If you edit your homepage, you now have three columns all 1/3, with the second and third box both editable!

Patty,

I was talking to the developer about breaking the Mission Statement section down into two sections and had some questions before we could give you an accurate quote.

Is this what you are thinking of?

Do you want 1 editable title, centered over the two text boxes, or 2 editable titles, centered over each text box?
2 editable text boxes, broken up 1/2 + 1/2, correct?
1 or 2 buttons? 1 (centered below the middle of the section) or 2 (centered under each text box)?

Ah, okay.

I know you have it in two columns so that you can display English and Spanish, but your website does already have the ability to go back and forth between English and Spanish.

Hello, Veronica. We have decided we want the bulletin and the two new free form boxes to support 1) the bulletins, 2) the calendar, and 3) events and news. Can you tell me if it is possible (and how) to put the calendar that displays on this page, https://saintjn.diocesanweb.org/about/calendar/, in the 2nd box, without having to click through to the calendar like with the current calendar “button”?
So the 2nd bulletin box would look like this:

We also want to know how to link URL to text in the message section of the 3rd box so it operates more like the events widget on our current home page. We don’t need it that fancy, we would change the event and link the URL as appropriate if we knew how.

I also noticed the Second and Third Box have a slightly different structures. One has an option for an Icon and a link and the other has a hard title of “More Information” and an option for a link. Is there a benefit to having them both work the same knowing how we want to use them?

Hi Patty,

I have added the calendar into the homepage box by pasting in your iFrame. The only issue that may arise is that an iFrame is not mobile responsive, which is why there is a scroll bar within the Calendar box. Other than that, the width seems to be mobile responsive, so that's good!

As for where/how to change the URL in the third box, you were on the right track. The thing to note here is that the second and third boxes are not visual editors, but TEXT editors. This means that instead of copying the image of the calendar from the Calendar page, I copied the HTML text (see images below).

So in order to link to specific posts, you may want to create a draft page in which you create the links, switch to Text editor, copy the code, then use that in the third homepage box.

Once you have this code, it's easy enough to see where the post link would go and where the link text goes. Then, you can simply copy this code layout to use in the future.

Well, darn. I thought maybe we had figured it out. If you do want a link in the footer, I suggest adding a link that goes to a page on your website. On that page, give a brief explanation of what the ROOTED Service Project is, where the money goes, and then add the iFrame/embedded PayPal link below it.

Also, as a side note, the developer will be working on your website today, so if you see something that looks funny, please be sure to do a hard refresh (hold down control and click F5).
