Development Link & Training
Good morning Jacob & Andi,
We have reached the point in development at which we share a link to the development site with you.
Training Sessions
The first training session typically takes ~2 hours and is done remotely via a screen share program. We will send over the meeting link and phone number in a later email.
During the training sessions, we go over:
- How to edit the homepage content
- How to edit the footer
- How to edit the menu
- How to create/edit inner pages
- How to create/edit posts
- How to create/edit image galleries
- How to create/edit online forms
Since this can be a lot, we break the training down into two sessions:
Session 1: Editing the site basics
Session 2: Editing the additional site features & answering follow-up questions
This is completely up to your learning pace and how much you feel comfortable covering at once.
Development Site Link
Something to keep in mind is that the site is not quite completed yet, with the largest thing being mobile responsiveness. That said, it is best to look at the development site on a desktop computer, rather than a laptop or smaller screen. Mobile development/responsiveness is something that the developer completes after the training so that he can update any changes along with the original development!
Other than that, if you see anything that alarms you (design or functionality), please let me know and we can address your concerns.

Hello Cody,
Thank you for all of your work! The new website is looking great so far.
Would there be a time available for training this Wednesday between 1:30 and 3:00 pm? If not Wednesday, anytime late Thursday morning or Friday would work for me.
Blessings,
Jacob C. Gwynn

Perfect, thank you! If we start the meeting no later than 2pm, I’ll have plenty of time to complete the training for this session.

Hello Cody,
I hope you are doing well. I talked with Andi and we would like to launch the new website on Ash Wednesday, March 2nd. Please let me know if that can happen.
Also, I would like to add a plugin to our website called "Next Steps." It is a free launcher and it is compatible with WordPress but I don't see any options to add a plugin on my end.
Thanks again for all of your help!
IN XP,
Jake

Hello Jake,
We can set the tentative launch date for then. We don't have to add that launcher plugin. We will do everything for free and you don't have to do anything. In order to help us facilitate the launch easier, we will need login access to your domain (holycrossdov.org). It looks like it is hosted through eNom. We just need the username and password in order to change the DNS records to launch the site.
We also see that in the proposal you wanted to transfer the domain over to us. We will do this after the launch, so that there is less potential for errors and for the site to go down.
Thank you,

Hello Cody,
I will find out the login information for the domain. I will send you the username and password when I find them. Thanks!

Hello Cody,
Hope you are doing well. I have a few quick questions/ observations:
1) Is there a way we can make the reCaptcha icon on the bottom right of the screen disappear? I like that there the website is protected against robots but I would like for the icon to go away at the bottom of every page.
2) on the back end, when I try to edit the "Lenten Resources" page there is a glitch when I try to set a button image for the "Lenten Fish Fry" button. As you see there is no image for that button because it wiggs out when I try to select a photo for that button.
3) For the front page, Mass times, how would I change the Mass times for Holy Week or other Mass times that are outside of the normal rotating Mass schedule for the matter?
Thanks for all of your help.

Jake

Hello Jacob,
I have included my answers below in bolded text:
1) Is there a way we can make the reCaptcha icon on the bottom right of the screen disappear? I like that there the website is protected against robots but I would like for the icon to go away at the bottom of every page. I added a Privacy Policy link to the Quick Links in the footer that has a section on it for reCAPTCHA because that page is now in the User Flow, meaning that people can get to it, we can hide that badge at the bottom of every page.
2) on the back end, when I try to edit the "Lenten Resources" page there is a glitch when I try to set a button image for the "Lenten Fish Fry" button. As you see there is no image for that button because it wiggs out when I try to select a photo for that button.
I think this was an issue with a plugin and updating fixed it. It might also just be a glitch that happens sometimes. I have had it happen on another website too and when I tried it now, but it did not do it after updating, so it may be fixed. If it happens after a couple of retries and after clearing your cache, let us know and we can take a deeper look.
3) For the front page, Mass times, how would I change the Mass times for Holy Week or other Mass times that are outside of the normal rotating Mass schedule for the matter? This is a little tricky, but easiest way is probably just to add a section on the All Mass Times Page, otherwise, for the different liturgical seasons you'd have to make sure to update the website at the right time to change those Mass Times to what is needed and remember to change it back after Holy Week/Christmas is over.
I hope that helps! Also, I think you should be aware that this Thursday will be my last day at Diocesan as I am moving on to another position elsewhere. If you need assistance after then, Arthur and Ryan are copied on this thread, so they can respond too.
