I added some pictures and opposing colors (shades) to give a sense of depth and balance between content and images/videos. I also put icons in to show how that can work.

Thanks for the like-real proof!!! It looks great! I think I forgot to add that the team was concerned that in the Parish news section, we wouldn't be able to see the titles. Could you move the title/copy below image. Maybe try them centered first?
Also, could we see what it would like to have the images touch and go the entire width of the page? No negative white space between them? so maybe add one more image to fill all the white space in ?
Also, do you want me to send some images to fill in?
We have a meeting tomorrow. I will be sure to discuss colors with everyone, and if I can get some feedback today/tonight, I will be in touch!

I restructured the logo to allow the nav bar (typeface has not been changed yet) to fit better with the current state.
