John Paul II Mission - Gainesville, GA

Development Link & Training

Good afternoon Adriana,

We have reached the point in the development process in which we share the link to the development site with you. First, I wanted to go over the missing content from the website and then get into the training and development site.

Things We Need From You
We do still need some information from you, if possible. Otherwise, we can simply remove these items from the main menu and website.
  • Calendar - are you/will you be using Google Calendar?

Training
The first training session typically takes ~2 hours and is done remotely via Diocesan's version of TeamViewer. At the beginning of our phone call, I will walk you through how to set up the remote access program.

During the training sessions, we go over:
  • How to edit the homepage content
  • How to edit the footer
  • How to edit the menu
  • How to create/edit inner pages
  • How to create/edit posts
  • How to create/edit/use image galleries
  • How to create/edit/use online forms
  • Any other questions that you may have
Since this can be a lot, we break the training down into two sessions:
  1. Editing the site basics  (pages, posts, menu, homepage)
  2. Editing the additional site features & answering follow-up questions (forms, galleries, etc.)
This is completely up to your learning pace and how much you feel comfortable covering at once.

Development Site Link
Something to keep in mind is that the site is not quite completed yet, with the largest thing being mobile responsiveness. That said, it is best to look at the development site on a desktop computer, rather than a laptop or smaller screen. Mobile development/responsiveness is something that the developer completes after the training so that he can update any changes along with the original development!
There are some other big items that we are still working on, such as:
  • Staff Page Default Images
Other than that, if you see anything that alarms you (design or functionality), please let me know and we can address your concerns.

Please let me know what dates and times work best for the training or if you have any other questions,

Hi Cody,
how are you?

We have decided not to use the Google Calendar.

Regarding Training: I will be out of the office 12-12 and 12-13.
The only days I work next week are: Monday the 16th (should be available around 3pm) and Friday the 20th (will be available from 10am to 12noon).
Do any of these times work for you?

Thanks,
Adriana

Hello Adriana,

I am doing well. How are you?

I will make a note that there will not a calendar.

I am available next Friday, the 20th, from 10-noon, so that will work perfectly.
I will send you the meeting information later, once you confirm that Friday will work.

Thank you,

Cody Armock

Hello Adriana,

I wanted to check in to see if you have gotten the chance to log in and edit the site. I also wanted to check in to see if you wanted to schedule the second training session where we will cover Envira Gallery and Forms.

I am pretty open next week for availability, but just let me know and we can figure out a time that will work for both of us.

Looking forward to hearing from you and as always let me know if you have any questions editing the site!

Hi Cody,
Thanks for the training.
FYI:
After the meeting, Ceci pointed out at me that Discover Mass does display the latest bulletin Edition... her concern is on the webpage: the last edition shown is an Oct. bulletin.
Thanks,
Adriana

Hello Adriana,

I have fixed the issue causing the bulletin to not update. Please check the website again and it should be the most up-to-date one.

Hi Cody,
Ceci is working on the webpage and is telling me the Bulletin is up to date, however, the information is for "Mary Mother of the Church". ?? could you please look into that?

Thanks,
Adriana
TO THE CLIENT Cody Armock, Web Content Specialist at Diocesan
Hello Adriana,

We have fixed the issue pulling the wrong bulletins. It was a bigger issue than we thought and we are working on getting the bulletin image to display. Right now, the links will work and go to the correct updated bulletin for your parish, so at least those will be up-to-date. Sorry for the hassle with it, but it should work going forward.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hello Adriana,

Did you have an update about when you wanted to launch the site? Please give us at least 2 weeks notice before launching the site! That way we can make sure that everything is working and looking as it is supposed to.

Did you also settle on a font for the Hero Image on the Homepage? I know that you and Ceci were going to look through the Google Fonts to see if you could find one that didn't make the "II" in 'St. John Paul II' look like "J's". Let me know if you have found one and I can have the developer make the change.

Thank you,

Cody Armock

Thanks Cody,
FYI: looking at NEWS: the information displayed is not for St John Paul II... could you please take a look?

Thanks,
Adriana

Hello Adriana,

I will take a look at that and update the myParish App plugin to the correct information.

Thank you,
Also, we have agreed on font: Bilbo Swash Caps for the name of the Mission... the roman numeral looks better. Please take a look at it and let me know what you think.

Thank you,
Have a blessed one,
Adriana

Hello Adriana,

I think that will work. We will test it and make sure that it is a similar size and that it will be legible.

HI, we are thinking we will launch it the weekend of the 22nd of Feb.
How did the Bilbo Swash Caps turn out?
TO THE CLIENT Cody Armock, Web Content Specialist at Diocesan
Hello Adriana,

Unfortunately, we are not in the office on the weekends and like to give ourselves one additional day in the office following the launch in case something goes awry. So would Thursday, February 20th work for you for launching the site? That way if anything does occur, we can fix it before that weekend and it will be launched and possibly announced at the Masses on the 22nd and 23rd.

The developer has not changed the font to Bilbo Swash Caps yet, but I suspect he will be getting to that either Thursday or Friday this week. When the change does occur, you should notice it on the Homepage relatively quickly!

Let me know if this works!

Thank you,

Cody Armock

Hi Cody,
Yes, Feb. 20th is good.
Thank you,
Adriana
TO THE CLIENT Cody Armock, Web Content Specialist at Diocesan
Hello Adriana,

I will set that on our calendar for Feb. 20th. We will be launching the site between 9am-1pm EST on that day, so please refrain from making any site edits then because they may not save.

Thank you,

Cody Armock
