Hi Sam,

I am sorry to be in touch so late today. I had plans to touch base sooner after the meeting with the team, and the day just didn't go that way!

If it would be easier for us to touch base in the morning, we can talk on the phone.

I am going to start at the top of the page, and move down.

1. We discussed changing out the heading font to be more of a sans serif font.

2. Top Contact info (3 pieces) - Can these move to be right justified? Same area just over to right?

3. More of a QUESTION - Videos, like for the Welcome, below mission statements.

Are the aspect ratios adjustable? Just to make sure we have a clean look, without the

bars on top and bottom. Also can this be embedded to the page? v. YouTube, etc?

4. We would prefer for the icons not to be boxed, but set up more like the image below, and probably more like a one color, on a solid color bar that spans the width of the page.

Not certain we will want as much copy/description.

[cid:d00d5867-dbb2-4c58-9f24-1d9924e79589]

5. The Map/Directions area we would like something similar to this with a map and our address.. we can then have this link to google maps for easy directions to us.

[cid:3bb704c2-e7ef-4c4b-9be4-01951717f9ba]

Thoughts on the APP???

MyParish APP

We realized we didn't have anywhere on the homepage that we were directing people to our MyParish APP. - The thought was to keep this a one of the scrolling images up top, with a link in the image for people to be directed to a page with info, etc. ??

thoughts? Maybe just for the first several months/year until it is more mainstream as well as by registration info. Then maybe moving to an icon below.

Thanks again for all the help.

Let me know if I missed something!

The team is planning to meet on Thurs, so we can discuss the next steps.

Let me know what all that is.. I think it was colors etc. Let me know if you need some images to make it look a bit like us.. I can try and get you some.

TO THE CLIENT Sam Lanning
Good Morning! Thanks for all these, were you also able to figure out a color scheme you would like for the site as well? I would love to start dropping in some images and color to the proofs!

I will make all the changes to the requested info and get a proof back to you asap.

For the myParish App we could always extend the proof and add a section that displays the app messages as well! that way new visitors or parishioners that haven't seen it can get a taste of whats posted. we could also run a n image in the top slider if you would like that!

I took your questions and responded to them to the best of my ability!

1. We discussed changing out the heading font to be more of a sans serif font.
 - I have updated the nav items to a sans serif font (Roboto)

2. Top Contact info (3 pieces) - Can these move to be right justified? Same area just over to right?
- Made the change!

3. More of a QUESTION - Videos, like for the Welcome, below mission statements.

Are the aspect ratios adjustable? Just to make sure we have a clean look, without the
- I would say maybe, but you'll want to stick with whatever aspect ratio for the video you have! whether it be 4:3 (common) or 16:9 (universal). We can make that container fit either of these.

bars on top and bottom. Also can this be embedded to the page? v. YouTube, etc?
 - YouTube embed works great! You'll also be able to use other services if they work better for you. Vimeo ect.

4. We would prefer for the icons not to be boxed, but set up more like the image below, and probably more like a one color, on a solid color bar that spans the width of the page.
 - The boxes were just there to represent an image "container" I was planning on doing a design similar to the one you suggested already! single color icons on a band of color that spans the entire page!

Not certain we will want as much copy/description.
 - Sounds good! I will implement less body copy into the proofs. (Still using filler)

5. The Map/Directions area we would like something similar to this with a map and our address.. we can then have this link to google maps for easy directions to us.
 - I will add a small section above the map to house the address and contact information, along with the a button to direct people toward the directions to the parish.

I hope this all makes sense!

Thanks,

Samuel Lanning
FROM THE CLIENT Amy Lesko, Ignatius Loyola Parish & School Staff
Hi Sam,

Thank you for all your help on this project!! It is looking great!!

1. The colors will be:

Church Main - pantone 293U, secondary - pantone 279U

School Main - pantone 293U, secondary - pantone 7406 C

I was thinking you put them where you think, and we can go from there. We will let you know if we would like to see any changes.

2 . Can the logo in top left needs to be larger ?? We need to decide what we will plan to do for this long term... I know it is a place holder at this time.

Some where having a difficult time with how small St. Ignatius was as it is our identity and so small.

3. Could we switch the two bars : Mission, and Icon Bar. Moving the Icon bar to the top and Mission to the below the Welcome.. I was thinking that this would allow all those easy access info to be visible at the initial view of opening out page.. Some pretty important info, mass times etc... Maybe this isn't . good.. but I think it would be good to see and go from there.

4. Headings Font… Could we look at different options.

Signika Negative, Overlock bold, or Merriweather for some headings ??

5. MyParish App center change to a general area title - Communications Center/Media center and try these as circle icons..

* Daily readings

* SM - Feed

* Myparish APP

* Live Stream of Mass

* Formed, USSCB, Word on Fire ???

6. Can the Live streaming of Mass pop up on homepage when is it live > ????

7. Do we need to loo at the Landing Page for both School and Church - ??

8. Could we see the Homepage for School - It is very similar to Church, with a few changes - could we see that ? School logo the Cross ( I sent in a doc, but can get you file if needed)

Heading changes, etc.

Thanks so much for all you are doing. I feel back constantly asking for changes, but want to make sure we get this right.

Give me a call if you get a chance. I wanted to ask you about timing, etc. thanks

Calendars - St.X high school's site - https://www.stxavier.org/ Scroll a bit and it is on the home page - An alternative way to show the calendar with scrolling side to side, as well as with parallax scrolling.

[cid:637ad850-f749-4fe9-bf6e-bbda1c69eb09]

We looked at this format last meeting - and it too could be another way to show the Calendar(scrolling) on the homepage. This needs some tweaking to be more readable, but general idea, and could offer the parallax scrolling image as well.

[cid:fe612e64-7b11-4ec0-912c-f815d4728c9f]

?As I was writing this email, I realized it may be good to see some of this, so I made a mock-up. It is not complete, and has some variations even within a section. Meant to just give the idea of the parallax scrolling image in the back ground, as well as the calendar option. We could use the "Communication Center" you already created. below the calendar idea I put on the below mock up. ?I was trying to come up with a happy medium.

If we went with the circle icon with the title of the calendar event, could we allow for just this area to scroll to show more than 6 events? so maybe we would load 12-16 events but you would scroll in the section of just the calendar?

?Hey Sam,

I have a few items that we would like changed on the homepage for the Church and School. Most of the changes are for the school site to look very parallel to the Church site. With the change of the map we discussed over the phone.

Here is an example of the screen for the top bar. The screen is below the actual bar.

We like the way the calendar looks from the most recent proof. Just apply to the School.

Church Icons

- Mass Times

- Calendar

- Bulletin

- Parish Registration

- Events

- Support

School

Icons in top Blue Bar - change gold to white for the actual icon

Order from left to right

- Wildcat Wire

- Calendar

- Lunch

- Powerschool

- News

- Alumni Registration

Communication Center Icons

- Schedule a Tour

- MyParish APP

- IWN ( school news from students)

- Virtue of the Month

- Social Media

Channel drop menus ideas

Or all of them shown at the same time

I will be in touch with a few ideas for the Sub Channel Page, and a very vague inner page design. We haven't discussed this in depth, but I had a few thoughts.

Hey Sam,

Thanks for the proofs! Just wanted to touch base on a few items for the church and school homepage. I will be sending a mock up of the inner pages in a separate email.

1. Add Gold/Yellow to the School homepage

Overall the School homepage will need some of the Gold/Yellow color. I know we originally had it in the icon bar, and didn't like, but we need the gold/yellow to differentiate the church from the school. Maybe down in the school news/events section and in the calendar.

2. Icon Bar - adding a 6th one, and in the order below left to right.
Church Icons

- Mass Times
- Calendar
- Bulletin
- Parish Registration
- Events
- Support

School Icons
Icons in top Blue Bar - change gold to white for the actual icon
Order from left to right
- Wildcat Wire
- Calendar
- Lunch
- Powerschool
- News
- Alumni Registration

3. Communication Center Icons for the school (remove the question form)
In this order left to right
- Schedule a Tour
- MyParish APP
- Marketplace/Spirit Shop
- Virtue of the Month
- Social Media

4. Small arrow that lives in the right corner of the page to offer a scroll to the top whenever needed ( as you scroll)

5. Map at the bottom for the school, we discussed maybe only using half the screen. Could we see what that would look like?

6. Top right corner Contact info.. we would like to go with something like this image..
small icons, but then as you hover over them they offer the actual info, address, phone # etc. These are not very uniform, but were just to give the concept.
[cid:2e306de4-c2e2-4270-897a-954f1ee1b7ef]

7. Social Media Feed
We were looking at other sites, and trying to decide how to handle this.. We have an icon, but some of the team was thinking maybe we should have a live feed shown on the homepage of both church and school ?
I found these sites have a live feed.
https://stbrigid-midland.org/parish/

[cid:10e3581b-23ab-4d22-8e21-3db796b341c9]

https://www.hsparish.org/

[cid:74047ab6-a045-4161-a43e-312090f0ff09]

Are you able to offer a page like this example:
Like a Social media hub page with several different SM options all on one page?
So we could just use the icon, and it would take the viewer to this "hub" page and they can pick what they want? We don't love how this is organized, but like the idea of a hub page. So can we have them linked so that whatever is posted on SM, it shows up here?
Is that an RSS feed? Sorry I am still learning a lot of this.

[cid:ba64ee26-f229-4c51-ab0c-ae93f866e9a8]

8. Image behind the calendar - can we see that carry down and be behind the Communication center too? Not certain that we might not just need a solid white, but curious what it would look like?

9. How will online submission forms work? And payments too? What payment portals can you work with?

10. Do you have an examples of how a google cal integration will look ?

https://holyspiritschoolgr.org/calendars/ - is this a google calendar?
We are just curious of how it will appear?

Thanks again for all your help.

?3. Colors for Church Home page

What were the two colors we finalized on for the church?

I know we switched back and forth a bit, and we have screened blocks of color which are just a variation of the color, yet look different. But the Event titles bar looks much different which is where my questioning is coming from.

4. Just confirming you said Friday, we can change the thicknesses of fonts within the font style chosen in development stage correct?

Hey Sam, just had another thought. Sorry to bombard you, I don't want to miss anything!

?I think we will need to have some space for photo galleries on a page. Is that something that we could just add in wherever we want on a page, or will we need to actually build a separate page that offers that ?

I think it would be good to include a gallery on a page, almost like a quick preview box that would allow a pop up window with the gallery ?
The Missions/beliefs variation templates would be a good place for this I think?

Thoughts?

As long as development goes smooth and we done have many changes at that time we will be fine with our projection, but if we go over all the time allotted we will begin to charge for the changes. Thank you for understanding, I have a few comments about the changes you sent this morning below.

 Changes

FONT
font weight changes can be made in development if it doesn't sit well or doesn't look like it is thick or thin enough for you, that is fine. I think what is currently set for the pages will be fine, please just wait till development to see for yourselves how it looks on the web. (just a reminder that the type is not accurate when you are looking at the proofs but we are using Standard web sizes and weights, everything should be fine)

NAVIGATION BAR DROP DOWNS ("Channels")
Like the Navigation bar problem I was talking with you about last week, for the drop down menu we will have to choose one. Either we can go with option A where you have each item under each menu show for the site (I don't recommend, as it has lead to confusion for visitors as to what goes with each category) And B the layout that shows only whats in the category selected with an image. I would choose B simply to get away from any form of confusion that may occur.

LANDING PAGE
The main landing page will not be hard to put together in development But i will include a mock of it in the set I send to developers, I will use the same design you presented above!

Colors for the Church Page

I can assure you that the colors being used are all the same, It is one weird thing with color that when you have a screen over an image the color being used is Diluted (slightly opaque) creating a color that is not 100% going to look like the one being used for the screen, the content and saturation of the background will effect the color and vibrancy of the opaque fore ground.
-So basically they are the same color, one is just more transparent that the other, revealing and mixing with the background as it was intended.

The base blue is: #00457C
Base Blue transparency: #00457C (75% opacity)
Secondary blue(lighter shade): #5B8EDB

I hope this helps with some of the concerns you had! For the things we need definitive answers let me know what you decide (Nav Menu, Live! Alert, DropDowns) So i can make note of them as we move to development.

Thanks,

Samuel Lanning

Sam, Thanks for all the feedback, and thank you for communicating where we are on the allotment of time given to each stage of building the site. I surely don't want to have to pay over the contact agreement, yet want to make sure we don' t forget anything.

Photo Galleries - I sent a followup email regarding photo galleries. I do think this is something that is probably important to include, even if it means more time. Is this something we can integrate into the templates as I described?

Landing Page - I have attached a photo of our Altar and outside building as a starting point for the landing page.

Final Approvals - I am meeting with Team tomorrow and will have some of the items we need finalized.

Here is my list, let me know if I missed something ?

School Channel bar - Blue or white throughout site

Nav Menu - A - all showing, or B - 2 column with image

Verify fonts changes from Friday proofs with school team

What did I miss?

Was this all the same item? or three different ?

(Nav Menu, Live! Alert, DropDowns)

"For as in one body we have many parts, and all the parts do not have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ and individually parts of one another." - Romans 12:4-5

TO THE CLIENT Sam Lanning
The photo galleries will be an easy feature to have on any page, I think the easiest way to have this would have a single row that presents 3-6 images with a button "view full gallery" that way it doesn't take up too much space over all.

The last section where I am asking you to select one of the two options we have discussed throughout the process. the items you have given me two options is those three items (Nav, Live! alert, and drop downs) I would prefer is we selected one item for each so we have a definitive design when going to development. the More styles, the more confusion.

I don't think I have been given a definitive decision on these, We need to decide on one or the other.

School Navbar (Channels)
A: Blue Background
B: White background

Live! Alert
A: Full Screen Popup
B: Small popup off left side of screen

Drop Down Menu
A: All Nav Item Sub-topics at once
B: Two columns with an image for each Nav Item

?will this allow for like a slideshow effect, looping around ?

TO THE CLIENT Sam Lanning
No, for the pages with a gallery option at the bottom most visitors will either click an image or the full gallery button before allowing all the images to cycle through a slider/slideshow. This is not necessary for the gallery addition and will just add unnecessary animation on pages that wont get the use of that animation to the fullest of its ability.

Sliders should be used for main landing pages and simple imagery, 3-6 images max. I would personally never recommend a slider for an image gallery.

If that is something you would want, we could go with a single image on the bottom of the page as a slide show with the button in the middle.

?I don't think I fully understand.

Do you know of any example sites I could look at that diocesan has done?

Would it be better for us to use a 3rd party photo provider? I noticed one site used flickr? the school was looking into using photoshelter I think.

I dont have any examples at the moment. I can try to find some at the end of the day. Best I can explain is

What you are trying to accomplish is a photo gallery for some pages, you should present it as a gallery then. which are typically rows and columns of a few images.

a Slider/Slideshow is best used on homepages or In sections where you're presenting the use of other information as well as the image itself. Typically we do not recommend the use of more than 3-6 images for a slideshow.

Hey Sam,

I wanted to get back to you about the some of the final decisions, as well as we had a few other concerns that I wanted to share, just in case you needed to note before handing over to development.

Concerns

1. Calendar on both Home pages

Numbers - make BOLD

2. Contact Us Page

Copy above submit buttons seems small

3. School now has 3 live SM Feeds (was just 2)

4. School Homepage Comm. Center

- Make 5th icon a Directory Link (was undecided)

5. Missions Belief/ Hybrid Page

- Would like copy for all versions in 2 columns, but would like all versions of the page made available. 3 total : the hybrid version, the most recent with image across all page, and the copy only page.

6. For Students page is not for a Channel template (not certain this matters, but just wanted to verify)

- it will be used like the Dev. & Prayer page as one of the "items under a channel" for a sub category, under the For Students Page. The For Students page would be like the Worship template with the list of every subcategory offered under that channel.

7. Mobile -

- Missing events/news section from the homepage

8. Landing Page

Address only once as it is the same for both church and school

Font for name needs changed to a San Serif Font - prob to match what we send for the logos on home pages

But also Name should read "of" Loyola - Saint Ignatius of Loyola Parish/School

9. Body Copy Font - Can we try Raleway - medium style (instead of regular) - seems hard to read light copy on dark background

10. Photo galleries available on templates - the school uses Photoshelter - would this be able to just embed on pages? Can we just add when we want in development stage or do we need to have on every template now?

Final Decisions - you have asked about - let me know if I missed something

11. School Channel Bar - BLUE for all pages

12. Nav. Menu - Use the 2 column list with the image style

13. Alert/Live - prefer the bar from the left, but would like to have the second option available - centered rectangle

I was planning to print these templates to try and start assigning to the sitemaps.

Here is a ?list of the templates we plan to use:

Contact page

RCIA page

Worship page (only template w/parallax images)

Devotional & Prayer/For Students Page

Staff Directory with hovering capabilities and bio options

Missions Belief - Hybrid Page - 2 column copy

Missions Belief - Copy only - 2 column copy

Missions Belief - Photo across width of page (most recent) - 2 column copy
Inclusive Education page

(Maybe) Photo Gallery page?

Just wanting to make sure we are on the same page, and keeping clear communication.

Thanks for the style sheet. Should the circle quick links and rounded bars be on that page as we would like to use those interchangeably??

I am working on getting you the correct fonts/logos for the church and school.

Let me know if I missed something.

The Photo gallery options is the only big concern I feel is left, otherwise I think we are good to sign off into development. ?I called today to discuss the photos, spoke with someone else as you were not available. She mentioned finding some samples, as it is hard to understand what it will look like without seeing.

Talk to you soon.

thank you again for all the help in designing our site.

Thank you for all this! I will start out my day tomorrow by making sure this is all set and ready to go, after that I will send all the proofs back to you with an approval notice so we can confirm we are good for development!

Good morning,

I am going through your concerns and making notes on what should and shouldn't be worried about. I will have the notes to you soon!

Thanks,

Samuel Lanning
TO THE CLIENT Sam Lanning
1. Done.

2. That Is subtext and meant to be smaller, Still very readable at 14pt.

3. I Made it 3

4. Good choice!

5. Ok

6. What are you talking about? I don't understand what you mean by "Channel Template" I think what you're talking about is the sites Pages, as we use templates just call them pages. In any wireframe or site map design we just call them pages.

Typically when using a Site map we designate items as pages, and 'Navigation items', which is what I believe you are refereeing to as 'channels', I just want to make sure that I am not getting confused when trying to accomplish and fix these issues before we complete the project.

7. Please disregard the mobile mock ups at this point. Everything that is on the main desktop mock up will be on mobile. We design with mobile in mind so this is not an issue and shouldn't be a concern from this point on.

8. a. Address is now centered bottom
    b. Made the change, added to proof
    c. See above Statement.

9. Believe me when I say your typefaces are fine as is, this can be adjusted in development if you still feel it isn't large enough. We don't need to worry about any typeface sizes at the moment.

Please be patient so we can show you how it looks on the web before continuing to change the typefaces any more.

10. This can be added into the site during development. I am not sure about the integration of word press and photo shelter but there are some articles about it so we will be just fine!

11. Sounds great, thank you

12. Good Choice, thank you

13. I still disagree with having two options, I would still recommend choosing one option and sticking with it. If you have to go with two, what is the reason you want to go with two options to reach a similar outcome?

Please keep in mind that when printing them the sizes are no where near the actual final products measurements. Check out this to get a better idea of the web sizing (still not 100% accurate)

On our side here, we are ready for development. I will send the proofs to you as soon as I finalize the changes so you can have one more look through them. I am more than confident we can complete your site with everything we have now.

Thanks,

Samuel Lanning

Ill make that fix! Thanks, also the styles page that represents the header and footers both have the standard ones we'll be using. I will make sure the devs get that info!
