Confirming Launch Date

Good afternoon Everyone,


I wanted to just confirm that we are all set on your end to launch the site next Monday, February 17th. Please let me know either way, whether you are or are not ready to launch the site. This way we can make sure that everything is set for launch. 

Also, just a reminder that we would be launching the site between 9am and 1pm and will send you an email letting you know that it has officially launched. Please refrain from editing the site between 9am and 1pm, so as not to lose your changes and edits!

Hi Cody,

So I had sent Veronica a video that I had asked if it could be incorporated at the top when you get to the homepage at St. John Paul II. I don't see that in there yet.

I also have a parishioner who would like to do a video of the inside of the church then take the video from the outside (that I sent Veronica) and put them together. I have included him on the email because he had a few questions about what is needed in order to get it on the website.

Following the email from Katie, I was wondering about the video requirements for the website. Namely:
-length of video recommend?
- filetype of video recommend?
-dimensions/resolution recommended?

Hello Katie and Jeff,

I have added the current video to the website on St. John Paul II's Homepage. You can view that now if you would like. Katie, you may need to forward this to Jeff, as I am not sure that Basecamp will send it to him.

As for the requirements for the website,
  • Length of video - Less than 50 seconds long is best. Somewhere between 20-45 seconds. The current video on there is 43 seconds.
  • Filetype of Video recommended is webm, mp4, or ogg. webm and mp4 are best.
  • Dimensions/resolution recommended would be 1920x1080 if possible, that way it covers Desktop down to mobile, it can shrink.
I hope that helps clarify those issues!

With those questions answered, are we ready to launch next Monday, February 17th?

As for the video recommendations:
  • Length is typically under 30 seconds (helps with file size & website best practices)
  • File size should be under 15mb, under 10mb is best (but we can compress the file for you if needed)
  • Compress the video file (allows for longer video & helps with file size)
  • Filetypes accepted are mp4, avi, webm (recommended is mp4)
  • Resolution recommended is 1080p (helps with file size)
  • Remove any audio from the video (helps with file size)

I am okay with the launch on Monday. I have a question though. I like the video on the homepage of SJP2. However, the red box blocks half of the shots. Is there any way we could move this down a bit or make the box a little smaller?

I will update our schedules to reflect the confirmation for the Monday Launch. 

As for your question about the red box, I have put it to the developer and designer to figure out the best solution for it and to see what will work the best, but rest assured that it will be done before the launch.
