Content Strategy

Good afternoon Marlene and Brittany,

I hope you have been doing well since we last talked.

For the content portion of the process, you will be working with Cody Armock.  I have included him in this email as well.  Cody's role here at Diocesan's web department is as a content specialist. This means, that in addition to going over what areas of your current website are staying or going, he will also help you find the most effective way to layout your website. Cody will be helping you in this process from now until the training before the launch of the site.

This not only helps us build you a website that is easier to edit and manage but also allows anyone visiting your website to accurately and consistently find the information for which they are looking.

Thinking about content before the design is important because it will make the design process easier and tailor it better to your needs. It is similar to building a house. Content strategy is figuring out how many bedrooms and square footage you need when picking floorplans. The design process is the customizing of the space (walls, flooring, exterior, colonial vs modern style, etc.). Content migration/creation is the filling of your rooms with furniture and your possessions. Without the content strategy process, the house may not suit your needs.

Below is a link to a live Google document of your current sitemap that you are able to edit directly. Please go through this sitemap and make the appropriate edits to display what pages you'd like Diocesan to migrate, as well as removing the items that you do NOT want Diocesan to move.

Once you have completed editing the pages you'd like Diocesan to migrate, please let Cody know and we will begin making a suggested sitemap for the new site based on your current sitemap. The suggested sitemap is created to optimize the flow and look of your site. We will then send you the suggested sitemap to edit and change as needed and when finished, approve it.

Once you approve the suggested sitemap, we will begin the design process. A designer will reach out to you to begin the design process when we have received the final version of the suggested sitemap. In order for the designer to provide the best design, it is important to revise the current sitemap.

Thank you for choosing Diocesan and we are very excited to work with you on creating a new website for you and the people at St. Joseph.

Let me know if you have any questions,

Hi Marlene and Brittany,

I want to apologize because the link in my previous email was not your sitemap.  You would have gotten a second email from me anyway because you need a sitemap for both Holy Trinity and St Joseph.  Below are the correct links for BOTH Holy Trinity and St Joseph.

Again, I apologize for the confusion.

Hi Alan, I just went through St. Joseph's and just made a couple small changes. I noticed Mass and Confession times aren't listed and would obviously be very important, but I think they weren't listed because they are on our homepage. I just wanted to make sure they will be on the homepage again along with our bulletins. I think those 3 things are the main things people come to a parish website for: Mass times, Confession times, and the bulletin.

Thanks so much!

Good afternoon! I made the changes for Holy Trinity and Brittany made changes for St. Joseph.

Thank you!!
TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan

Hi Brittany,

I added a section at the end of the page that includes a section for other pages that we'll take into consideration and add to the suggested sitemap. If there are any other pages we may have missed or pages you'd like added to the new website, feel free to add them to the list at the end.

Also, I have gone ahead and marked your current sitemap approved. The next step is for our content specialist to create and send you an updated, suggested sitemap for your approval within a week.
Once the suggested sitemap has been approved, we will begin content migration.

In the meantime, please let us know if you have any questions about the overall process or something in particular.
