Development Progress & Training
Hello Lauren,
Early last week, our developer began building out your website. Our goal is to have the website at 80% completion by the end of next week. This way, we will try our best to launch by December 28, but will still have the wiggle room of the January 4 hard deadline.
Since we are looking at the timeline, I wanted to see if we could put something on the calendar in terms of training. If we plan on launching December 28, I'd like your staff to have at least 2 weeks to get familiar with the website. Are your people available December 12, 13 or 14th? I am available after 1 pm on the 12th and any time on the 13th and 14th. Since I know we may be training a rather large staff, we could also consider having two trainings. Perhaps one for the school and another for the parish?
As for what to expect in the training, it will be done remotely with Diocesan connecting to a single one of your computers (we will walk you through the setup) and calling you. Since it will be a large group, please consider having the training in a room where you can connect the computer to a TV/projector and have access to a speakerphone.
Other than that, the training typically takes ~2 hours, depending on the amount of questions.
Please keep in mind that we can always set up another training closer to launch in which we can go over everyone's questions. If you'd like to set this up, I suggest December 20 or 21.

Hi Lauren,
If you're the only person, that makes it much more convenient! Sometimes we are in contact with only one person, but in reality there are many more people working on the website than we anticipate. If it's just you, the training can be tailored entirely to your needs and how you see yourself using the website.
Does Thursday, December 13, from 9:00-11:00 am or 10:00 am - 12:00 pm work better for you?

No problem. I used to work at a parish office, so I completely understand how crazy things can get when you're juggling so many things at once. For that reason, we try to build our website so that they are easy to understand and update.

1. Can you upload some stock photos of the Angel Statues that Sam was using in his design to use as our featured image? The images I keep trying get really pixelated and don't look great.
2. On the myParish App page, whatever that looks like, can there be directions on how to download the app as well as the messages or whatever comes through?
3. On the Resources page on the school site, under Current Families, can all of those documents and links be working by next Wednesday?

Hey there Lauren,
- I changed the default image to match, so you should be all set. The image's resolution is 5000 px by 4000 px, so that should definitely cover it.
- Yes, we can definitely do that. In fact, we will be putting information on the page that is similar to this one: https://sacredheartsouthport.org/myparish-app/
- I will fix those links by our Wednesday meetings.

I spent a couple more hours with the websites last night and have the following questions (all from the Church site):
1. There are still three pages on the Christian Service list that do not work: the Annual Thanksgiving Dinner, the Health Ministry page, and the page for the South Oakland Shelter.
2. On the Volunteer Opportunities page the text is misaligned. I tried to clear the formatting like we talked about, but could not get it to all go left aligned.
3. All of the child pages for Adult Formation are not formatted. I'm thinking maybe they are supposed to be formatted like the Sacrament pages? Also they are not linked to the Adult Formation landing page.
4. The bulletins do not seem to be pulling through to the Bulletin page
5. Can we make the page that is currently Worship, actually be a child page of the Worship heading (like it is on the current site)? I think I am eventually going to have the headings be #, like on the school site, and I don't want to lose that page.
6. Can you help me figure out how to center the video on the Music Ministry page?
7. And a couple things on the homepage....
* The text over Unleash the Gospel should be white like the others now and it appears as if the subtext that appears when you are hovering does not have the same spacing as the other image buttons. The sentence runs into the bottom of the p in Gospel.
* I think we already discussed trying to recenter the Archdiocese of Detroit crest so that it is not a white box. I've also attached another possible image, if it works better or allows you to fill in a dark background (I don't have photoshop capabilities).
* The Contact Us form is incomplete. It can be the same as the current website's and then linked to the homepage button
* The image that falls behind the Registration and Contact Us buttons is still the tunnels. I think I uploaded two different pictures of the exterior of our church, if we could somehow get one of those in the background, it would be much more appropriate for our parish. I think the tunnel image covers almost the entire homepage as it can also be seen behind the image buttons.
8. And lastly, as I mentioned in my last correspondence, I think the featured banners on both sites are still too blurry. They are not as crisp like shown in Sam's samples. If this has to do with the gradient that was added, maybe we need to remove that. I'd rather have a clear image.
After all of this, I think we will be set. I'll begin working on the preschool page, as soon as I get the ok to change pictures, text, etc.

I know everyone is working diligently to get the website up and running before our phone call today, and I hate to ask, but I wonder if we could reschedule our phone call. I have to get my one-year-old to the doctor and the only available appointment time they had was 1:00 pm. I'm available before or after that time, but just not right at 1:00 anymore. I'm so sorry. Good morning Lauren,
- I have migrated and linked the Dr Mona article.
- Adding to the secondary menu (gold bar) is something that you can do by going to Appearance > Menus then switching from primary menu to secondary menu. For now, I have done this for you.
- The image that is currently the default background is the same image that Sam used. I have attached it here as well.
Once we remove the overlay, here is what it will look like at various screen sizes:
For now, I have cropped the default image to better show the portion of the photo that Sam used in the mockup.

I know the developer is working on the staff pages now and that should be the last thing he has left to do for the launch.
I just sent Sal (and you) an email on how to launch the school site. I have let him know that the launch will take place at noon today.
Once he launches the school site, we will complete the launch by replacing all guardiana.diocesanweb.org links with either guardiana.com or gaschool.com links.
