I was able to touch base with our developer and due to his other projects and the holiday weekend, he will be starting to work on those updates Thursday or Friday and should have them done sometime early to mid-week next week.

Hello Violet,

The developer who is working on your project is on vacation for the rest of the week. He will have even more than normal on his plate when he comes back so it would probably be easiest if you and I meet again. I can set a time for tomorrow at 3:30 or Friday at 11:30 this week. Monday is open after 11:30 right now but will probably fill up quickly.

Hi Violet,

Thank you for the browser specifications that Father is using.  This was extremely useful in scaling the mockup dimensions to the full-size desktop version that Father wants to see at that scale.

Father does not have to be logged in, so the 1920x969 will be the same for all users.  Although, this does assume his zoom is set to 100%.  Luckily, I have the same browser dimensions on my work PC, so I was able to match things up quite nicely.

As of this writing, here's what I have done, subject to review:

- Matched homepage mockup to scale with 1920x969 browser resolution
- Fixed margins for layouts "two-column", "three-column", and "button"
- Added hover scaling "grow" to Event images
- Standardized the Via Vita promo sizes.  Moving forward you should aim to use an image that is edge to edge (no extra space in the image itself).  I did a bit of guesstimation here, so this may need some tweaking.
- Added mobile-specific News Ticker that shows at just below header on mobile but continues to show in just the slider portion on desktop.  Due to the way the ticker plugin was written, two instances of the same ticker was no possible.  So, I had to create a second ticker in order to accommodate this request.

Attached is a screenshot from my work PC, along with the mockup in Photoshop (I used the grid lines for size purposes) and I left the grid on so you can see it is to 1920 scale even though the image itself is a bit smaller.  Side note, I did add extra spacing for the menu to get it to stretch out, but with the prior changes, it leaves uneven gaps between the bar and the next item.  I put it in to show what I was talking about.  We can leave it as is, revert it back to the way it was (all items equal space, the whole menu centered), or leave it as is but remove the vertical bar.

Thanks for the clarification on the mockup to be used.  I've used this mockup as the model and done my best to accommodate at 1920x969.  Technically speaking, I have to take back the "make it exact" statement.  More accurately, we can say we can make it awfully close.  Let me summarize the challenges with this request.

Using this mockup, which measures 1920 wide and about 1000px tall, it shows some of the footer.  The request however was that the maroon icons be seated at the bottom of the window, which we can absolutely do (given enough browser height).  The complication is that if we measure this mockup to the bottom of the maroon, we find it's 1920x870.  Now we have to scale those dimensions to a browser window that's 1920x969, and we can see that to keep vertical spacing the same as the mockup we have to find 99 pixels of extra space to fill.

Expanding and scaling the center image is no problem, as that kind of comes naturally.  The right column of quick links we can add padding to the buttons.   We can conditionally size those based on browser height and they will become bigger to reach the target spacing above and below.  However, on the left Via Vita column, we can't do that because we have images rendering based on width, and the width doesn't change.  We could skew them taller but that will be noticeable and I do not recommend that.  The only other thing we can do on the left would be to increase the space between the two images, or use a bigger and taller Via Vita text logo.

After reviewing the approved mockup and making changes as close as possible, this was the end result at 1920x969:

I am in the [home] office and will be attending the meeting shortly.  I have summaries for all the things we discussed in last week's meeting.

I'm addressing the items you mentioned this morning.  Both the spacing of left panel, as well as scaling the logo size.  The logo size is a good example of why I like to do the mobile stuff last.  The logo was enlarged as you requested but I hadn't adapted it for mobile, until now.

The spacing for Via Vita was adjusted, but I should preface this with the fact that it's mathematically impossible to scale it to the 1600px example.  Unlike the buttons, there's no good way to stretch the Via Vita and graphic image taller.  We could make the Via Vita larger, but there's no width room for the graphic image.  Ultimately, there will simply be more space for the Via Vita images height-wise between browser sizes.

Hi Violet,

I've gone through and made the visual changes we discussed in the last group meeting, with the sample we sketched live in the meeting as a guide.

The home page should now reflect that sketch and all that we discussed.  You'll likely need to do a hard-refresh (CTRL-F5) to see the changes reflected.

Additionally, I was able to get the bell icon positioned relative to the maroon bar so that it'll be in the middle of that bar regardless of browser height.

I do have some minor mobile tweaks to get to, such as the position of the bell at different sizes when the maroon adjusts, but those won't be quite as noticeable or critical as the main home page.

Also on my to-do list is the default 14px font in Classic Editor.  I expect to have that sorted out in the next hour.

The News & Events featured link is a link you can control via the Home Page.  It's in the Featured Links section.  Previously, I had updated the links on the old landing page.  I've since updated the link on the home page as you requested.

During the transition, no plugins were removed, so all of your existing functionality remains the same.

Additional features were added and some areas were re-worked, such as we switched from Pages to Categories for post archives.  There was no need for a page to lists posts.

So you're looking for Categories.  You can find these under Posts > Categories.  There was no News & Events category, but there was a Parish Events category.  There are four posts currently assigned to that category.

As for re-ordering, again, no plugins were removed so you still go about this the same way as you previously have. 

First, you'll go to Posts > Re-Order, and scroll to the bottom.  Make sure the category matches the category you want to re-order.  Bump the posts up and down as desired and click Update to save the changes.

Use an image at least 500 pixels wide, and 285 pixels tall.  500x285.  A scaled-down and cropped version will automatically be generated based on the image, so you don't have to use those specific dimensions, just at least those dimenstions.  For example, 800x500 would work well, as would 1024x600.

As you've observed, we can't auto-generate matching-sized images if the image doesn't start large enough.

Yes, there is a set limit.  The limit was 10, as you've observed.  That limit is arbitrary and a limit that previously didn't get any attention because there haven't been more than 10 items to account for (at least that I am aware of).

I've changed the page limit to 12, which will allow for 3 rows of 4 on any given page.  If you have more than 12, you'll see the "Older posts" button that directs you to the remainder.

Style wise, that button didn't look so great.  I'll put on my to-do list testing that button and adjusting the style so it looks better if it's shown.
