Sticky Navigation

Good Afternoon,

I was speaking with Kyle Sullivan about the navigation and functionality you were looking to accomplish with your new site. He mentions a "sticky navigation" for the site and I wanted to discuss why your approved design wasn't able to benefit from that functionality and a solution to fix it.

When the design was approved with the "container" for the site being around 75-80% of the window. This would lead to an awkward disappearing act for the content on your site, It would go underneath the header into nowhere... or it would show under the logo and search making the section cluttered and unreadable.

I would highly suggest looking into making all of the colored background sections, the navigation, the featured buttons, the parish media, and the footer, even the slider image/video at the top to span the width of the browser window. This would make the functionality of the "sticky navigation" look much more normal and fluid. We would also remove the texture from behind the logo area in the header to distinctively differentiate from the content sections on the page.

If you would like to discuss this a bit more I can help explain things better over the phone sometime tomorrow!

Here is a link that will show you an example of the functions.

Good Morning Sam,

The sticky nav was something that we requested during the design phase. However, let’s discuss and I will go over it with our IT committee on Saturday.

I’m in the office today till noon. Can we speak before then?

Thank you,
Violet
TO THE CLIENT Sam Lanning
Good Morning,

That is my mistake for not expressing this concern during the design phase, but we still have an opportunity to figure out the solution. I am free all day so feel free to send a call  my number is (616) 878-5200 ext. 219

My only concern is how the look of the menu will be when it is sticky and doesn't span the entire width of the page.

Thanks,

Samuel Lanning

Good Morning Sam,

Fr. Bashista and the IT committee approved the Sticky Nav. I would like to speak to you directly about this so we are on the same page rather than us going back and forth on the email.
Hope that works for you. Let me know when you are available to discuss today.

Thanks,
Violet
