Content Strategy

Good morning Laura,

I hope you have been doing well since you last spoke with Danae.

My name is Cody Armock and my role here in Diocesan's web department is as a content specialist. This means, that in addition to going over what areas of your current website are staying or going, I also help you find the most effective way to layout your website. I will be helping you in this process from now until the training before the launch of the site.

This not only helps us build you a website that is easier to edit and manage but also allows anyone visiting your website to accurately and consistently find the information for which they are looking.

Below is a link to a live Google document of your current sitemap that you are able to edit directly. Please go through this sitemap and make the appropriate edits to display what pages you'd like Diocesan to migrate, as well as removing the items that you do NOT want Diocesan to move.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gogY1IBYMhk0dg1BMShFOUgF-wGBRqA8ZJ3rRCD4f8M/edit

Once you have completed editing the pages you'd like Diocesan to migrate, please let me know and we will begin making a suggested sitemap for the new site based on your current sitemap. The suggested sitemap is created to optimize the flow and look of your site. We will then send you the suggested sitemap to edit and change as needed and when finished, approve it.

Thank you for choosing Diocesan and we are very excited to work with you on creating a new website for you and the people at St. Joseph.

Let me know if you have any questions,

Hi Cody,
I am sorry it has taken me so long to return your message.
Liz has been working on the site map, but we have many hidden pages that extend to many levels. Liz is working on a complete spreadsheet and may have more questions than what I include in this email.
Today we spoke with Danae and she added Liz to the contact list, please include Liz Neil on any future emails - thank you!
Questions:

* Once a file/document is uploaded on to the website, are we able to delete those files?
* Do you need the links we have on pages?
* Is there a way to hide content not currently being used? Currently many pages are hidden so the content is saved and can be re-published as needed. You may have another solution for this process.

Once Liz is done with the updated sitemap, do we send that back to you or is there a phone call involved?

Thanks,
Laura

Good Morning Laura and Liz,

When a file/document is uploaded to the website, you can delete it later if you want. I will show you how to do that in the training on the Website when we get to that point.

If the pages are available to the public, I can grab those links from the site. If they are on a hidden page, I will probably need the login to the site to grab that content to move it over, unless you would want to do that and bring the links over.

There are a few ways to hide content not currently being used. We could save it as a draft so that it is not public or we could make it private so that only those that are logged in can see the page. I think with your terminology of "re-published", switching it or saving it to a draft might be the best way.

Once you are done with the sitemap, you can just send it back to us and we will make a suggested sitemap out of it, including the design of the pages, if needed, so that you can get a visual of it, as well as, to help us when we are making the page know what it should look like too.

Let me know if you have any other questions,

Good morning Laura and Liz,

I just wanted to check in and see if you had completed the sitemap/spreadsheet with all of your hidden pages. If so, please send it our way.
If not, no worries! Just let us know that you're still working on it and we'll follow up with you in a few weeks.

Thank you,

Cody,
I'm sorry, I've been swamped for the past six weeks and while this never fell off my radar, it certainly kept falling to the bottom of the To Do list.

On my original draft of this in January I was adding internal/external links that were on each page, and comments on the hidden pages that indicated where they were linked from. Do you want that level of detail, or just the outline of pages?

Apologies again on the delay -- hope to get this to you by the end of the week.
TO THE CLIENT Cody Armock, Web Content Specialist at Diocesan
Good Morning Liz,

That is fine for the delay, no worries! Normally, the outline is just fine, but with so many pages and content, it might be good to at least comment on the hidden pages where they are linked from, you don't necessarily need to add internal/external links on each page as we will find those when migrating the content.

Thank you,

Cody Armock

Hi Cody --
Attached please find the structure of our current website. The seven tabs on the Home page are under the MAIN heading; drop-downs from each tab are the Sub i, drop-downs from Sub i are in the Sub ii column, and so on.

Listed under the comments are the links to and links from that page, fairly all encompassing but not entirely.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Have a good weekend --
