let me know if you have any questions!
