Development Link & Training
Hello Patty & Mary,
I am waiting for the developer to make a few major tweaks before sending you the link to the development site, but I did want to see if you had any dates in mind for your training.
Either Mary or I will be available to train you on whatever day works best for you. The training is typically ~2 hours long and is done by accessing your computer remotely and going through how to edit each part of the website.
We are available to begin the training between the hours of 9:00 am - 2:00 pm.
Let me know what works best for you and I look forward to sending you the development site link!

Hi, Veronica. Thank you for reaching out regarding training. Since it sounds like it can be conducted within the next day or two, I will poll the people who I want included in the training to see what day and time next week works best for them.
We have a few new people since we started the rewrite process last summer and have lost a key person whose family relocated to Sacramento last week. Can I also schedule basic WordPress training for them at Diocesan’s published rate of $50/hour? I imagine we would be interested in a 2-3 hour session for them and it would follow the initial training next week.

Good morning Patty,
With your website, you get two full training sessions. If it is better for you to do the initial training next week, then I say we wait until then. That way, we can do the initial training with everyone, then have the second training for everyone's follow-up questions.
I just scheduled some things for tomorrow so I will be busy, but Friday or any day after that should work.
It is only once you have used your two full training sessions, then you would need to schedule a training at $50/hr.
Thank you,
Veronica Alvarado

Hi, Veronica. Most of the others are out sick and I am eager to get started so two of us would like to be trained at 9:30am on Friday if you are still available. We will identify a date for the second session when the others are back in the office next week.

I come bearing the gift of your site so far! Below is a link to the live development site:

Thank you, Veronica. I look forward to checking out the site and talking with you on Friday morning at 9:30. I assume you know we are in VA and that time zone?
Just an FYI, you can remove Mary Hastings from the disto as she is the key person I mentioned in an earlier email who relocated to Sacramento. ☹

I double checked and verified that you are Eastern, same as us here in Michigan! So we will be good to go for that.
I will remove Mary, but is there anyone else you'd like added to your Basecamp Project?

I would like to know the recommended size/proportions for sliders in our new environment. We previously used 960x350, which is coincidently one of the format sizes in Canva, but it is too large for the new slider box. I found this by taking one of our current sliders and uploading it into the new slider.
I have asked two members of our project team for the recommended length of time between slides and will provide that information when received.
Patty Bartnick, Catherine and I meet tomorrow morning (1/25) to compare notes. I will send a recap of what we would like changed.

Good morning, Patty -
It was nice to hear from you this morning!
The developer is going to work on making the Mass Times box a WYSIWYG editor box like the pages have - that way we can make it look exactly as you'd like with font sizes, header text, divider lines, etc. I'll let you know as soon as he has that ready to go.
He's also currently working on mobile responsiveness so you may see things change slightly on the homepage while he works on that. As soon as he says he's got that completed I'll figure out the slider size information for you and send that your way. Feel free to send us any comments/questions as you note things that may need attention and we'll work on them. Thank you,
Mary

Thank you for the update, Mary. Catherine, Patty B and I just finished our meeting and we will focus on giving you what we believe Diocesan controls and we’ll make updates for what we have learned we can control.
We want the two Faith Formation members to begin looking and updating, Angela Davis and Maggie O’Donnell. Have you sent them the invite to log in yet and if not, can you do this by early next week?
Spanish Translate button: we assume this will appear at some point as it was discussed in the past.
Mission Statement: we would like this to be two columns so we can put the English on the left and the Spanish on the right, like on our bulletin cover.
[cid:image002.jpg@01D4B4A3.8B8CB3B0]
Bulletin/Stay Connected/New to Parish: On Wednesday we talked about having this be converted to three equal size boxes, 1/3 for bulletins, 1/3 for the calendar, and 1/3for is a post. Do you have an approximate time for this change to be made?
[cid:image004.jpg@01D4B4A3.8B8CB3B0]
Footer Area: the icon/SJNCC section seems small compared to the address and phone number. We also want to be able to have additional information like the fax and email down here. How is this added and does text have to be double spaced as that seems to take up a lot of real estate.
[cid:image008.jpg@01D4B4A3.8B8CB3B0]
Page Header Box: we are fine with the text being white. What we want to know is whether we are able to control the picture in the box and where to go to add a new picture. We would also like to understand the proportions of the photo as we would like to make the default picture the stained glass in our church.
[cid:image012.jpg@01D4B4A3.8B8CB3B0]
About/Clergy and Staff: we previously talked about the “email me” button and not having the email address clickable; we assume the email addresses will be removed. We also noticed some pictures above people; we do not plan to have pictures at this point.
I think that is it for the moment. Thanks for all of your help to date.

Updates:
The translation was installed - we activated it and the developer will style the drop-down for it shortly. Also, he added the editor box for the Mass Times and will work to style the font sizing next - the fonts currently display very large but not to worry, he'll adjust that.
I'll create the two additional user accounts now and send them each login information.
Thank you!

Hi, Mary. I am wondering when the bottom on the home page will have calendar as the left third and the other two thirds to the right are changed per our discussion.
I also noticed the Mass and Office times is now free form but it is not clear what controls the lines that appear. I looked at the html view and it was not obvious to me. I also wasn’t sure what impacts the size that Office Hours is larger (or appears to be larger) than Mass Times and Reconciliation.

Hi, Patty -
I'm out of the office today and tomorrow but I'll try to answer the questions without accessing the site. The lines in the Mass times box will appear based on the size of the Header text used. If you choose a different size (H1, H2, H3, etc.) it will alter both the size of the text and whether or not there is a line under the text. The office hours text can be made smaller by choosing a different text size. The developer completed the task of resizing the text and then typically I'd go back and match it to the proofs but I didn't have the opportunity to do so before I was scheduled out of the office. I can review it on Monday.
You can also insert a line using the line button within the Visual Editor box - it's the first or second button on the 2nd line of buttons within the visual editor. I can go over that with you on Monday, if you'd like.
As for the other changes, I did need to run some of that by Veronica as it was a change from the proofs - unfortunately, with the weather we've had for the past week in Michigan, we did not get to cross paths at all, so we've been communicating through messages and so there are tasks in the queue that haven't yet been completed. I should be able to let you know Monday how long those changes will take - thanks for your patience, we certainly weren't expecting the weather-related travel issues we've had all week - it's been extreme even for our part of the country!
Thank you,
Mary

Thanks for your quick reply, Mary. I actually don’t want the lines and was trying to figure out how to remove. The three titles all appeared to be of the same size, except for the first title, which appeared the same size as the second title! I would like to touch base on Monday if that fits in your schedule. I am usually tied up with our “money counters” from 7-10:30 and then have to leave at 11 on Monday. Would 10:30 work for you?

Patty,
I apologize for not responding to your question about the lines under the header text - I was out of town for a few days and have been playing "catch up" all week! We can certainly schedule a call - I will check with Veronica to see how her schedule looks - are there days/times that work for you?
