First Training Session
Good afternoon David,
Now that we have sent out the link to the development site, we'd like to schedule your first training session as well.
The first training session typically takes ~2 hours and is done remotely via Diocesan's version of TeamViewer. At the beginning of our phone call, I will walk you through how to set up the remote access program.
During the training sessions, we go over:
- How to edit the homepage content
- How to edit the footer
- How to edit the menu
- How to create/edit inner pages
- How to create/edit posts
- How to create/edit/use image galleries
- How to create/edit/use online forms
- Any other questions that you may have
Since this can be a lot, we break the training down into two sessions:
- Editing the site basics (pages, posts, menu, homepage)
- Editing the additional site features & answering follow-up questions (forms, galleries, etc.)
This is completely up to your learning pace and how much you feel comfortable covering at once.
Once we have our first training session, the developer will begin to complete the mobile responsivness of the overall site so that you will be ready to launch.

As for your questions:

The suggested sitemap here has a few notes on missing items and questions.
We do not have the Google Calendar ID for the parish's main website calendar, only the faith formation calendars. Once you provide us with the ID, we will update the Calendar featured button and the homepage calendar to display Holy Spirit's events. - Is all the content moved over?
We have moved all of the content as seen on the Proposed Sitemap here. We have left notes for anything we did not move or add to the new website if any information was missing. - Is the mobile version ready?
Mobile development is something done last, after the first training session. This way, if there are any updates to the backend or frontend of the website, all mobile development can be done at one time rather than doing it piece by piece and risking something getting forgotten. One item you may see is the main menu spacing. This is also a mobile development item that will be completed. - Also, the new parishioner registration page does not work. The design of that form was supposed to be included in our contract.
Cody has made a to-do to recreate your parishioner registration form. Are we correct in believing that you would like us to recreate this form on your new website? If so, let us know and we can get started on that right away. If not, please send us the version you would like us to recreate.

In order to switch it, I went to edit the Homepage and then navigated to the featured buttons tab and went to the homilies buttons and clicked the "edit" pencil to edit the link and changed the URL to the soundcloud.com link and checked the "Open in new tab" box, since it is going off-site. This way, if another one of those featured buttons needs to be changed you know how to do it.

I have changed those two items. Both of those can be edited in the Theme Settings, which controls things that are site-wide like the Logo, contact info, anything in the footer, the two buttons on the bottom of the homepage, quick links, and the Button up by the search. The changes have been made though.

If you are editing in the backend and add a new block where you want it and it creates the default paragraph block you can type "/spacer" or search the blocks for "spacer" and adjust the height of the block from 20px - 100+px.

If it is preferable, we can make the entire post box on the homepage link over to the single post page. That is, everything inside the highlighted yellow box (see image below) would be a link to the single post/read more page.

I did this by going to the Staff Members in the WordPress Menu and then adding a new staff member inputting the same information in his other listing and changing the Title to Pastoral Coordinator and then categorizing this separate one as Office Staff instead of Clergy. If they are Office Staff, they will show in the Table whereas Clergy will show with the pictures.
I have told the developer to work on these ones first and they will be done by Tuesday at the latest before we launch. #2 is done as of now.

As before, please refrain from editing or logging into the site until you receive an email saying that the site is launched. The launch process will begin ~9am EST tomorrow and should be finished by ~1pm EST. So any changes that you have made between that time may be removed.

I still have some concerns about the mobile version of the site; some pages have elements that are off center. The staff page clergy faces are obscured by the red gradient box.
I don't think we should delay the launch, but could you let me know if we can get these issues fixed?

Hello David,
I believe I have fixed the issue with that by making the images slightly bigger within the Envira Gallery. The problem may also exist innately within the images since they are long and slender and that makes them looked stretched or cropped. I have also included a note at the top of the page telling the user that they can click on the image to enlarge it. That should help with the visibility of the images since they can then zoom in on the photo better.

We do our best to cover the broad range of devices and testing on devices ranging from phone to tablet to laptop to desktops, but there are times and issues that do arise that go uncaught based on certain circumstances.

The paragraph spacing to-do has been made and will be fixed shortly. There was a piece of code added from another to-do that messed with the spacing and it had unintended consequences but it will be remedied.

I tested it with having it send to my email and it seemed to work fine. I changed the settings and now you should have received a test Email from testEmail@diocesan.com. Please let me know if you did not receive it or if it was blank and I can look into what would be causing that.

Cody, what I mean is, on the main page if you plug your email into the “We would like to hear from you” box, all it does is send a blank email to parish@holyspiritmo.org<mailto:parish@holyspiritmo.org> – it doesn’t give the user a chance to write why they are contacting. If that makes sense.

With the contact form going there, the issue I see with that is that the footer is going to nearly double in size. I have included a screenshot of what the "Contact Us" form looks like in the footer. We will essentially make that a button styled out like what we have there now. That button text and link will be controlled in the theme settings, so that the link will go to the Contact Us page and the link text will be the text on the button, something like "Send Us An Email" with the icon of the airplane.
Were you able to find a time next week that will work for you? Again my availability is: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8am - 3pm CT and Wednesday or Friday between 8am - 12pm CT. For both of those the training anytime after the first time and ending before/at the second time.

Diocesan has not taken over the domain name registration yet. You have sent us the login information for the domain transfer, but as soon as we schedule the domain transfer and initiate it, you will still need to send Diocesan the Authorization (EPP) code (emailed to domain owner). If you believe that there will be an issue with this, please let us know.
Let us know when you want us to initiate that transfer too!
