Website Content
Hello Donna and Father Ben,
I am Veronica, the content specialist. What is a content specialist? A content specialist reviews your current/proposed content and organizes it in a way that is both easy for the parishioner/visitor, and you, our client. This means that my job is to make sure your content is as clear, accurate, and easy-to-find as possible, AND I work to make sure that the editing side of the website is easy for you to keep up with!
As Kyle has already mentioned, we have begun building your website. With this in mind, I wanted to go over several items before moving forward with content:
- Sitemap
Click here to see the current and proposed sitemap that I have created for you. Feel free to make edits and notes to the proposed sitemap, as needed. Since it is a Google Document, I will be able to see your edits, so you can just let me know once - Content Migration
When is a good time for me to begin moving your content?
If you are still making changes, please let me know. This way, I am not copying over pages multiple times, thus costing you more.
Also, if you have any other content (images, content, etc.) for me, please simply email it to me as an attachment.
Thank you and let me know if you have any questions,

I see that you have looked at the sitemap. Does everything look good for now?
Simply let me know when you would like me to begin moving content.

Hello Veronica:
Yes, I have edited the site map to correspond with changes I’d like to see.
Allow me to make the following updates to present website “content,” and then you can begin moving what we have. Overall, we will need to begin adding some new information and seriously updating out-of-date material, so what I present here is a start at eliminating some things on the current site that DO NOT need moved & can be eliminated.
CURRENT SITE CONTENT:
1. MINISTRIES
* MUSIC MINISTRY—migrate to new category WORSHIP
i. Eliminate all content here except “Lend Your Voices to the Lord!” section
* Eliminate “Elijah Cup”
* Migrate ALTAR SERVERS & LECTORS to new category WORSHIP
* Migrate MINISTRY TO THE SICK to new category OUTREACH
1. NEWS & EVENTS
* All “News” Archive: move only 2018 information
1. PASTOR’S MESSAGE
* Move current message but drop first sentence in current content
1. I will need to develop new content for the following categories we are adding:
* South Brevard Sharing Center & Daily Bread
* Genesis House & Birthright
* Adult Formation
1. We currently do not have audio files of my homilies on our present website, but I have been saving files to load into the new website. If/when you establish a place to hold these audio homily files within the new website, I will be glad to forward them to you for posting. Just let me know if/when we can do so, and how to best transmit these files to you. I currently have about 10-15, I believe.
I think this about covers my initial look at our present site and where we need to go. All the information on the current “splash page” can be migrated for now, even though some of it will be outdated by the time the new site is up and running.
We are sorely lacking in photographs to use on a new site, but I have been trying to create a new pool of photos from events over the past year. I do have some more current photos that we could add to a picture scroll, if we are using this on our new site.
I hope what I offer here makes sense; let me know what else you need from me at this juncture, or any clarifications you might need from me.
Looking forward to getting our new site up and running (and be trained!) as soon as possible.
Best wishes,
Fr. Ben

Thank you, Father Ben,
I will wait for you to tell me when you have gone through your current website's content to begin copying over the pages.
If you have the audio files already available, could you please send me one? We want to make sure they work and test how they will look.
As for the images, we typically use high resolution stock photos for the header images, so you will not have to worry about that. However, if you have images specifically from your parish, that's perfect! Keep them all in one place and once you are trained, you may begin uploading the images to wherever you need them.
If I have misunderstood what you said about when I should move content, just let me know!
Thank you and I'm excited too! I really think we can do great things for your website, and in turn, your parishioners and visitors.

Veronica:
As per the email(s) I sent you today, with my first indicating some content to change/move/not copy over, as well as the “new content” (second email) for three areas of the new site, you can begin moving the content at your earliest convenience.
I am attaching one of the homily audio files to this email for you to check out and see how best to place them in the new site. I hope it works! This homily, as all of them, are given a file name that indicates the occasion (e.g., 20th Sunday Ordinary Time) and date of the homily.
Keep me posted.
Best wishes for a good weekend,

Ahhh, okay. I understand now. Thank you for clarifying, haha. I will begin moving the new content and the current content that is good to go.
The homily audio file is an mp3, so it should work perfectly on the website. The only issue I forsee is the amount of space the audio files will take up. Typically, we tell parishes to get a SoundCloud account, but as long as you compress your mp3 files (I use this website: http://www.mp3smaller.com/), then it shouldn't be an issue.
For example, you sent me a 5.51 MB file and I was able to compress it into a 2.76 MB file for the website.
I will keep you in the look and look forward to our developers starting on your project.

My mistake. We have already started your website's development.
In fact, you should be hearing from Kyle Brown in the next week or so, as he will provide you with a link to his progress on your website.
Thank you and have a wonderful weekend,

Super…
Per the audio files…our present website people told us about the “Sound Cloud” option, but they never followed up with us on getting it set up on the website. I believe I have their initial instructions on how to set up an account and transfer my current files there. I will attempt to do that in the coming days, and then let you know how it works. If I can figure it out, we can go that easier route for eventually transmitting what I have to the new site.
And I will look to hear from Kyle as his work progresses.
Good weekend, too!

Yes, once you have your account set up, you can simply link us to your profile and we can embed the player onto the website, so it will automatically update every time you upload a new homily.
Either way, we will figure it all out!

Hi Veronica:
Just checking in to see if we are getting any closer to the finished product and the launch of our new website?
Also, can you arrange for sending me hi-res digital files of our new parish logo that was part of this re-design process. We’d like to begin using it in promotional material for the parish. I do have one file, but it is not easily manipulated for size, etc.
Thanks,

Hello Father Ben,
I believe we have gotten to a good point so that we can show you our progress so far. I had our developer make some changes yesterday evening so that it would be ready for you to see today.
Below is the link to your development site. Please keep in mind that there are still several things that we are working on, primarily the homepage calendar and mobile responsiveness.
https://icparishmb.diocesanweb.com
I have also attached the PNG and JPG file of your logo. This should be exactly what you need for any web or print designs, but simply let us know if there is anything else.
Once you've taken a look over the website, let me know and we can set up a training date.

I just completed a walk through/see through of the demo website…and I LIKE what I see. Looks to be we are near ready to go forward with training. Obviously, once we have access to work with it, we can begin loading more information and features onto the sight, developing content on our end.
Only small thing I noticed on the home page…it is not our church that is in the Goggle map inset! Our map, however, does appear on the “Contact Us” page. A slight, but important needed adjustment!
Let me know next steps at your convenience.

Father,
I have made a note of that for our developer, Kyle, to get done when he can.
Our training typically takes 2 hours and is done over the phone while viewing your screen. At this time, we will go over how to edit the website and set up a launch date for you to present your beautiful new website to the world!
Let me know what day of the week and time works best for you and anyone else that will be trained.

Just a heads up…Next week, I will be out of the office Monday-Wednesday, so definitely will not be until after that.
