Development Link and Training

Good afternoon Marlene and Brittany,

We have reached the point in development at which we share a link to the development site with you.

Training Sessions
The first training session typically takes ~2 hours and is done remotely via a screen share program. We will send over the meeting link and phone number in a later email.

During the training sessions, we go over:
  • How to edit the homepage content
  • How to edit the footer
  • How to edit the menu
  • How to create/edit inner pages
  • How to create/edit posts
  • How to create/edit image galleries
  • How to create/edit online forms
Since this can be a lot, we break the training down into two sessions:

Session 1: Editing the site basics
Session 2: Editing the additional site features & answering follow-up questions

This is completely up to your learning pace and how much you feel comfortable covering at once.

Development Site Link
Something to keep in mind is that the site is not quite completed yet, with the largest thing being mobile responsiveness. That said, it is best to look at the development site on a desktop computer, rather than a laptop or smaller screen. Mobile development/responsiveness is something that the developer completes after the training so that he can update any changes along with the original development!

Other than that, if you see anything that alarms you (design or functionality), please let me know and we can address your concerns.

Please let us know what dates and times work best for the training or if you have any other questions,

Thank you!

Hi Alan,

The website looks great! There were a few things I saw that were inaccurate, such as the office hours. But if you are asking solely about design/functionality, I didn't see any issues.

As far as what will work for me for training. I am on vacation June 8-15. After that, typically Tuesdays and Wednesdays work best for me. I will be going on maternity leave for 12 weeks around August (due date is Aug. 13).

Thanks!

Hello Brittany,

I will be the one training you on the website. Most, if not all, of those inaccuracies, can be changed later and pretty easily.

I am available Tuesday, June 16th and Wednesday, June 17th between 10:15 AM and 4 PM to train, if one of those works for you. The training will be ~1.5-2 hours.

Just let me know if one of those works for you, otherwise we can look into other days/times.

Thank you,

The website looks great!! There area few things that need correcting, but I like the design and function of the website. As far as training, Tuesdays or Wednesdays work best, but Monday afternoon would also work.

Thank you!

Wonderful,

I will send the meeting information on Monday, June 15th. That way it is more recent in your inbox.

Have a nice vacation, Brittany!

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Cody,

The good news is I created a marriage request form for our website. The bad news is I don't remember what to do from there. I don't remember how to make it a link so people can get to it or how to set up the message they'll receive after submitting it. Could you help?

Thanks!
TO THE CLIENT Cody Armock, Web Content Specialist at Diocesan
Hello Brittany,

Wonderful. When you are editing the fields of the form, up above there is a tab for 'Settings', when you hover over settings you can go to Form Settings (Configuration of the form), Confirmations (What the user sees when they hit submit) and the Notifications (Who gets notified via email when the form is submitted).

You'll most likely want to complete all three of those screens/options to make the form as customized as you would like it to be, especially the Notifications.

Let me know if you need any further help!

Thank you,

Thank you. How do I make the marriage request form a link so that I can put it on our matrimony page?
TO THE CLIENT Cody Armock, Web Content Specialist at Diocesan
Hello Brittany,

I am sorry I overlooked that part of the question. There is actually a Form block that will in the embed list in the block library or by typing "/form" into an empty paragraph block. From there, you will be able to select the Marriage Form on any page by using the Form block and selecting that form from the dropdown.

Do you have the video from our last training? I don't think I ever received it.

Hello Brittany,

I put it in the same folder as the first one and most likely forgot to tell you that. Here is the link:

Hi Cody,

On our website, saintjosephgalion.org (http://saintjosephgalion.org/), the pictures of the posts are appearing stretched. Are you able to fix that?

Thanks!
TO THE CLIENT Cody Armock, Web Content Specialist at Diocesan
Good Morning Brittany,

There is not an easy fix that will work for all images. It is a 3.5:2 aspect ratio for the images on the homepage, so you could set images that are that aspect ratio. Once the user clicks on the post, however, it will show the image in the correct proportion. The reason why there is a set aspect ratio for the homepage is that it makes it a cleaner and neater look.

As a reminder, any additional support questions can be sent to webdepartment@diocesan.com, since this project is launched and the basecamp project is archived, often times we will not receive email updates through here.

Thank you,
