Domain information

Good afternoon,

You have let us know that you would like your espiritusanto.cc domain to be transferred to Diocesan. 

There are two ways that we can go about doing this:
  1. Provide Diocesan with your domain login credentials and we will initiate the transfer OR
  2. Your current domain owner can initiate the transfer

1. Provide Diocesan with Login
Below are the things we need for the login:
  • Login URL
  • Username/email
  • Password
Once Diocesan has initiated the transfer, you will still need to send Diocesan the Authorization (EPP) code (emailed to domain owner).  If you believe that there will be an issue with this, please let us know. 

2. We Will Initiate Domain Transfer
  1. Unlock your domain 
  2. Send us the Authorization (EPP) Code
  3. Send to email webdepartment@diocesan.com
  4. Diocesan initiates transfer
  5. You confirm the transfer
  6. Transfer complete!

Hello Deacon John,


The domain transfer will not affect the operation of your current website, but it does make it easier for the launch process when that time comes. The primary reason that people transfer their domain to Diocesan is for the ease of transition when launching and paying hosting and domain renewal in one place rather than to multiple companies. Also, domains are set to auto-renew until you request otherwise, so your domain does not go down due to late or non-payment.

As for the development site (prototype), we host this on our own server and not on your domain at all so it does not affect your current website. Once we have completed the development on your new site, we will send you a link to the development site (prototype) for you to view and train on. Then, once it comes time to launch, your domain URL will point to the development site (prototype).

If you prefer, Diocesan can launch your site (we will send DNS changes to your current domain contact) and then initiate the transfer. All this means is that the launch will be facilitated on your end and out of Diocesan's hands.

Good afternoon -
I tried the username and password you gave me for the account at https://compbizinc.com and it did not work - so I'm thinking I may have written it down incorrectly.  Would you want to try sending it to me by email?  You can leave off the website, as I have that part, and I'm thinking the username I have correct as ejones211 - if I have that part wrong, you can let me know here.  

But if you could email just the password to mgoeldel@diocesan.com, I can give it another try - I likely just have a letter not capitalized or some other error in it.  To keep it safe, you can just send the password and nothing else, if you'd like - I'll know what it's for!

Ahh, thank you, Terry - that's the missing part!
I usually clarify b's and d's over the phone but hadn't thought of "e" sounding the same - thanks for the correction, and I will get started on the transfer - it really only takes a matter of minutes once we get logged in, and then there's usually a 5-day waiting period while the company does the work.

Yes, I logged in and saw both - we can transfer them both, that's not a problem.  We can (through server settings) have the second redirect to the main once we launch the new site, as you have now.

Until we actually launch the new site, though, everything will remain as it currently is - I'll make no changes to anything until we start the launch process, once your new site is ready to go.

In preparation for the launch next week, we tested the CompBiz login today and the login is no longer working - the CompBiz site seems to be gone?

Have you received any information that your domain was being moved to a new registrar, or that CompBiz was changing to a new login page?

We will need to update the host records for the domain in order to launch, so we will need to log in to the domain in order to make those changes.

I'm no longer able to log into the compbiz link you provided previously.  Either compbiz has changed their website, or your domain has been moved, I can't be certain which is the case, I just know I can no longer access it.

You'll need to check with Brian to see what has happened, and if he is able to log in, we can send him launch instructions.

Let me know if you have any questions about that.  We can't launch the new site, though, until we can access the domain.

Good morning Terry,


To facilitate the transition, all you will need to do is update two host records for https://www.espiritusanto.cc/.  Updating the domain name will point the site to the new server.

You will need to make the following changes to your domain name host records:

Change the www and @ Host records to be A Name types that point to: 104.156.48.29

By changing only the www and @ Host records, you will update the website only and not your email.

The industry standard is to say these changes can take up to 24 hours to propagate.  However, it's been my experience that you can usually see these changes within 2 hours.  You will know it was successful when visiting https://www.espiritusanto.cc/ brings up the site seen here: https://espiritusanto.diocesanweb.org/.

I have also the web team so that they are aware of when the launch is scheduled to begin.

Hi, Terry -
Now that the DNS changes were made, our developer will work to make the changes needed on our end so that the new website shows up.

The change allowed your domain to now look to our server to find your site, and we have to make a few changes to the development site (remove the "diocesanweb" part, for example) so that everything matches up and the site becomes visible again.

I've let the developer know he can proceed with his part.  Thank you!

He's working on the changes right now, and as the DNS changes were made awhile ago, they appear to be propagating already so I don't expect it will take too long once he finishes.  The industry standards are 3-72 hours but it appears it's already mostly showing our server:

He is the one who was trying to help me get the new domain password to you and also there is an SSL needing to be renewed.
