Content Strategy & Sitemaps
Good afternoon Grace,
I hope you have been doing well since you last spoke with Alan!
My name is Cody Armock and my role here in Diocesan's web department is as a content specialist. This means, that in addition to going over what areas of your current website are staying or going, I also help you find the most effective way to layout your website. I will be helping you in this process from now until the training before the launch of the site.
This not only helps us build you a website that is easier to edit and manage but also allows anyone visiting your website to accurately and consistently find the information for which they are looking.
Below are links to Google documents of your current and proposed sitemap. The current sitemap shows your current site's menu structure and flow. The proposed sitemap is what we suggest for your menu based on our previous experience and what would work best in terms of usability. The proposed sitemap is created to optimize the flow and look of your site.
You can edit the proposed sitemap however you would like, adding pages, removing pages, etc. The proposed sitemap will act as a guide for the content migration process. Please edit the document directly to ensure that the same edits stay throughout all versions and that the content migration process is accurate.

Thank you for choosing Diocesan and we are very excited to work with you on creating a new website for you and the people of Holy Rosary Cathedral.

Cody, this looks great! We will review the sitemap and make any changes necessary. Once the sitemap is decided, how do we create pages? How much of that will be done by you and then by us?
We are so excited!
I look forward to hearing from you.
Grace

Hello Grace,
I've included links to the web archive where "screenshots" of your pages are stored. They are from October of 2020 since many pages cannot be found on the website as it is right now.
In the proposed sitemap, you can add pages in there to get a feel for the menu structure once the site is built. I will bring over what is on the web archive once the proposed sitemap is approved. Once the content migration is done, I will send you the development link and schedule a training with you.
After the first training, you will have a user account for the development site to go in and change/update/add/remove content and/or pages on the site. The development site will be what the launched site will look like.
I hope that helps to clarify things! Let me know if you need more clarification about anything.
Thank you,
Cody Armock

Hi Cody,
Sorry for the lack of follow through with this! We have had a crazy few weeks and this website stuff slipped my mind. The sitemap is good to go, and we are good to move forward. We aren't sure how the website will change in the next few years, but what we have now is a great start.
You can go ahead and start the next steo on your end. Please let me know how we can proceed!
Thanks,
Grace

Good Afternoon Grace,
I was out of the office yesterday and have been slowly catching up on emails and things, so I apologize for the delay.
That is wonderful news! We will get started on the content migration for the website this week and I hope to send you the development link and set up trainings by the end of the week, if not, early next week.
Let me know if you have any questions, otherwise, the next step for you will be the trainings, once the content has been migrated.
Thank you and Happy Ascension!
