Domain Transfer Information

Good morning, Jane -
I was able to log in to GoDaddy with no issues, which is wonderful - thank you!  Your main domains are set to auto-renew 6/29/19 so the timing is perfect.

You currently have 6 domains in the account.

stjosephathens.com
saintjosephathens.com

stjosephathens.org
saintjosephathens.org

stjoesathens.com
stjoesathens.org

I wanted to verify what we'll be transferring -  just the two "stjoseph..." domains, or will I be transferring all six?  The cost of $15/domain would be billed to St. Joseph annually, and that is the domain cost only, similar to what was paid to GoDaddy - there's no fee involved with a transfer, and the renewal date will extend another year.

If you decide to keep them all, we'll have them all forward to the main site URL, https://stjosephathens.org/, at launch, just as you have now.

If you do not want to continue with the extra domains, we can turn off the auto-renew and we can let them expire, or I can transfer all six now and you can decide whether to continue with them at a later date.  Let me know how you'd like to proceed. Thank you!

Jane said YES and added:
Hi Mary,
We have decided to have Diocesan handle all domains.
The current .org and .com will be active; redirecting to each other.

All other domains will dormant, as they are purchased primarily so that others will not use. They just need to be renewed annually:
saintjosephathens.com
saintjosephathens.org
stjoesathens.com
stjoesathens.org

Question:
Our parish emails are listed as .com
Do you think we should go ahead and make .com the main site and have .org redirect so that our emails and site match, like our school (.org used on their emails and site)
For the church, it is easier to change web address than to change our emails, but didn't know if the domain suffix mattered anymore.

What do you think?

Jane,
The transfer code emails are automatically sent to the email on record at GoDaddy, and it looks like it's frdavid.mcguinness@yahoo.com.

Would he be able to forward those emails (there will be 6 separate emails) to us at webdepartment@diocesan.com?  Should I contact him directly, or could you let him know we'll need to see the emails to finish the transfer process?

Also, it would be easy to redirect either of the main addresses to the other - either .com to .org, or .org to .com.  So really, you wouldn't have to decide on this for a while yet, if you want to give it some more thought.   Since you have both domains available we can set the website to redirect either way.  I think something to consider is whether the web address & email addresses are printed or published in multiple places - will there be a cost involved in changing things like business cards, possibly?  That may be a topic we could discuss further with Veronica.

Thank you,
Mary

Mary,
Emails have been forwarded to you!
TO THE CLIENT Mary Goeldel, Diocesan
Good morning, Jane -
I received the emails saying the four main accounts were unlocked, which is good - I also need the emails with the auth/EPP code.  They are being sent to the email:  frdavid.mcguinness@yahoo.com

Do you know if Father reads his Yahoo account email regularly?  If not, could you let him know there should be four emails from GoDaddy with the EPP codes in that account?  Those are the emails that we need to get the four main domains transferred.

The last two domains are registered under the email odmaster@stjosephathens.com and my emails to that address are bouncing back.  Is that email no longer in use at St. Joseph?  Unfortunately, the EPP codes will go to that address and I can't change that address until an email sent to it is received and a link approving the change is clicked on...so we are stuck in a loop on that one!  I may need to check with GoDaddy to see if there is a way around that issue, so I'll keep you posted on what I find.

Those domains don't expire until October so they are less urgent than the first four domains.  If you could speak with Father McGuinness and ask him to forward those emails, it would be much appreciated!

Thank you,

Hello, all -
Update - Ellyn to the rescue!  She managed to change the email addresses on the account away from Father David (I was unable to do it myself) and she successfully received the EPP codes!  I just initiated the transfers of the four main domains.

I'll keep an eye on them to make sure the transfers go thru successfully, and we'll continue to work on transferring those last two, stjoesathens.org and stjoesathens.com.

Many thanks to Ellyn!

Mary,
Fr David is no longer on staff here, but Ellyn still has access to his account so she was able to send.
I notified her about the other two domains this morning so hopefully she can figure out that one.

Mary,
I am out of town and using my personal email. Both our website and email servers are down. I feel Iike this is due to the switch to Diocesan from Go Daddy. Can you please look into this ASAP and follow up with me on a resolution. I believe one of the domains was up for renewal the end of the month and Diocesan probably just missed it by a day. I notified Cody too as we were still working on final design elements and i had his email handy.

Jane,
We have two domains left to transfer - the last two "dormant" domains.  They are registered under the email address "odmaster@stjosephathens.com."

stjoeathens.com
stjoeathens.org

Do you know who that email address belongs to, and are they still able to access it?  If it's no longer in use, is it possible to create the account so that I can send the transfer codes to it?

I know there's less of a rush to get these two transferred - I just don't want to let them slip through the cracks!

Thank you,

Mary

Hello, Jane -
I just wanted to follow up with you on my last email to you.  Is there any way that we can access the email account "odmaster@stjosephathens.com" in order to obtain transfer codes for the last two unused domains for St. Joseph:

stjoeathens.com
stjoeathens.org

They are registered under that email address.  If we can access that email address (even if we have to create it again, if it's been discontinued) we'd be able to get the transfer codes I need for those last two domains.

Thank you,

Mary
