Development Link & Training

Good afternoon Everyone,


We have reached the point in development at which we share a link to the development site with you.

Training Sessions
The first training session typically takes ~2 hours and is done remotely via a screen share program. We will send over the meeting link and phone number in a later email. 

During the training sessions, we go over:
  • How to edit the homepage content
  • How to edit the footer
  • How to edit the menu
  • How to create/edit inner pages
  • How to create/edit posts
  • How to create/edit image galleries
  • How to create/edit online forms
Since this can be a lot, we break the training down into two sessions:

Session 1: Editing the site basics
Session 2: Editing the additional site features & answering follow-up questions

This is completely up to your learning pace and how much you feel comfortable covering at once. 

Development Site Link
Something to keep in mind is that the site is not quite completed yet, with the largest thing being mobile responsiveness. That said, it is best to look at the development site on a desktop computer, rather than a laptop or smaller screen. Mobile development/responsiveness is something that the developer completes after the training so that he can update any changes along with the original development!

Other than that, if you see anything that alarms you (design or functionality), please let me know and we can address your concerns.

Good afternoon,

It was brought to my attention by Ryan Ross that there might be some interest in having Diocesan host your website. If you decide to have us host, that will allow us to give you support post-launch and it will make the launch process much more smooth. We also have the ability to make the editor side a little less cluttered and easier to edit.

If this in indeed what you want, please let us know before your training on Monday, as it will change what we cover in that first training. If you need more time than that, we can just postpone your training till you are ready to make the decision. If you would like to see our price, please let us know and we will get you a proposal with the amount for the year.

To follow up what Arthur sent, my recommendation would be postponing the training (even by a few days) if there is any feeling you guys might consider having Diocesan host your site. The training will be completely different if you host or if we do. 

As it is currently, when we launch you we will not be providing any support or assistance for your site after launch. Whereas, if we hosted your site we would be available with a team of staff to assist with any questions or assistance you might need for as long as we host your site. 

I will monitor my email over the weekend and can certainly arrange for a meeting to discuss the aspects of you hosting vs. us hosting on Monday instead of a training at the same already scheduled time if you'd prefer and then reschedule the training for a later date.

Is there any chance we can move our meeting to 230pm? I have a meeting in which I have been asked to give a brief presentation at that is conflicting with the training start time. Alternatively we could reschedule the training for another day this week, I have several openings.  Evening,

It would be 2:30pm Eastern time. If rescheduling is easier we can likely still make it work this week. I have lots of openings. Due to us not hosting there is more that I will cover in the training than I usually do for our other clients; so I also want to make sure we are able to cover everything we need to cover to set you up for success. As currently scheduled starting at 230pm EST  would put us at 430pm Eastern Time stop time. (which is outside normal hours we do trainings, but this scheduling conflict is a unique situation.) Because of the wide scope of things I need to train you all on, it would make me most comfortable if we rescheduled to make sure there is ample time to get everything covered.

 That said, if you'd prefer to meet at 230pm EST tomorrow I will need to be done by 430pm EST (due to an outside of work hours commitment) and we MAY need to schedule an additional follow up session to cover everything. 

It wasn't until Friday afternoon that the reality set in of the scope of what we will need to train you on is. (since we aren't hosting) I went in this evening and estimated the time needed to train you all and it likely exceeds the two hours set aside for a typical client training. With the potential 230pm EST start time I wanted to lay out all the options for you so you can make an informed decision. 

Alternatively here are a few alternate times this week:

Tuesday May 3: I am wide open from 9am until 2pm Eastern Time. 
Thursday May 5: I could do 12pm-2pm EST or 2pm-4pm EST (or a mix of those times)
Friday May 6: Wide open from 9am-2pm EST

I appreciate your understanding and apologize for this unusual request. Cody set your site up and he no longer works here. Late Friday afternoon I met with my team and discussed the plan for your training and the goal is to provide you (and all our clients) with the best possible training experience. 

This is even more important for you all because we aren't hosting or offering ongoing support. I realize it is Sunday evening and you may not be able to get input from your entire team and for that apologize but I appreciate your consideration of my request.
